The D-line has been getting a lot of kudos lately (deservedly so) and the secondary is getting their due (deserved as well). But I think it's an appropriate time to show some love for the leader of this defense.

Whatever. Al gets lots and lots of praise from any announcer watching him. Theisman, Madden, Michaels, Simms, Young, Long all of them say Al is the second best MLB in the NFL behind Lewis.
Dungy picked Al to go to the pro-bowl because he felt Al got overlooked at MLB behind Farrior and LEwis(or maybe Thomas and Lewis) and he wanted Al there.
He is not under-rated. I think he might be one of the few people that they have rated just about right.

Hey man, Al is my favorite player on defense. I love his intensity and I love the way he looks as a MLB. Just looks like a guy that was born to play MLB. Scary, mean, big, fast, nasty tackler, makes huge hits on big RBs (remember him knocking Ricky Williams backwards 3 yards? or Edge?).
I think fans outside of the AFC West teams under-rate Al Wilson, but Raider, Bronco, Chef and Charger fans wont under-rate him.

I wouldn't say Al is the best type of leader to have on a team. He seems like the type of guy to bitch at you when you mess up instead of the guy that picks you up and tells you what you did wrong.
Kind of like the Indy playoff game a couple of seasons ago when Marvin Harrison got off the ground untouched and ran in for the touchdown. Al was yelling at Herndon while Marvin got off the ground.
Al is definitely the emotional leader of the defense, no questions asked. But the best type of leader, I'm afraid not.

Are you ****ing serious? Are we talking about the same Al Wilson here? This is the guy who began the tradition of the entire defense going out to dinner together every week for the purpose of promoting unity within the squad......as well as paying the bill for it.
Wilson is the first to pat a teammate on the helmet or get in their face when they need a wake up call. I wouldn't want him to be any other way and I'm sure his teammates feel the same.
Al's still growing into his role as the defensive leader. I think he stepped up today knowing that Champ was out, because so far this season its been Champ picking us up. Between the two I'm not worried about this defense quitting on us this year.

That one play gets brought up almost as much as Plummers left-handed throw, 2 years later when there's no merit to it whatsoever anymore.

And to special you need more then one "stud" per level. And right now we have that: (hopefully they all stay healthy)

A new record for the Jags. Probably for the Broncos too. What is the fewest rushing yards allowed in a game for Denver in their history? I'd say that 11 is it or very close to it.

Ill go with Champ all the way. Champ seems to be the heart of our new D. His play and his confidence are making our secondary great. I think that Champ, Lynch, Gold, Al, and Trevor are the emotional engines for our D, and Champ is "the guy" on the field. Our D is wicked-good!

Warren is a player. Brown also looks solid, Ekuban has been valuable, and Myers is versatile and is solid in run defense.

I can't say that I'm not shocked how well they look either, but I knew that the talent was there. I still want more sacks though but its not like I'm upset that we are not getting them by the truck loads.

Warren has 2, right? That's pretty good from a DT barrelling up the gut.
We are also causing alot of penalties on the line. Holding has become expected from the opposition.

Sacks are overrated , hurries are underrated, the pressure has been constant despite not having gaudy sack numbers.

My favorite are hits as/right after the ball is thrown. It can knock a pass into a defensive back, but it also can tweak a QB's confidence. Pryce thinks that was why Green went into the tank.

I'm greedy too.
The biggest thing the Broncos have going for them right now is the combination of depth, talent and the simple expectation they can do better. I promise you no top defense ever said "Well guys. We are getting enough sacks, turnovers and other overrated stats. Let's just go for hurries."
That is bullshiat. I agree with all the posters here that it's good to see them going after the little things that make a defense fun to watch.
The Browncos are quietly the difference makers on this line but can they shut down the Eagles? Colts?
I think Al Wilson is stepping up bigtime but what is helping him is being surrounded by a solid core of players on all levels. :Broncos:

Wouldn't it just piss Portis off if he had to give up his belt to Mike Anderson. I'd pay to see Mike or Tater sport a belt after next week's game.

If there's more than one way to spell "domination," it's only because the Broncos' defense invented a new spelling today.
