Did anyone else notice how well Sam Brandon has been playing? Maybe he's finally realizing that potential from a few years ago. He definitly looks like a candidate to replace John Lynch one day.

yeah, I bet our secondary is pretty happy with a monster front 7, forcing the QBs to rush passes. How many did Trent throw in the dirt? About 5? Can't believe PTI still thinks KC is better than Denver and that Trent is still a great QB. The guy looked average against a good D.

But yes, I bet Brandon is looking to play his way into a starting position. After Ferguson's opening drive penalty, I was ready to make a switch.

I was thinking the same thing when they mentioned that he was playing in the "Heavy Nickle" set, covering Gonzales. Not bad at all.

I'm glad to see him stepping up. This is a key position for the Broncos as offenses tend to have better plans for defenses later in the season when they've gelled. This could be good to watch.

The new big nickel set seems to fit him perfectly. He gets to rove around and ballhawk a little while also laying out some big tackles and using his cover skills, its like FS + Nickel back in one. I wouldn't be surprised to see him take Ferguson's job before the year ends myself, with Fergy making stupid penalties like his roughing the passer flag last night.

If he does I think Karl Paymah is a perfect choice to take his spot in the big nickel's 3rd "safety" spot. Big hitter, can cover, just what we need for that role.
