View Full Version : Trevor Pryce and Assley Lelie

**** both of these guys.
Lelie looks as lost as usual... running bad routes and dropping TDs. He added a couple of penalties to his act today, though. Gotta appreciate that.
Did Trevor Pryce suit up? We should have traded this schmuck when we had the chance.
Certainly a lot of blame to go around today, but those are two of our supposed "stars" who just continue to add nothing to this team. I hope we bench Lelie for Adams or Watts next week. He's horrific.

As for Pryce, think back and tell me the last time he could even be spotted in a big game.

part of the problem with pryce is the fact that they could just throw quick short passes because our corners were playing 10 yards off the ball. Not much of a chance to get pressure when they run that short of routes and quick passes

The wobbler to Alexander on a 3rd & 5 when they were still in it was pitifull.
Then Deadskins win to boot, only way we are getting top 5 pick is with our own pick not Washingtons.

Right ...a big mistake was all the blitzing in the game. I think we blitzed on almost every down..and left the secondary hanging. and playing off so far meant they had an easy 6-7 yards. If they were going to blitz so much they should have the secondary at least trying to jam on the line.
face it our offense left the
d out there the whole game and they got tired.
BAD game plan all around.

Taco, he escapes mention because it's a thread dedicated to Pryce and Lelie. Go start a **** Plummer thread.
I CAN point at lelie for being horrible. He's lost on every other play. He can't run short routes, he dropped a TD, he gave up on the play where Plummer had to scramble near the endzone, he had two penalties and couldn't get separation the entire game... and the one time he did, Plummer floated a nice pass for him that he simply had to run under. What's he do? He STOPS and runs back towards the ****ing DB. Great instincts, ASSley.
He's an embarrassment. He'll catch the occasional bomb and is useless, otherwise. He's a poor man's James Jett.
As for Plummer... gee, why might he have looked trapped? Did you notice the 4 Dolphins up his asshole every time he took a snap? How about the DBs draped all over his receivers. Then there's that fantastic running game.
Yea, I suppose he should have rose above having absolutely no support or protection.

Jake, Alexander, Ash, Walls, Wilson, Gold, the list goes on and on. Certainly Shanny's piss poor game plan needs to be mentioned here!
First off Jake couldn't throw to save his life. And when he did throw a strike Ash or Alexander or Jeb acted suprised and couldn't make the catch.
What the hell was Shanny's problem? The play calling was HORRIBLE! Down inside the 5 and he couldn't come up with even a decent play call. We get a free play and Ash goes cocofingers on us. Frustrating game is an understatement.
Honestly, it's hard to be upset with anybody on defense. They were out there for what close to 40 minutes! We can't expect them to play well for 40 minutes in Denver... let alone the sauna in Miami!!! That goes on Shanny. Piss poor game management.
I've said it for weeks. This game was an FU game. It was a trap game for many reasons. Playing in Miami. Playing a new HC...that happens to be a defensive master mind. It's not the end of the season, but you can bet the media will be ALL OVER the Broncos and Shanny... and rightfully so. I liken Saban's success to the success of Coyer his first season. A lot of people knew his philosophy, but not many people knew how he'd call it.
Here's to going 15-1!!! A long shot!

We werent' suppose to loose this game. We played a "lesser" opponent then us. These are they type of games you have to win. We almost always play to the skill of our opponent.

Plummer didn't hit the receivers in the hands. :kiddingme He was throwing high and behind his receivers, most of his throws in the first half looked like wounded ducks. He hung Rod out a few times. I like Plummer. I like his moxie, but this was a horrible outing for him. I agree that Lelie, Putz, and Alexander did drop passes, but a lot of it was Plummer's accuracy.
As far as the running game goes. Our Oline just got the tar beat out of them.
The Broncos will recover next week and we will see a completely different performance from all of them. This was an embarassing, shocking game that will kick the team into high gear.
Hopefully Champ will be ready to go next week.

I can sum up what happened in one sentance...
The three players we needed to show up...dident!
Hasent this been a problem with Pryce since the day he was drafted??? Dude Put in Endgelberger He can get it done. The real good question is whos heads resting on the executioners block. The axe is gonna fall if we lose five strait...I could understand four because the way those teams look and the way this one is playing it might take four games to get into the right gear. But if we lose to a team like Washington heads will roll!

