Depends on which defense shows up, the mediocre first half defense or the lights out second half defense.
And the offense needs to start scoring some 1st half touchdowns. The Chiefs are going to score points no matter what. We need a RB and TE to step up, along with the offensive line.

Here's what I liked about the game tonight...
-Oakland was actually able to pressure Green more often than you'll usually see. Hopefully we can break down the game and figure out how.
-The Chefs defense still looks like its got plenty of issues. We should be able to exploit some of them.
Here's what I didn't like...
K.C. had a lot of success exploiting _aklan_'s aggressive defensive play-calling with dumps and screens. That's going to drive us nuts next week if we have to blitz, and it leaves the short stuff open all day for Green to pick us apart.
The key? Pressure with the front four, as usual. Can we do that???

Roaf will prolly be back next week. That wont help. If we play okay, we'll lose by 6. We have to have a superior effort because they are a better ballclub. Not to happy about it being a night game given our recent history but the crowd really has to help us out this week. Its absolutely essential that we win this game.

The Chiefs have the advantage. They just looked better overall. I like that its a home game, but its a nationaly broadcast game, so we usually choke. It'd be nice of the Broncos didn't ebarrass themselves on national TV for once. I'll be there in person, so I hope that I can do my part to make some noise and play 12th man.

We will have to really play well to win. I think we can move the ball on that defense despite our mistakes. But we arent going to score in the 30s or anything like that. I think we will need about 28 to win and that will be hard to come by. We have to play very well. I think the boys will play really hard, we will see if its enough.

Right now I just don't see Denver beating KC this year. Granted KC has players dropping like flies out there, but their offense is still doing great. Denvers offense however, well, if they play the way they have been playing, the defense will not be able to keep it close enough. Right now, I see KC leaving Denver with a 13 point victory.

What the fúck is your deal with the name calling? I gave out my opinion on how I see the game going. Oaklands offense has been far more productive then Denvers offense, and you think Denver can hang with them? This isn't last year, and Denvers offense hasn't done jack to show that they can hang with anyone. I want Denver to win more than anything, but they haven't shown me squat that they will be able to do it. KCs defense is looking alot better and is doing a very good job stopping the run. Add that to the fact that Denver is having a hard time running the ball, and that is a recipe for desaster for the Broncs.
BTW, I didn't see them choking against the Raiders tonight, and by all means it counts. Now if all you have is more name calling, then I'm done with you.

We are going to put ourselves behind the 8-ball if we start MA again. He just isnt effective. Nothing has changed. If you remember back before the 2001 season he had an awesome camp as well. I remember reading about that in CNNSI among other places. It just doesnt carry over. It has to be either Bell or Dayne or a combination. MA isnt going to do anything on the ground. MA can come in on obvious passing downs to help block.

Not that good? Us easily winning the game? Sorry I cant see us easily winning ANY game, much less beating the Chiefs easily.
We saw how good Miami was today. The Jets beat them by what 10 and the Chiefs raped them. They also played in a hostile environment in Oakland and did a fairly decent job against their offense. Right now, I dont have to hesitate at all to say that the Chiefs have a better football team than us. However, we are at home this week, and we are still getting better as a football team. For half the game, we showed the type of fire and intensity on defense to match the very high talent level we have on that side of the ball and you saw the results. We shut down a good offense. We will have to have alot more of that on Monday Night to beat a somewhat superior Chiefs team. And we will have to keep growing as a team and playing better. The staff corrected some of the mistakes of the Miami game but there are still plenty of mistakes we made and some of them are not correctable.

It's going to be very tough. They are a complete team this year and we look more like a team finding their identity. My one hope is that maybe this was the game where our Defense discovered who they are. If the D can play close to the way they did today, and Darrent Williams continues to impress on special teams, we can give our offense some chances. That is quite a large number of "ifs".
The scarriest thing for me is that the game's on national TV. Given the way that we play in those kinds of games, I'm just hoping that we can keep up. I think we have a chance to win, but it looks like advantage Chiefs right now. One thing is for certain: I'm going to lose my voice doing my part Monday night. :militia:

Overrated? ESPN had us at 13 to start the season, nobody picked us to do anything more than win the division. All the media last week said the Jets choked that game away, barely a mention of the team that actually WON the game.
Last year we were overrated, this year we were lost in the fray before the season began.

First of all tonight the referees handed the game to the cheifs. Their defense isnt that great, and their O-line sucks without Willie Roaf. His backup was huffing and puffing after 3 or 4 plays which led to back to back holding calls. Kansas City isnt going to come into our house and beat us, cant believe some bronco fans are actually saying otherwise. KC didnt impress me tonight.

