This Week's Reason to Love the NFL
Rebirth. For the first six quarters of the season, the Broncos looked like one of the worst teams in the league. They were shellacked by the Dolphins in Miami and then got pushed around by the Chargers for two quarters in Denver.
I don't know what — if anything — Mike Shanahan said during that halftime against the Bolts, but ever since then, the Broncos have outscored division rivals San Diego and Kansas City 47-13 and have looked like a legit playoff team.

I think Miami was a wake up call to the parity of the league. Then when San Diego came out swinging, I think at half-time our players FINALLY got over how much talent they have and realized that no how talented the team is, if they dont sell out and leave it all on the field, we're gonig to lose. It'll be nice if that theme can continue for the rest of the year. If the guys we have maximize their potential, we won't lose a game.

Well, I wondered myself, and it appears Coyer really appealed to them and also made some adjustments to a more attacking style.
SoCal gave several reasons why that isn't wise against Jacksonville, but I disagree...if you can control the LOS on defense, you dictate to the offense what they can do. I agree we have some glaring weaknesses in the secondary if Bailey is out, but every week, Fox gets more experience, and Walls wants back in the mix. Brandon looks different this year...I think he finally figured out a first day pick doesn't give you a spot on the team.
I think we continue to press. That's just my opinion. Now, when Dallas was up 13 with 4 minutes to go against, you can't let anything get behind you, that isn't the point. Of course Washington was going to send up some bombs. They were perfectly thrown and caught for TD's. But you can't let a Moss just run past you Mr. Roy Williams. Did anyone tell you the guy has 4.3 speed?

Cut the D-linemen loose again! They're going up against an inferior O-line and RB corps to KC and SD and raped both of them. Leftwhich is still twitchy from playing through pain. Wilford, Smith and Jones arent that dangerous, we can cover them easy. I say leave the safeties in cover 2 and bring 5 every time. Their O cant beat us... their D can make it interesting.

EXACTLY!!! But, you have to wonder if Coyer will go back to dropping Lineman in coverage b/c of our injury depleted corps in the secondary! I hope not. I think that pressure is the key to minimizing their lack of experience. Hopefully Coyer not only tells them they're reinfree, but to go balls to the wall and kill the F'ing QB!!!

Depleted secondary should have nothing to do with resorting to a zone blitz scheme again. The only time a D-lineman drops into coverage its in the flats and slant zones which corners rarely cover... Coyer would have to be an idiot to see the success we've had cutting the leash and then having them drop back into coverage for failure. I dont think he's retarded, but we'll see tomorrow.

I really think the "what did you say to the team at halftime" thing was overblown. What I think happened is the following:
1) Drew Brees comes out for the 3rd Quarter and makes a bone-headed throw. Champ Bailey, being the veteran that he is, makes a relatively easy play for a touchdown.
2) The defense uses the momentum from Champ's play (and San Diego's subsequent rattling) to play better, and with more confidence.
3) Momentum builds, and carries over into the Kansas City game.
In other words, I think you could argue that Champ's TD was a huge moment for the defense, and the main catalyst for their success during the last game and a half. If the defense continues to gel, then I would bet that that play turns out to be one of the most important, if not THE most important, of the season.
And Champ is my Adopt-a-Bronco. I can't help but feel that I am somewhat responsible for the team's success during the last six quarters!
