Though the Raiders have been a top rivalry in the NFL in the hearts of many, they have not given the Chiefs the contest that Denver has the last few years. So I wanted this game the most. In fact, living out of state and being a season ticket holder I almost always choose the Chiefs/Broncos game as one that I go to every year. In fact it's the ticket that I saved for this year as well. I hope the next game holds out to be a better contest.
Denvers D line:
I am on record several times making light of the Broncos off season moves pertaining to the Browns defensive line. Though I am not ready to give them too much credit for last nights win over the Chiefs, I am willing to admit they played better than I thought they would. However, where the d line is concerned T.Pryce played the best game I have seen from him.
I'm not sure which was the biggest contributing factor, the revolving door we had at left tackle, or TPs dominating performance. I expect both were pretty high on the list of reasons KC couldn't get anything going.
Denvers run game:
I know at 1st glance it will seem as though the Chiefs run game is the same ol Chiefs, but it wasn't. There were a couple of good runs in there, but KC did better stuffing most of them. Had the score been closer, maybe the Broncos dont run as much. But with the early 17 points, it was easy for Denver to dictate the defense of the Chiefs. The end result however was the same as it has been. This was perhaps the toughest part of the game to take for me.
The Bootleg:
Jared Allen.....WTF? Collapsed down over and over. The same thing he was benched for in the off season. I expect with the injury to Sims he may keep his job by default, but he needs his ass kicked for his performance.
KCs O line:
As a KC fan, we have the luxury of knowing that the offensive line will be a factor in our favor no matter who we play. Not only was this not the case in this game, but I feel like the O line has been struggling so far this season. One of the biggest reasons is because we are running a committee of backs. We need to nail it down to one guy. Or we can continue to see problems here. One thing was made obvious, Larry Johnson cannot block in the passing game.
KCs defense:
Though the new look defense has Chiefs fans thinking that everything has changed for the better, I was able to see that there were still a lot of developing that needed to take place. It really is tough to get a feel for them right now. I know that Denver had thier way with them this game, but I havent given up hope for them. After all KC did the same thing to the Bronco defense last time we played. When you get behind as quick as we did it pretty much is gonna be a long day for the defense.
Summary:
Not much to say on behalf of the Chiefs. They were out played in every facet of the game.
We couldn't stop the pass rush.
We couldn't get a pass rush.
We didn't stop the run.
We didn't establish the run.
Finally, this was the worst game I have seen from Trent Green.
Though it's only one game, and there is still a lot of football to play, this one will hurt the worst for me this season. I am pretty sure that this loss will be a learning experience and that you will see better play the next time we meet. At least I hope so.
Congratulations Bronco fans on your dominating win over the Chiefs. You should be proud of your team. It is the best they have looked so far this year. Further, god speed to Bailey. Dont like to see people get hurt, but it looks like something he will snap back from in short order.
Until we meet again.

thanks crazyhorse.
I expect a great game when we roll into KC. It'll be a whole different ball game with Roaf/Dunn healthy and KC will have that extra time to gel on Defense.
It's going to be interesting how KC rebound from this loss. Vermeil is a solid coach in getting his team to bounce back from these types of losses but you will face a tough challenge in McNabb, TO and most importantly Westbrook who's looking more and more like a young Marshall Faulk as each week goes by. You're OLB are going to have to play better against him since the guy can freakin line up as the slot WR and do so much. I don't see how KC get pressure on McNabb because you won't be able to blitz your LBs with Westbrook on the hot read.

No excuses here. The Broncos kicked the living hell out of the Chiefs in EVERY phase of the game.
Congrats guys, that was one hell of a azz stomping.
There, now I'm going to the restroom and try to brush out the rest of the dried out vomit from last night.

A good ol fashioned butt kicking is what it was.
Pryce owned the O line.
Very poor planning by the Chiefs.
Excellent execution in all phases by the Donks.
Out coached in every way.
Nice win for you guys.

It was over when Larry Johnson fumbled the ball. I called it last week when KC fans were giving Parker sh!t about almost fumbling the game away in Oakland. LJ doesn't hold the ball close to his body and should be very easy to punch out. If he keeps it up it'll happen all season.
Once Denver was able to take advantage of that turnover (which sure seemed like the D-Lineman was able to get into the endzone untouched) the game was over. Why? Plummer doesn't have to drop back and throw in the pocket the rest of the game and that was KC's best chance to control the Denver offense and possibly get a turnover.
Once Denver had a comfortable lead, they can be patient with the running game and run all that misdirection. Defensively, they really didn't need to respect the running game anymore and just blitz the hell out of Green. At 17-0, it was over.
I watch a fair amount of non-Chief Bronco games. It doesn't seem as though Denver runs it's offense like this in most games. Why is that? I know KC's defense blows, but even against other weak defenses, dropping Jake back to pass seems to be a significant part of the gameplan. But it isn't against KC (at least not when KC comes to Denver). Am I wrong in thinking this?

NFL games come down to who executes their plays. I'm a little surprised that I haven't seen more Chiefs fans calling out Sammie Parker. It must hhave steamed every one of them to see Parker smiling from ear to ear as he returned to the huddle every time he dropped an easy pass.
Then he makes a monkey catch to take one to the house way after it could possibly matter. The Kan'tpass City offense hung a huge night on their _efense.

I believe the post before your was calling Parker out. Not to mention the fumble that almost cost us the game last week.

If I was chef fan then I'd also be pretty pissed off that a 32 year old Mike Anderson who supposedly has no speed outran your secondary for a 44 yard TD. There were three KC DBs around Mike yet none of them managed to out pace him.