I agree the chiefs look good this year and alot like a couple years ago, but I just think the broncos will come out very hard since they got killed last december in kc. Now if oakland would have won then I would be a little scared about this game because denver would relax a little bit since there in a tie for first place in the afc west. Since they ended up with a FG out of that drive. The final would have been 21-23 KC had they gotten the TD. If you wanna argue that the game would have turned out differently, you could. However even with that TD the Raiders still wouldn't have taken the lead.
The Raiders collapse was due to (actual) penalties, 2 key fumbles, and dropped passes. The refs didn't hand KC this game, the Raiders did.

Did I say that? I said you did what you needed to do to win the game. I didn't watch the game but I did see a few bad snaps which has nothing to do with your D at all. Still KC took what the Jets gave them and there is nothing wrong with that. I do however think its hard for any team to win a game if they fumble 6 times and I don't think they did against the Phins today.

Ok lets take 6 fumbles total, 2 forced by KCs Defense, and the other 4 caused by the Jets mistakes. Which is greater? 2 or 4? Take you time and use your PC calculator if needbe.

I'm not sure why it matters. We won by 20 freaking points.
And it was last week.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda. The Chiefs dropped passes and turned the ball over, missed a field goal, too. They were far from perfect this week or last week.
You should be worried about covering Randy Moss. Do you think your team can hold the Raiders to 17 points? _i_O_i_

Yes, the flag on Moss was questionable. So was the no-call on Randy's TD. He clearly shoved Sammy Knight in the back.

Nfl is week to week. I am talking about a tough Miami defense against us week one.
You know, that's a great point.
The NFL is very odd right now. The Broncos were waxed by Miami. The media darling Vikings are 0-2 and were thrashed by the Bengals(ha-ha!). The Colts barely beat the Jags in a game where Manning had 122yds 0TD's and a pick. Culpepper just threw 5 ints in a game. Atlanta looked dominant against the Eagles and lost to Seattle. Chicago opened up a can of giganitc butt-stompin' on the media darling Lions. Carolina handled the Pats and beat them solidly. Miami looked like world-beaters against Denver and got beat by the sorry Jets. The "sexy" Raiders are 0-2. Tennessee just dominated Baltimore. The Brownies won at Lambeau. Tampa just beat the media darling Bills soundly.
You really cant get a handle on the league right now. It's pretty crazy. The real teams will start standing up in about 3-4 weeks.

Free Agency and the Salary Cap has made the NFL a very competitive sport. It's all about "Now" in the NFL. You used to groom playes and let them sit their first couple of years. You don't have time to do that any more. It's all about reloading and filling the gaps from season to season. If you try to rebuild you get left behind and coaches get fired.

Right. Here's another good one: at the end of week 1 Carson Palmer, Trent Dilfer and Gus Frerotte ranked 3-4-5 in the NFL QB rankings and Miami was the NFL's total offense leader. Think that might change? :yep:

I disagree. The Faide doesn't have a target that is as reliable as Gates and the Faides QB get's way too rattled too easily.
The Faiders are all glitze, they have some serious issues on offense. They still can't spread the ball around to the other two WRs. The have nobody getting those tough yards over the middle.
SD's offense is much more balanced.

I will say that SD's offense resembles that of KC. They have similar skill players in Green/Brees, Gates/Gonzo, LT/Priest, McCardell/Kenninson.
Both offenses run through their RB/TE first and foremost, relient on the QB to be accurate and spread the ball around.
I do think Denver's defense will have the ability to contain KC, especially if Roaf sits out or isn't 100%, but whether they can actually do it for 4 quarters is another story.
The scary thing about KC's offense is that, you could play great D for 3 quarters, and that offense will still put up 21 points in a very short time span.
Defensively, KC has looked better the last two games but KC's defense usually looks good anyway when the offense is humming. Slow the offense down and KC's defense will have it's usual troubles against the pass. It's going to be very tough game to call but KC has the initial advantage right now given our inconsistencies on O, especially in the red zone.

That's encouraging. I think most KC fans would agree that KC's offense has looked pretty average since the first quarter of the Jet game compared to what they usually do.
If true, I can't wait to see what KC's defense looks like once the offense gets it's legs underneath it.

I think this game is tailor made for Lelie. KC doesn't have much of a pass rush apart from it's blitz and Warfield is still suspended. Apart from Surtain, the rest of that secondary are flat footed dummies and Shanny will try to get Lelie matched up with Mcleon or Sapp.
We have to get that big play going again to Lelie. If Plummer can connect with him on a couple of long passes then it'll take off a lot of pressure on the rest of the team. They've gone very close the first two games but I think this is where they should hook up for long gains.

Except for two things. Neither DB was looking at the ball and impeded the Receivers Progress. That is an automatic PI against the DB. McCRYon should never have drawn that Flag for OPI. You CAN NOT face guard in the NFL, the DB must see the Ball when the contact is made. Neither Knight nor McCRYon had any Idea where the ball was.
The Holding penalty on Walker was righteous though. He Mugged Derrick Johnson for Sure.
