View Full Version : Number Drops to Denver -2 1/2

San Diego money has driven the number in the game down to Denver -2 1/2. I figured this would happen because they had it at Denver -3 @ -105 for a while. I know The Man didn't want to move this game off 3 and the value at 2 1/2 is considerable, given past history. I think I'll drive around looking for this one.

The O/U is 45 and holding steady. That seems right on the money.

Hey slap who do you wager with? I use 5dimes... great book!

I suspect the line will be down to 2 or even 1.5 before kickoff.... IMO the best bet on the board this week is Mia +6

I've worked out to around 55% over the last four years. I've turned into a streak player, which I hate. My last really successful season was 2000, which was around 70%. I had some unreal hot streaks at the beginning of that year. I was off work for a couple months due to surgery that season. I was able to devote a lot of time to studying angles whilst flat on my ass recuperating and it paid off. Unfortunately my medical bills kept me from utilizing a bankroll that year, so all my action was of the spare cash variety. Bit of a kick in the nuts, that.

I like the Chargers, on the $$$$$$$ line.

In fact, I would probably give someone a field goal. I also like New England over Carolina, and the Jags give Manning fits. Fred Taylor owns the Colts also.

But I refuse to bet against Manning so my money is on the Chargers and the defending Champions.

I like those picks except for the NE game... I'd leave that one alone, but I agree on the total in the AZ game... I also think the Denver game will go under the total... and I hate to say it but I think the Chargers win the game straight up also. Jags always play the colts tough... I think the Colts win by 7

Denver has me totally baffled, but I'm tempted.

I thought Minnesota would dispatch, Broncos would handle Miami...

alot of "experts" were way off. Not just me. Hell, Iowa even got manhandled by Iowa State. It happens with those two tho. Iowa is going to massacre Northern Iowa, If Drew Tate gets out of bed from his concussion.

Tate is like a Flutie, but I'm not putting him in if he's still groggy.

I used to put as much as $500 on parlays, so $2500 was my best payout. I did that a couple times. I haven't put more than $200 on anything in more than ten years, (except fantasy leagues, I guess).

Most of my plays are in the $50 to $100 range. I'm too jaded to play less than that on straight bets, but I'll throw the occasional $20 parlay card, too. Could probably save myself the trouble by just throwing twenty bucks out the window on the freeway.

My younger brother worked an excellent betting angle with the USPGA golf a few years back. Living in Ireland we didn't get much coverage of the golf on the US circuit but he was an avid fan. he used to ring the course where the tournament was on the 1st day (Thursday) and find out the leaderboard. The betting shops over here in Ireland were still offering starting odds on guys that were playing the back 9 or even in some cases had finished their 1st round. So he was getting outsiders at big odds who were sometimes 8 or 9 under after the 1st rd. Over the period of about a year him and his mate made close to 15 grand before betting shops caught on and updated their technology!

I usually bet against my team when they are favored...Makes it less painful when they lose and always a chance they win the game and don't cover which is a big homerun.

My dumb brother-in-law lives with my wife and I ( long story) .

He has a knack ...if he bets ON the Broncos they will lose outright.
He's a homer so he would only bet ON them. Mind you these are only personal bets (friends etc, so no line). But he was wrong every time. almost like he had the most negative karma in the world. If he likes it it turns to shiat.

I had to tell him that if he kept betting on them he could find other living quarters after the Cinnci game last year. I don't think he made any other bets

I don't know if he bet on the Broncos last week... :vermeil:

The Man tattooed my ass last week. 2-5-1 against the number. I felt like crap until I saw the best handicapper on my betting forum started the season 0-9-1. He's gripping big time, too. Lots of people trail his picks every week and I guess some of them gave him crap about his performance. Needless to say, he had a mini meltdown. Can't really blame the guy. Suffer through a nightmare week and then have a bunch of parasites start in with the backbiting.

Denver -2 1/2 - I found the line I wanted at my neighborhood book, which was nice. I'm very happy to be fading the public on this game. Everybody is overreacting to the Miami fiasco, not just this forum. We all know the history between these two clubs in Denver and its not going to change tomorrow.

Buffalo +2 1/2 - This is my big play tomorrow. I was sorely tempted to take the money line, which I generally like to do when getting less than three points. Unfortunately the chiselers at the SunCoast were only offering +120 on the ML, so I just took the points.

KC/Oak Over 53 1/2 - Small play on the TV game. Its a bit risky to take a big number over this early in the season. The defenses tend to have the edge the first few weeks. I just can't imagine this game being anything but a shootout, though. I think Trent Green has to licking his chops for this matchup and I fully expect a big performance out of Moss in his first home game as a Raider.

Really uncommon to see them as a dog at home. Didn't happen at all last year. They probably would have been underdogs in week 17 if Indy had been trying, though.

I didn't play any of these games, but I considered them.

Jacksonville +9 @ Indy seems like good value. The Jags won straight up in Indy last year and they're better offensively this year. They won't win, but they should hang close.

Just like last year, New England seems like good value. They're laying three to the Panthers. Carolina is a good team, but the Pats are unfazed by playing on the road. I think the Pats need to shore up their interior run defense, though. They could get shoved around a bit in this matchup.

The Eagles number has dropped from -13 1/2 to -12 against SF. With McNabb playing hurt already, I think you either take the points in this spot, or lay off and I'm going to lay off. I heard Derek Smith and Jeff Ulbrich chirping about how badly they want to get a couple hits in on TO tomorrow. Interesting little subplot in that game.

Still plenty of people lining up to bet the Rams this week. I guess they might win outright, but its going to be 99 degrees in AZ at gametime tomorrow. The Rams figure to wilt like hothouse flowers again. I stayed away, though.

I kind of liked Atlanta +1 @ Seattle, but laid off and played the Broncos instead. The Falcons are the better team, but they're coming off a short week and an emotional win. I think a letdown is possible here. Seattle's not a bad team at home, so I decided to stay away.

The public really loves Green Bay and Cleveland over 42. I think its probably a good play, but I want to see how Green Bay reacts to the loss of Javon Walker.

I know a guy who plays every game on the board that's listed at 39 1/2 or lower under the total. He finished ahead last season. This theory kind of exploits a built in tendency of the public to play totals over.
