Buy:
Darrent Williams starting opposite of (in theory) Champ Bailey....
Big money for the re-aquisition of Ian Gold.... I'll be honest and say that I WAS a critic
Kyle Johnson...
The BIG NICKEL package... shutting down the likes of Gates and Gonzales
The Browncos... serving piping-hot crow to the likes of Adam Shine and John Riggins
Rod Smith... #2 greatest Bronco of all time
Sell:
Darrent Williams not fielding punts... I don't care about the risk of injury... a special teams gamebreaker is priceless
Jake Plummer, the place-kicking holder... How hard can this job be?
The crazy pre-game MNF hype... how gay
Lenny Walls... just imagine the salary he will command next year, even though he sucks balls right now. He will go the way of Heyward.

I agree on a lot of that.
I actually like Plummer as the placekick holder, that leaves so much room for possible fakes. Even if you only run one once, it'll stick in the minds of the opponents.
Lenny can leave via free agency if he wants, Darrent has already passed him, and I like what I've seen from Foxworth. Even if Lenny plays great this season, I see him as gone.

Agree, and Walls wants to be here. Evidence of that: Fired the Devil, and hired a Denver based agent.
I like Plummer holding, he did a good job.
I do agree that DW should be the PR man. You can get hurt walking down the stairs (didnt Griese trip over his dog?? lol) No more risk him doing PR than corner, let him play the position he was drafted for!!

I like Walls... he has uncoachable size and physical ablility... I really dig his dumping of Drew.
My point is: he will command a king's ransom in a sellers market for cornerbacks. We won't be able to retain him, and we have a better replacement in Williams.
I don't want to see him go... but next year is his payday..

I don't know what to think of Walls. He hasn't done anything special with his size nor his physical ability. His play, so far, has been pretty average and his followthrough nearly non-existant

Buy:
Darrent Williams starting at CB. His lack of size be damned, this kid can cover and tackle.
Rod Smith getting all the respect he deserves from his teammates, coaches and fans.
Jake only having to attempt 18 passes and the Broncos put 30 points on the board.
The defensive line coming together nicely. Pryce was dominant, but there were contributions from everywhere last night.
Sell:
Lenny Walls losing his focus on the Chefs lone garbage time TD. If he bothers to tackle Parker the drive ends and the final score is 30-3. You know it's bad when you're playing opposite a rookie and they pick on you instead of him. He's either really good or you're really bad.....in this case it's a bit of both.
Nick Ferguson's boneheaded stunts out there. He got nailed for roughing the passer on the Chefs first drive (which could have been disastrous) and then lucked out when the referee picked up the flag after he smacked Gonzo upside the helmet. Get your head in the game nitwit.
Todd Devoe being deactivated. Dammit.

Buy:
DJ Williams being a team player and doing what his team asks of him without complaint. He's never played SAM before, he's dynamite as a WILL, but he slides over to the unfamiliar strong side spot because that's what the team thinks is best. His numbers are suffering for it, but the guy has never uttered a peep in protest of the move and has quietly done a teriffic job as he learns on the fly. At such a young age he's a pro's pro. There's veterans in this league that could learn a thing or two from him.

Im buying a lot of what you guys are buying but here's my list anyway:
Buy
-Darrent Williams as everything. Starting CB, PR, KR, ****ing WR if we have to.
-The toss play to Bell.
-More imaginative play calling.
-The Brownco's, mostly Brown and Warren, but the other two have done more than expected as well.
-Jake Plummer playing well in the pocket early in the game and not turning it over at all.
-Ian Gold as one of our OLBs.
-Al Wilson as our MLB.
-DJ Williams as our other OLB. As much of a beast as Pryce was last night, the linebackers were just as stellar. Wilson, Gold or Williams or a combo of any of them were near every rush, and most pass plays and just in general johnny on the spot. I noticed Al Wilson touch a guy down immediately even though he was down, but was not having another Harrison or Clayton debacle. Al came in hard on blitzes up the gut that brought extra pressure and more than once he was in Trent's face. Williams seemed to be near any damn tackle even remotely close to the LOS. All in all, a superb job.
-Sam Brandon covering Gonzo. Sam has come up big against KC in the past, specifically I remember a crucial third down stop he got on Priest Holmes last year or maybe the year before (think it was last year though).
-New blitzing schemes. Dont even bother hiding it just bring it bitch.
-Zone blocking. Holes were gaping, offensive line has really come together because despite gashing them for 221 yards total rushing, that is not a bad front seven we played against. Not the best by any means, but there are a lot worse out there and we still gashed them.
-Few penalties.
-Todd Saurkraut. I do believe that if he is the only one to beat, you better beat him, he looks like he can lay wood.
-Smashing of Dante Hall on numerous occassions both as returner and WR.
-A blocking Fullback.
Sell
-Secondary coverages still need work. If not for a few dropped balls and slight overthrows, KC has some big big gains on our secondary. Talent is there, the coverages need tweaking or the guys need to get better and remembering their assignments.
-Red zone run game. Still ugly guys. We pulled a couple out of "Hape"s on them, but how long are those types of plays going to work?
-Receiving game is not so hot guys. Rod Smith seems to be the only one earning a paycheck (though a case could be made for Charlie Adams since its such a small paycheck comparitively). Where the hell did Ashley go?
-The naked bootleg so often. Surely there are other plays we can run.