Anderson isn't a small block, he's more like a 396 in an Impala. God I wish I had that car...Red SS '66 Impalla with black buckets and chrome console and a factory hurst 4 speed. His '72 Grand Prix SJ with the 400 short block flew, but it was a high speed cruiser.
The point is, and I lost my train there, is once Anderson gets a head of steam, he can run with any safety. You have to open the hole for him tho. He's not explosive or able to shift direction easily and dosn't have great vision. If you can get him going to the second level tho, he's dominant.

Somebody's calling him out. I picked up this gem off the Planet:
Holy ****, Parker is fast as hell but what does that help when he cant catch a damn pass. We have to have someone who can catch a damn ball. I dont know if I've ever got as mad at a player on t.v. before. I imagine he had about 5 or 6 drops. We need a true number 1 reciever now. Kennison would be a good number 2 but he's not a number 1. Tony got it handed to him last night by champ. He is the best TE in the game but we have to face it, if he gets their best corner on him he will get shut down most of the time. Some of you may hate this idea but T.O. is not happy. Pay him the damn money and get him here. He's a pain in the ass sometimes yes but he does produce. Can you imagine our offense with Priest, LJ, and then T.O.? Btw LJ sucked balls last night. You LJ freaks still want him as the starter? I dont think so.
You know you got polaxed when TO starts looking like a viable solution to your problems. ugh!~

It was over when Larry Johnson fumbled the ball.
It was over when KFC Couldn't run the ball & They had to line up their TE's as WR's because they have no Receivers that are of NFL Caliber. QUITTERSON showed up after it was all over & had some tough catches but he always plays well against Broncos. I love seeing Dainty get the "Lynch Flintch" & drop the ball when he hears Jonhs footsteps coming!
Once Denver had a comfortable lead, they can be patient with the running game and run all that misdirection. Defensively, they really didn't need to respect the running game anymore and just blitz the hell out of Green. At 17-0, it was over.
Our D stuffed the run early & STENT had to throw the ball into coverage, THE GREAT PARKER dropped a key 3rd down pass that could have cut the score early. Denver never had to adjust their gameplan GUNTHER had no clue what to do all night long.
I watch a fair amount of non-Chief Bronco games. It doesn't seem as though Denver runs it's offense like this in most games. Why is that?
KFC bit on every misdirection & did not stay home & show any dicipline. I liked that Shanny started by throwing to Lelie 1st then went to Rod from the slot. Adams & Watts had some nice catches also. I liked that they used more motion bringing KJ in from Slot to his FB position presnap. I think D can show more of what they are trying to do when he moves back to FB. All around solid A for Broncos last night.
Also the fact that KFC FINALLY got called for holds on KO's & when Knee-factor or Ex-x-Factor did get a run back he was wrapped up & tackled soundly. Dainty will be calling Vannover soon to find out how he can run drugs for his to make all the $ he is losing by not being the x-factor!

Summary:
Not much to say on behalf of the Chiefs.
I saw two things that I really liked during that game. Greg Wesley's open field goalline tackle on Anderson and the camera shots of the cheerleaders. That is the extent of the things I really enjoyed.
Vermeil is a chicken $hit. I loved the decision to punt on the 36. Nothing like giving the ball away for a net of 16 yards that only take 1 play to offset with this defense.
Hard to knock the Donks game plan when they won in a blowout but they should have ran the ball between the tackles more. John Browning was knocked on his ass every time they did. Dalton was pushed so far out of the play every time that he would have needed a telescope to read Anderson's jersey. As I've said all offseason and all season so far is you can't win big games with a defensive line as $hitty as the Chiefs.
The offensive line is clueless and lost without Roaf. Hard to believe the difference one guy makes on that line. This team will be pitiful next season when Roaf and Shields retire. If Roaf doesn't come back healthy soon they might get a season advance on being pitiful.
Darius Watts has a challenger for the worst hands in the NFL....his name is Sammie Parker.
Penalties, penalties, penalties....Gawd the Chiefs might as well be wearing silver and black with that kind of discipline.
On the bright side we may not be very good but at least we are really old.

I will give props to Jared Allen, he made some good plays. But his best was during intros when he dropped the name of his preschool. I about had beer out the nose, that was hilarious.

Pryce said he was beating Shield on some of those pass rushes as well. I didn't pay that much attention to where he lined up I just know he was in the backfield ALOT. If that is the case KC may have more Oline problems then just Roaf not being in there.

And then later, Madden was saying how he learned some run defense technique when he was at that preschool. It sounded as if neither he nor Micheals were particulary amused by Allen's intro.

Well, I think that's it right there. Pryce was playing so out of his mind it didn't matter were he lined up. If he stayed over the left tackle, KC might have been able to plan for that. But he kept moving up and down the line and I think the RB's, TE's and OL were having trouble figuring out who to help out on and double.

ROFL!
Sims was your best interior defender and with him gone, teams will run at you all season long.
I said before that KC's defense is certainly opportunistic and know how to use their speed once they are protecting a lead but the question was how were they going to perform if they fell behind or someone was running the ball down their throats.
I hope Kawika Mitchell, Bell, and Johnson are as good as advertised because your LBs will have a busy year if your OL doesn't step it up and start protecting that D with one/two score leads.

Thats what Pryce does when he is at his best. I think some people over look that fact because he doesn't get the stats he used too, but truth is he moves around so much that he is causing problems even if he isn't getting the stats. I know that Roaf was out and he is all-pro but man I have never seen a Broncos Dline do that to the KC line ever, and it starts with Pryce.

Talk about getting yer arse handed to ya in a paper bag! That was a prime-time pummeling. From my perspective, it wasn't a whole lotta fun. The Broncos looked great on both sides of the ball. Good crowd, too. It (the crowd) had an affect on the game, esp. in the first half. Trent was rattled, mentally and physically.
