how many drops we have today?
Seems like I saw a shatload.
Alexander, Putz, Lelie, I all saw have multiple drops. Even Rod had a couple. WTF, don't these guys practice CATCHING? Why can't our guys catch?

I saw Rod catch more uncatchable balls than drop catchable ones. Not very many passes were on the money either. A couple of Ash's and Alexander's on the 3rd down stick out the most to me, drive killers.

Drive killers is right.
A few catches sure would've helped. 1 for 12 on third down conversions sure left our D high and dry.
If I were on the coaching staff, I would sit Ash next game and give one of the youngsters a shot to make plays.

Yeah, you're right.
Let's give Ash another season to learn, hearing all along about how amazing he has looked in practice and how this year, he will establish himself as a short and intermediate threat, not just a long ball guy.

ash deserves to sit. he dropped 2 TD passes today, one of them right off his hands in the endzone. hello? can you say professional? you're supposed to catch stuff when you're, like, a receiver. give adams a chance. or get somebody off the wire. anybody decent available out there?

i wish everyone would shut up, this is the worst game we will ever play. Our team didnt show up period. All phases of the game took a crap and dont blame it on Lelie. Really blame it on Shanny because he didnt get this team prepared and focused.

You know, I really can't blame our WR's for drops today. In fact I think we should all be thankful that none of WR's had a heart attack when Jake finally put one on target! Jake was very erratic today...I'm not completely with TJ on Plummer yet, but I'm starting to lean that way!

Agreed. The only thing that made me mad about Ash today was the miss in the endzone on the "free" play.

One clue is that 'everybody' dropped some could it be that Plummer has lousy touch? Or did every receiver, TE and RB dip ther hands in Crisco today. Maybe a little of both.
Ash dropped three that were catchable, Rod two, Alexander 2, Bell one, Putz one or two, Adams one.
Many of those dropped were either 100mph fast-rising heaters from close range or wounded ducks thrown too far behind or short of the receiver, who ever it happend to be. The one Ash should have had for sure is the second quarter drop in the endzone that was mostly on him though it was coming in a 100mph and rising fast too, but he still should have had that going away.
Rod made one great diving lunging catch near the goaline, whereas if it was somewhat on target he walks in for a TD. On that series Plummer wound up getting the ball stripped on the 1 yrd line and run back for a TD. And Rod also caught two that were thrown way behind him making great grabs.
Sure all of those should have been caught that guys actaullly touched, but teh reality is when a QB is so erratic the receivers have no idea where the ball is going to be nor how its coming and it doesnt make it any easier. I'd hate to be a WR with Plummer at QB.
Plummer is hot and in a groove at times but never for long. And during this particular game he looked like he was trying so hard not to throw an INT or make a mistake that he had dancing feet and locked onto his primary reciever too long and was forcing the ball into some bad throws. He just didnt seem to have any touch whatsover today be that on the soft floater screens or the rising fast balls.
The bottom line is he rarely puts the ball on the money with any kind of consistency and thats going to have a direct effect on drops and tips and eventually INTs.
That doesnt excuse the drops that were catchable in the slightest, pro WR are paid to make the tough catch, but it's just a matter of fact that there is a realtionship between number of catches and QB accuracy. You get a QB that is accurate you get less dropped and tipped balls, all things else being equal.
Rod has caught less passes each year under Jake than he did under Greise even though he's been an even more central weapon for Plummer than he was for Greise cause Plummer never really had Eddie Mac and only Sharpe for part of his first year.
Rod may have lost a step, but the past two years he was plenty fast and still our #1 WR . Jake still gets some yards from some of the big plays he does throw, and from the games when he is really on, but over a season a general inconsistency like that tends to shows up in a lot of ways and usually costs the team eventually.

Yeah DB4L I'm hoping Terrell can be the big possession receiver that can take some of the heat off of Plummer. And NAte JAckson could be a big help when hes good to go. Both are big guys with decent hands too.

I dunno, but there was waaay too much of that. No wonder Plummer's percentage sucked...™

I think we need to bring Hape back as well. He does that thing in the end zone that really helps the team out.

Two weeks if we are lucky. Maybe sooner but I would think he has some learning to do before they toss him out there.

Ya, good thing you guys got in the playoffs.
So how many "this was just awful we didn't show up this will never happen again" cards do you get every year?

I see alot of "blame Plummer" posts here, but you have to see the big picture. Sure, Plummer didnt really make anything happen, but where were those WR's? Rod was the only guy out there who would make the catch most of the time.
The run game was also terrible. Bell was horrible. The red zone offense is no better than it was last year, and it looks worse. With no legit running threat, Jake was expected to make all of the plays and we know that you cant expect that from him.
I saw drives killed in crunch time by drops and QB pressure. Jake's fumble was really after-the-fact.

Well he looked like it yesterday. He and Plummer played the worst I have ever seen them yesterday.
Yes guys missed a few catches. But How many open guys were missed yesterday with poor passes. A few of those drops were guys trying to make difficult catches when they were WIDE OPEN. Alexander's third down "DROP" comes to mind. No one else anywhere around, minimal pressure and Jake throws a wounded Duck at his ankles :cuss:
Ashlie was ten yards wide open in a zone, and plummer threw a PUNT towards him that landed ten yards out of bounds and up field. He threw several passes too low as well. I am sick to my stomach with his lack of Clutch Performances in Important games.
This was an Important game Fellas. Every single game is important when you only have 16. We would be tied with KC at top of the AFCW with the easiest opening game of the west. We would be 1-0 in the first tie breaker for the division tie breaker.
I am officially on the Jake Plummer sucks bandwagon until further notice. His QB rating was abyssmal until the last two drives where Miami played off and allowed underneath receptions. He also pussed out scrambling a few times. Leaders do not fail to show up this consistantly!

Hell yeah he pussed out scrambling, I remember in the first half he was in the middle of the field on 3rd down running and slid three yards short of the first down instead of putting his head down and going for it, He might of made it might not have but at least try!

It seems our squad is suffering from a serious case of vaginitis. I'm pretty bitter. A loss is tough but I can deal. That was not just a loss, it was a disgrace of monumental proportions. Top to bottom the whole outfit stunk up the joint. I think the only guy who doesn't deserve blame for yesterday is the groundskeeper at Mile High. Of course, the Broncos were on the road.

I find it hard to believe that any running back would have done any better than Bell did with that awful blocking. Seriously, it didn't matter if it was a running or passing play, our offensive line was horrible!

I do think Shanny was relying on MA to help pound it in and improve the red zone offense. there goes that idea...again.
