Just listened to the Broncos report that talked about the injuries plaguing us at corner. At what point do we bring in a veteran corner to solidify the unit? And who's out there? Is Bobby Taylor still available?

Injuries? Meaning more than one? Who else is hurt besides Champ?

Alexander is questionable too. That would leave is with Walls and three rookies if Bailey and Alexander can't go. Uh-oh! The d-line better have its best game.

Like Alexander would play over Foxworth, probably not even Paymah. To be honest, I'd rather see Brandon move back to CB before Alexander is asked to cover someone in an important game. In fact, with the new Heavy Nickle or whatever its called he basically will, since if we go far enough down the depth chart to see Alexander playing Nickle DB we'll probably run the heavy all the time instead.

Middlebrooks would have had to be a consideration if the 9ers didn't just resign him.

I agree we will see Brandon before we would see either Alexander or Paymah. But, if they go with four or five wides we're talking about probably Foxworth at nickel and then Brandon in the dime. No question we would be short in the secondary and the Jags would go after that. That's why our d-line needs to have its best game. Wouldn't want to expose that group in coverage any more than necessary. Plus, Williams is already dinged a little.

I like Fox, i hope he plays. Champ may not even be out according to him..(course thats what every player says). But Charger week he said he would play, then he did. DW should be ok by Sunday.

I like Foxworth too. Saw him a lot out here in ACC land. Just wouldn't want to see him matched up with, say, Smith at this point in his development. Hopefully Champ plays and DW stays healthy through the game.

I wonder what they'll do to cover that Ark former QB. I think there's Smith and not a lot else in the WR dept. DW or (gulp) Walls on Jimmy and a two deep. Leftwich could kill us if he doesn't have pressure.

To be honest, even without Champ I'd LOVE to see them line up 4 or 5 wide. That means Taylor isn't running on us, and he's clearly their biggest threat. Even better than that, Mo Williams, their most talented OL, and Naeole or whatever, probably their most consistant and reliable, are both questionable (both play left side I do believe as well). If they line up 4 or 5 wide and have no one helping a very weak OL our front four will have a field day and Leftwich won't see half time.
I think three wide is a bigger threat, then they get three very talented WRs, two of them big, with Taylor and a TE or FB to help with the blocking. In that situation we have a hard matchup because Walls is the only guy who can match up with Williams or Jones in size. Darent will be relied on to cover Smith, a matchup I really don't like, Walls will take Jones or Williams, a matchup I'm iffy on in either case, and Foxworth or Brandon needs to cover the other one, which could be a real big mismatch. All that plus we'd have to worry about Taylor running on us. People are kidding themselves if they think we couldn't REALLY use Champ, the Jags offense has teeth and this will be one of our make or break games of the season.

I'm more concerned about our pass defense than our run defense. Hell, we shut down LT and KC. I just remember freakin Ferrotte nickling and diming us to death. But I agree, without Champ its a matchup nightmare in the secondary. Goes back to our d-line needing to have its best game - especially with their O-line woes. And, Leftwich is banged up. I don't think we'll put up a lot of points on their D.
