My boy is so money! We'd be nasty on punt returns if he became full time punt returner, but I understand that Shanny doesn't want to lose this guy on defense. I can live with it. Shanny and company have drafted some real stud defenders these past 2 drafts.
Even Salisbury had high praises for DWill saying he's going to be a star one day.

Salsbury was one of the big critics of the Browncos. He said that they played well BUT it's because the offense played so well the defense could turn it loose. From what I saw The Denver defense dominated the whole game even before Denver ran away with it.

Don't listen to idiot salisbury. I don't know what the broncos or someone in the organization did to him, but it's really hard for him to admit anything good about the broncos. What I saw was absolute domination by the defense. That's why I'm psyched. They play like they have the last 6 quarters it will be a fun year. Defense plays well, means less pressure on Jake and more control of a game. We have a nasty defense here in DC, but unfortunately no offense. The Broncos can score more than enough to win let alone if the defense plays this well all year.

I agree, the Chiefs ran 68 plays vs Denver's 56 so it's not like the offense kept the ball out of the chiefs hands, the D just kept getting it back for us.

The Chefs vaunted offense got into the red zone twice. That was it. And when the game was still in it's competitive stage they stiffened and held them to a field goal.
Part of that was because the special teams coverage was outstanding and Dainty Hall wasn't able to give them points or field position. It sure makes a difference when they're starting at the 20-25 yard line rather than the 40-45 yard line.

He hasn't hated that bad recently. He thinks denver has the best Linebacker trio in the league, called Al Wilson as good a MLB as there is in the league. He said D-will will be a star, and had high praise for Trevor. He said that the team feeds off the rushing game, and I think that is true.

10 tackles for Darrent tonight, a good portion of them came in run support.
Three weeks in and there's still nothing not to like about this guy.

Darrent was starting tonight opposite Bailey, and this was before the injury. Looks like Shanahan finally found a good corner.

I found that shpcking, didnt expect that at all. But it definitely payed off. Will we see Fox and DW starting next week, or do you think Walls will step up this week in practice to be #2??
Man im pumped for week 4, i wanna see this D on the road.
I got this quote from the Post: "With Williams playing all the time on defense, Charlie Adams took over the return duties as the game wore on"
Now that Williams is starting does that mean Adams is our starting return man? With his speed and moves I would like to see DWill on returns and after Adam's muff today I don't have too much faith in him.

Here is a great article on Williams
Little defensive back comes up big for Broncos

DENVER -- SOMETIMES BEING small is fine as long as you have a big heart and an abundance of talent.
Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams might be only 5-foot-8 188 pounds, but he plays like a giant.
When the Broncos drafted the rookie out of Oklahoma State with their No. 1 pick, they hoped that he would be a return specialist who would add a dangerous element to their special teams, maybe become the next Dante Hall.
What they are finding out is that he is a football player who adds a tough and physical playmaker to their defense.
Williams found out Wednesday that he was getting his first career start after only two games in the NFL. Getting his first career start in front of a national TV audience on Monday Night Football might leave any rookie quaking in his cleats. Starting opposite a Pro Bowl cornerback like Champ Bailey might rattle the nerves even more.
But Williams didn't let it affect him one iota. He was all over the field on Monday and a key element in Denver's dominant defensive effort in 30-10 victory over Kansas City Chiefs at Mile High Stadium.
"I was just trying to prepare myself and get ready because I knew what the Kansas City offense was capable of, so it is great to get a start in this league as a rookie," Williams said. "It is a dream for me. Just getting into this league is a dream, but to get the start opposite Champ Bailey is something I can tell my kids and my family for ever and ever."
It isn't often that you want your cornerback to lead the team in tackles as Williams did Monday. But the rookie corner's physical play was a key element in holding the Kansas City Chiefs running game in check, allowing Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson only 74 yards rushing.
And when Bailey went down with a strained hamstring in the second quarter, he picked up his game to an even higher level.
"You have to," Williams said. "With a guy like Champ, you know what he is going to bring to the game. He is going to fight hard and he is going to make some plays and fight no matter what until the end of the game. The second half I hurt my ankle a little bit, but I was like when Champ went down (last week) with the shoulder, he fought through it and I had to fight through it for the team because I have some big shoes to fill."
Most shoes in the NFL are bigger than those of Williams'. But among the big boys, this small fry proved he can be a giant among men.
"In this league, a lot of things aren't all about size," Williams said. "It is still about football. No matter what the size is you have to still go and play football. I could be a seven-foot guy and still play terrible. So it is all about confidence and learning to play technique and just playing football and trying to compete every day and then size isn't a disadvantage."
Denver coach Mike Shanahan doesn't care how big Williams is. It's all about Williams' talent and ability to produce on the field. It has earned him the respect of Shanahan quickly in his NFL career. It's why the rookie is starting.
"We just felt Darrent has been playing consistent through camp," Shanahan said. "He's really proved to us through the preseason and the first two regular season games that he deserved a chance to start. He took advantage of that opportunity tonight and played extremely well."
If Williams is proving anything, he is a football player. At times, he plays more like a linebacker than a corner. He can pack a wallop when he hits and he isn't afraid to take on any player.
"Being a nickleback, sometimes I have to play like a linebacker so I have to fill in holes and things of that nature," Williams said. "I try to play as physical no matter my frame because I play defense, so that is the talent that I have."
It's that talent that may one day carry him to big heights in the NFL no matter his size.

God I love that little bugger. He was dominant. Let Adams return. And keep Terrell away from him.

Great to hear that about DWill. I think Champ might be out for at least 3-4 weeks (just my initial hunch), so we'll need him to keep playing well. Walls will still be there to cover bigger WRs like Reggie Williams and I guess Foxworth will do covering the slot.
I don't think we'll see dime since our LBs are good enough to stay on the field in coverage, especially Gold so I guess we could survive without Champ since we're not facing a real pass heavy team until week 10 in Oak.
The next few teams in Jax, Wash, New Eng, NYG, Philly don't have high octane passing offenses so I guess in worst case scenario we wouldn't be in terrible shape if Champ was out for an extended time.