Im reluctant to say anything overly negative about the team just yet.
I cant believe that we are going to be that bad all year. I cant believe that Denver is that bad of a team that they will play like this ever again. This was the worst game I have seen Denver play in a very very long time and Ive seen some really ugly stuff just since Elway retired.
Do I think it is because the team is as bad as they played? No. But I do think that the hype machine in Denver needs to take about a decade long break.

Loss today or not, I will still be in front of the tube next Sunday. I'm a Bronco fan win or lose-but a critical one. I'm not overreacting. I've never been a Lelie fan. I want a physical type of reciever. He routinely comes up short on catches.

Shanahan's motivational abilities are right on par with his in game adjustment ability, damned near non-existant! I was thinking that to myself. TRAP GAME. But isn't a trap game when you are playing well first then go play another team that sucks and lose. Just stating the obvious. What championship team doesn't win its division for 6 straight years? Something is clearly missing. Either the personnel or the system. Or worse, both.
Yea cause Belicheck is such a motivator.
Thats a team built on veteran leadership thats already motivated. They only bring in heavily driven guys, whether it be draft or FA. Some guys aren't of course, but they get motivated or they don't pan out. But most all of them are total Type A's.
As for this thread, well, I'm sorry, I can't blame either of them too heavily. Jake just flat out sucked, as did our playcalling. We couldn't keep the defense off the field long enough to keep them remotely well rested. That **** matters, and Shanny just got out-coached.
I also have had my belief that Jake can't through Ashley a good pass consistantly reassured. What a weak deep ball. He might get it to 'em, but in the ugliest way possible. Elway threw laser spirals that a WR can catch crisp and make a move with and YAC is a fundamental of our passing offense. Jake's throws just aren't as consistantly easy to catch. Don't get me wrong, I understand that Elway's completion percentage wasn't amazing, but when he threw you a pass and he was on he was throwing you a tight, easy to catch spiral, even if he was a little off in location. We need that type of QB to run this offense.
I also absolutely hated Shanny's playcalling in the red zone. Trying to pound Bell up the gut? Please, go to Dayne or Kyle Johnson at least a little as a change of pace.
We just got whooped up on by last year's whooping boys. Not because they were better, just because they played harder and out-coached us. Pretty damn pathetic.

To be fair, Bell was the only option other than KJ because Dayne didn't suit up but I dont think it matters how big the back is when the O-line is as small as it is. Sterling Sharpe called us finesse because of our lack of ability to run the ball in the red zone.

was it just the bad TV i watched the game on or has pryce gotten fatter and slower? I saw 93 in the picture a couple times as he got shoved around by the opposing lineman

If people want to play the blame game, I think there are many more likely targets than Pryce and Lelie. How about a RG who spent the day on his back, how about our "coverage"safety that got beat badly at least four times, how about the tight ends who could not block or catch today or how about Jake just not being able to throw the ball at all. Ok, now that venting is over, lets forget it and figure out a way to take it out on the Chargers next week.

Well, I honestly (no exaggeration) didn't see Pryce out there all day... but I assume he's lined up outside most of the time, which is our first mistake. He's too slow to play DE. He's got no closing speed. He's fantastic on the inside, but precious Trevor "doesn't like" playing inside... so we're using him as a pretend DE.
It says on the stat sheet he has a tackle, which is at least an indication that he did indeed play. I can't confirm that.

you think?? they definitely are.. Its embarrassing for you guys to be ragging on our team now! 1 loss is nothing. Sure we normally start hot, but i think a good kick in the rear end is something this team sorely needed.
We need to learn from our mistakes, and move on to next week. Shanny and Coyer will fix the problems and hopefully it shows against the Chargers.
Exactly, I'd rather know what's wrong now than week 11

these are my notes on this game :
the fins knew our first 15 plays ....Dont belive me look at your tape. look at how our coach made the calls for the rest of the game .
On the side lines we were on the hot side of the field(15 degree's hotter than the other side) ,wearing dark jersys in 120 degee's not a good thing .

ive been saying this. WE played bad, true. But there were a few close calls, and things that could have turned the game a different way.
I believe in Shanny that he will get the troops ready for next week.
There are 16 games in a season, not 1. Yes, we have a tough schedule and we needed this game, blah blah blah..... This definitely needed to happen to us sooner than later. If this loss doesnt fire up the team to never play like crap again, i dont know what will.

