Jake was pretty lame with the deep stuff tonight. That rendered Ashlie to reverse work.

Also, way too many gadget plays down in the redzone for my liking. I was surprised we didn't wheel out Gerard to use at the goalline...... at least as a decoy.

Just deep routes to Lelie. He's been almost invisible. We make a few of those and their D will have to honor it and losen up the coverage.

Broncos just need to keep improving every week on offense. The defense is doing the job now, offense is getting the cushion to finetune.

Offensive third down conversions still are anemic with 2-8 tonight. That is below 22% for the seasonand worse than even BAL. OUCH!

Still need to get more sacks and INT's off the blitzes. Defense was great tonight but not very opportunistic.

Lelie was really open two times and Plummer just thew two horrible balls. Hopefully they can get it working next week.

Broncos won the turnover battle. Least I think they did. I had to work, only got to see 56 of 60 minutes.

I didn't like that pitch to Mike Anderson on the 3rd and goal, they should have given it to Tatum... They ran that same play later with Tatum, and he took off with it. That's not MA hate, it's just that play, IMO, requires a speedster, and Tatum is just that. With that said, I liked the next play, the 4th and goal with Jake running it.

I thought Jake played pretty well, I'm liking his play this year. Playing within himself, making smart passes. He's thrown some bad balls, I can remember 2 off the top of my head, one to Alexander and one to Adams, both behind them. But, no INT's which is nice.

Who got the horsetrailer?

The only thing MA should have done was attack the goalline instead of trying to outrun Wesley to the corner. He could have laid him five yards into the endzone but he pussed out. VERY unmarinelike :coach:

You guys did a fantastic job against Dante Hall, too. Completely neutralized.

I was thinking the same thing. I remember back in 1998 when we played Jacksonville Eddie Mac was in the same position and just forced his way through the Jagwad defender.

Agreed, MA just didn't play that one to his strengths, he could easily push 1 defender into the endzone. The play was fine, Mike just took the wrong angle.

Funny you say that. I had the same thought. Had he lowered his pads and cut into Wesley, I would bet he hung 6 on them.

there is still alot of work to be done. This team can get a lot better if they choose to work hard and play for team ball. I agree with most of what has been posted so far. we all se things that need tweaking.

I do like the improvement though. That's how you get into the post season and beyond. That and a little luck avoiding key injuries. Our team sure looks deep in most places.

As long as I'm seeing differnt players make plays on any given down, that's all I can ask for. The coaches just have to keep encouraging and preparing. I'd say the Denver coaches are loving the position they're in. The players are rolling pretty good on their own right now . . . . . Solid team.

I like the fact that we are IMPROVING each week. Next week will be another test with a very good defense in JAX. If the Offense can be efficient, DEN will kill Leftwich IF he plays.

It is always one game at a time because of the matchups though. We need to run the reverses, screens, and counters to loosen up the Running game early again too!

I said the same thing right after the play. Anderson just isn't quick enough to get to the outside for that play. I think even Dayne could have done it better.

They did run that play to Bell once and he tore it up for like 15 yards.

Bell scared me, again. Why Shanahan doesn't give him the ball more is beyond me. Anderson's long run was nice, but his other 19 carries went for only 54 yards.

Bell scares me.

Bell does have that threat to take it every play. I was shocked to even see him tonight. But after he made a few plays i was really upset they took him out.

MA, come on now buddy, RUN to the goal line!! i was pissed, he could have easily ran over wesley.... I dont wanna see that happen again.

Plummers deep ball needs work.. Lelie ran good routes, got open, and jake blew it.

Has he had anything resembling a long run yet this season? I think the days of Dante the Human Joystick are over. Teams have figured out a way to slow him down.

Great game – Denver played tough all around and KC killing themselves with penalties was icing on the cake.
I can’t fault too much, but I’d say the corner position that Walls is at needs work. On KC’s only TD he had the guy wrapped up inside the first down marker, and then lets him go for score. WTF ???
Paging Mr. Foxworth, the position is up for grabs.

We're never going to really see what Lelie can do until we get someone who can deliver the football downfield.

Gotta do the gadget plays in the redzone, they OL doesn't have the size to be a smashmouth team down there.

Not his full talents, no, but I think he could be effective on short routes that he can turn up field and get some YAC with. He serves a purpose running all those deep routes though, even if the ball doesn't go to him, because he'll expose a zone or take the CB deep as well as get a safety to fall back or cheat over to him. That'll make it easier for Jake to hit Rod and the other guys short as well as giving them more open field to make moves in.

That, and don't be surprised if Lelie has a big game right off. Teams are going to come at us inside the first 15 yards after tonight's short passing attack and heavy running. That'll take focus off Lelie and help him get open, Jake just needs to get it to him.

As for our weaknesses after last night's game, well, I think Meyers could have made a few plays that he didn't, and I think the DL as a whole got a bit jumpy with the off-sides/encrochment penalties.

Lenny Walls really disapointed me, I don't like the idea of him starting if champ is out next week, let alone multiple weeks. Foxworth showed more to me in what little action he saw yesterday than Walls did, who missed tackles, gave WRs room to work in, and generally just didn't play well at all.

I liked most of the playcalling but I would have liked to see a few more screen passes to Anderson or Dayne on the flat. It worked very well against SD and they play a 3-4, against a 4-3 it could have been even more effective. I hope it gets a larger role in the playbook against Jacksonville.

Outside of that I'm happy. We played a great game, the coaches did a great job of putting us in matchups we can win and the players won 'em almost to a man. Can't ask for more than that.

I don't want to get ahead of myself so I'm not going to say the team doesn't need work. Really the only thing we do need is to keep building on what we do right, and work harder on the things we don't do well. If we keep coming out and playing with this intensity we will win some games, I just hope we don't have to get beat again for them to understand that.

I would still like to see more of our TE's involved in the passing game. It may be time to dust of Wesley Duke for a look-see.
