Jake gets a B grade so far. Solid and steady since week one.

The defense gets an A/A-...the A- only because of week one. The front four has been getting awesome pressure. We are starting to generate a lot of turnovers.

Running game gets a B+. MA has been solid and Tatum keeps getting more work.

Rod gets a B+, but Lelie gets a C....he needs to make more plays.

Sauerbraun gets an A for punting, but a C- for kickoffs.

The linebackers get an A. DJ has been making less plays, but that is because he is playing mostly strongside. Gold has been all that so far and Wilson has been a butt kicker.

The rooks Darrent and Foxworth are the real deals.

The coaching staff gets high marks. Coyer has done very well since the second half of the SD game and Shanny has game-planned great since the Miami game.

Elam has me somewhat concerned though. The first 2 kicks looked like crap today.

What about you guys?

I know one thing......if after the Miami game you would have told me we would be 3-1 and played like we have I would have done cartwheels.

I'd give Ashley an Inc. Unless you've got access to game film, there's no way any of us know whether he's not getting open or Jake just isn't looking his way except when he tries to go downfield. And except for the debatable pass in Miami, where it's questionable if he could of gotten to the ball if he hadn't stopped, none of the other deep passes were catchable.

you have to throw Sauerbrun a bone since kick offs aren't is thing. At least if he kicks off in games more than he punts we know we're doing well.

Valid point...just seems like he and Jake are just missing on the long ball. Ash has got us some valuably yards on reverses too.

Lelie could have had a ton of touchdowns by now, but some were overthrown/underthrown. One he stopped instead of keep on trucking and another he dropped in the end zone, both against Miami.

If Jake can just get it closer to Ashley, we will draw PI's which is just as good as a catch in most cases. Ashley has somewhat disappeared, for whatever reason and it is rather disturbing. I was expecting this to be Rod's last year as the #1 guy in Denver, but it looks like we may have at least another year or possibly two before he is no longer the #1 receiver in Denver.

Fine with my on his status, because hs is a great #1 guy to have, but he aint gettin any younger and our "up and coming" guys still have a lot to prove.

The O-line should get better than a B-...three straight nice running games...tight ends could be utilized more although today was nice with House on the goal line...I still think Putz should be catching 3 or 4 a game and breaking one off deep now and then.

I think Rod can play at a high level this year and then 2 more years after that.

I really dont know what to think of the receivers. I agree SSJ, if Rod is our #1 guy for this year and 2 more, thats fine with me because I think he is a great #1 guy to have, but I would have liked to seen Rod be the #2 by next year and Lelie having had such great success by now to have taken over the #1. That way we have a monst 1-2 Receiver combo.

TheChamp24

And I think Charlie Adams can be that guy who takes over Rod's place. He can play.

I agree 100%. It would be nice to see Lelie take over the #1 spot. But Rod is so polished and such a great route runner that Jake naturally gravitates towards him because he knows Rod will be where he wants him to be.

WOW!! No wonder he is playing instead of Watts.

You guys are off to a fast start again. No surprises there, although the Miami game fooled me, big time.

Notes to self: Donks can't win in Miami. Donks ALWAYS start fast. Donks ALWAYS run the ball.

The true test of your team will come down the stretch. If you've truly improved, you'll grab the division by the balls instead of your usual choking act.

Wait a minute Bob. Arent you the same guy who has been saying "DONT TALK ABOUT LAST YEAR" ETC. all this time. You never want to focus on the past anymore, but now that Chiefs fans are in full panic mode, and the sky is crashing down, you feel the need to reach for straws to find something to criticize the Broncos about.

Hypocrite.

I grade hard, mostly because in 4 games, 2.5 have been good. .5 was mediocre and 1 was horrendous. Now, in the 2.5 games, its all been really good mind you, but the other six quarters offset the rankings a bit.

The one thing that makes me very satisfied is the potential of our defense. I know last year we were ranked 4th or 5th in the league, but in all honesty we were not the 4th or 5th best defense in the league. Our current defense can take over a game with push from the front four. There were too many times last year where the QB could stand untouched for too long and then cherry pick our defense. This year we are generating much more pressure up front with a very deep dline. Ian Gold is proving to be worth every penny too. Darrent and Foxworth have stepped up big-time.

Take today for instance...if we would have been missing both starting corners last year, we would have been picked clean. Not this year.

Our defense is for real. This could be the best D in the NFL.

In a game against the supposed best D, our defense shined by coming up with big stops and turnovers while our offense beat the Jags D into the ground.

This is after holding the leagues best RB to 52 rushing yards, and slamming the leagues most potent offense.

Bob, I wouldnt say we choked two years ago, we lost our starting QB for 4 weeks. If that had not have happened we could have possibly had a bye week/Home Field As it turned out we had to go into Indy with a banged up secondary. Last year we lost TP or the year...hmm you think he may have been a force in a game or two??? So we had some really old guys taking his place in Coleman/Raylee/Ellis. We are much younger and deeper on D this year and may actually be better as the year goes on and the rooks learn and the new guys get more comfortable.

Last year we went thru a few RBs also and we will have to see if MA/Bell/Dayne >Q/RD/Bell.

Looking good so far!!

Sauerbraun gets an A for punting, but a C- for kickoffs.

SSJ

Remember Mikah Knorr or Baker??? Saurbruns kickoffs aren't pretty but they are pretty effective. He did have 1 touchback today. I'd give him a c+.

I would give him a B+ if you compare him to the kickers we had here last year.

How much better is Denver because of Sauerbrun.?? Check this out. This was in the Post.

SoCals link: http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_3082207

Almost lost, but not quite, in the Broncos' big win: Todd Sauerbrun had four punts for a gross average of 48.5 yards and a net of 42.5. Micah Knorr during last year's 7-6 loss to the Jags averaged a net 24.6 yards.

Gold and Sauerbrun were GREAT FA pickups.

I don't have a real rating. I have some questions though:

1. Why do we keep giving up huge chunks of yards in pass defence? Where are we really rated in pass defense?

2. How did Cooper do? How did Hamilton do? How did Lepsis do? Was Lepsis really that bad in pass coverage? How did they survive the "two baddest DT in the league"?

3. Why can't our RB score? Why can't they pull off the home run hit from the 40 yard line? If you look at whose scoring it's always a trick play. We are going to get busted doing that before the end of the season. We need to tell them the ball is going to Rod and then...let Jake run it in. Who am I kidding!

4. What is the Vegas line on Broncos v. Redskins?

5. What are we calling on offense? How is we are spreading the ball around but not going downfield?

Sorry. I got carried away.

- If He's not getting open, then that's his fault.
- On the deep balls he's always been short. I gotta think at least some of that is because he's running differently in the games than in practice. Maybe he's getting jammed up at the line, or he's running slower... dunno.