I agree, Doc. Not only because a special teams gamebreaker is priceless in the positive sense, but equally because a special teams fumble is a gamebreaker in the other direction! Did anybody notice Charlie the other night? In all the "happy-happy joy-joy," it's easy to forget that Charlie muffed ANOTHER one! He's doing great as a third WR, but it's a historical fact now that CHARLIE ADAMS DROPS EVERY THIRD PUNT HE FIELDS . . . going back to Monday night, this preseason, last year, last preseason, etc . . . D-Will should return punts, and if he's too tired, put Rod Smith back there again. It could easily be a W/L decision.
I don't know why everybody loves Dominique Foxworth so much. He has been flagged 5 or more times in just 7 games as a Bronco. Let's not compare him to Lenny Walls just yet.
In fact, the "obituary" on Lenny Walls is WAY too early. Walls was a real goat on the late KC touchdown ("bad" goat, not "Jerry Rice" goat) - in fact, the D was poised for a TD shutout, Vermeil's worse loss ever, etc... and Lenny tackled like a girl on the TD (although his coverage on the play was perfect, despite the all-out blitz). In fact, Lenny's coverage seems to be perfect almost all the time - and his reaction moves seem great to me - watching on TV, anyway. It's his tackling that sucks (vs. Miami, too). Now, with Champ hurt, we need Lenny.

Buy: Williams starting, if Champ is out for two weeks at least it is these two weeks, Jaksonville and Wash are not offensive juggernauts, neither have premier WR's or QB's Williams is playing above a rookie level and should be more than able to step up
Buy: Jake holding, I talked about this last week, Sauerbran was the major prob with the missed kicks last week, I have tape of Plummer in college, I have not been able to review it yet but I believe that he held in college. And we need someone that can do the job to do it, if we can't get six we need to get something.
Sell: Everybodys idea that this is to set up the fake field goal, This is not Madden 06, how many of these plays do we see in Denver? In the NFL? not that many, and don't you think that they will notice Jake out there and maybe prepare for it? True Plummer could get hurt anytime but on a play that could be avoided, a trick play no way? Van Pelt would be the obvious choice in that situation, he is a bigger, stronger runner and a less obvious since it was common a few years ago for back up QB's to hold for kicks. Plummer is holding because he is the only one better than Sauerbraun and we can't afford to miss scoring chances.

While I agree Lenny has not played well to start the season, people forget that he had a VERY solid 2003 campaign. He covered a given team's number one WR, and usually held his own. I believe he finished second in the league in passes defensed that year, too. Last year was pretty much a wash in his development, as he was injured and didn't play much. I think he will eventually kick the rust off and continue to improve upon the great potential he demonstrated in '03.

I agree completely! Suddenly it is "fashionable" to slam Lenny, but such a position is not supported by the facts. Sure, Lenny tackled like a girl on the TD MOnday, but Inferno is right about 2003 - Lenny was #2 in passes defensed - in either the AFC or the whole league. His coverage and closing speed has always been very good - still is. He's just not a great tackler as we saw Monday NIght and in Week 1 at Miami.

Looks like they are holding McNabb together with tape though. He's trying to play through a sports hernia, rib and ankle injuries. I think Gunther is going to go after him pretty damn hard early on to get him out of the game. Donovan is really hanging by a string physically. If they can pound him a few times and get him out of the game, the Chiefs will win despite their OL problems. If I were Vermeil, id pack the gameplan with a heavy dose of inside and right side runs and the occasional trap and draw to Kearse's side to slow down his pass rush. Probably need to go to the Shotgun alot to give Trent a little more time and keep two backs in for pass protection. Even if the assigned LB doesnt come, help the OT on your side by chipping the DE for a count before releasing. This probably means there wont be alot of underneath passing game. You'll have to rely on 2 or 3 man combinations with the WRs and TEs and not incorporating the backs so much in the route combinations. Prolly more quick 3 step drop passes than usual as well to get it out fast and neutralize the pass rush.

Trouble is the Squaws can't get a pass rush, especially inside. I think Pryce is right - something is wrong with Holmes and johnson is inconsistent. Squaws with no pass rush, no decent deep coverage and no wide recievers. Putting my money on Philly who I dislike as much or more than the squaws.

Seems kind of old that the posters here kept saying that age is going to catch up with KC's O this year and many KC fans said that is BS because they had the number one O last year. If Roaf wasn't 35 I bet he would have been out a week at the most, now he's on 3 and a 1/2. Sheilds didn't look the same and Holmes and Green look lost. Oh if things don't change fast Green is going to have a hard time getting to 4000 yards passing again this year as well. With all that I still fear KC's O because of what they have done in the past but like I said its funny that things appear to be slowing down fast, just like it did for the aging Raiders...like we said it could.