This is exactly the kind of thing I've been worried about since the offseason: Shanahan made improvements on defense a top priority while completely ignoring some really big problems on offense, e.g., the mediocre passing game.
I said we needed to sign another pro bowl-caliber WR, and everyone told me I was full of sh*t for saying such a thing.
Lelie has had plenty of time to prove himself, and he has proven himself to be VERY inconsistent and not nearly productive enough to deserve the starting job.
I know Jake didn't have a great game today, but I'm really getting sick of seeing him scanning the field and finding nobody open on practically every passing play.

Stonehands isn't going to push coconut hands for the starting job. Coconut hands will be fine once he leaves denver, that's generally how it goes down. Actually there should be a waiver on every contract offered up to players that are interested in playing in denver. It should read

Sometimes I feel the team as a whole is cursed, yeah. But I really think this was just a one time deal for Ash. He proved himself last year. Showed great hands. Same thing with the preseason. He did suck today, there is no question. At all. But he's our best WR I think. He is our key threat. He will be very good despite this poor game. It just pisses me off to see hypocrites like Popps show up, when he is pimping his boy the whole time...we never see a "wake the **** up Watts" thread from him...and he takes the first chance he gets to take a shot at Ash. Lelie is a big-shouldered guy, he doesn't even need to use his arms to separate, but he doesn't use the shoulders to get sepatation early in the pattern. The guy is big, but not physical. He doesn't lean into the defender early, and with that big upper body, he has to do that. Also, the rolloouts are looking for him to get separation, but not just long. Lelie also has to get to the hole in the zone, that's one of the big missing pieces in the puzzle.

Pryce was manhandled all day and he was not double teamed! Just typical Lazy Trevor, only time he will get a sack will be when the QB runs into him cause of the pressure from the other side. We knew this about Lelie the only reason he went for 1000 yards last year was cause of his deep catches, underneath where you really have to "earn" a catch and work to get open he just can't do it.

Our defense gave up 34 pts in the first half. Clearly, Plummer's fault.
Then again, you've shown yourself to be absolutely disinterested in logic long ago.
Like I said... plug in any QB you want today. We still lose. No D, no run game, no protection... and maybe a questionable game plan? Good luck to any QB under those circumstances.

Hey ****face, I DRAFTED Lelie this season for my fantasy team. I really wanted (and hoped) he'd break out, and maybe he still will. But, his act is getting old. He's a a first round pick... a few years into his contract and still can't seem to run a route to save his life. He was god-awful today.
As for Watts, he's in his second year... was drafted lower (and we even took him high) than Lelie... and shows much more in the way of physical talent.
As for me taking the "first chance" I get to take shots at A$$... that's also BS.
I've bit my tongue on that sissy for three years waiting for something to happen. Today was just the breaking point (personally) for me with regards to "stars" like Pryce, Wilson and first round picks like Lelie who continue to disappear every week.
Try paying better attention.

Plummer didn't have much accuracy today, he was all over the place. There were drops, too.
You can't be bad at the QB, WR, RB, TE, OLT, ORT, OLG, ORG, and C with any realistic hopes of having a good season.
I don't mean to take anything from the Dolphins win but if Gus Frerotte can chew up this team somebody is losing a job before the end of the season.

I have to disagree with you. Mike certainly shares in the blame when you consider he's never put a viable veteran on the roster to challenge Plummer for the job, or at least relieve him when he's screwing us, for example every single time we play a decent defense.
Lelie's woes can be just as much placed on Plummer as Lelie.
Smith typicall gets Plummers shorter, more accurate routes that lead to more catchable balls.
Plummer couldn't hit Lelie 20 yards downfield if he was wide-open and standing still facing him.

We will improve or we wont, *sigh* what a bad weekend with Broncos and OSU going down...I remeber NE getting shut out opening day 31-0 and going on to the superbowl, but Ashlie needs to break out as an everydown WR or move him to #3.

Mike certainly shares in the blame when you consider he's never put a viable veteran on the roster to challenge Plummer for the job, or at least relieve him when he's screwing us, for example every single time we play a decent defense.
Just like I blame Pat Bowlen for not challenging Shanny. Shanny has been told by Bowlen that he will no be fired. It has been that way for YEARS. Plummer inturn has some sort security blanket around his job as slap eluded to.
How many of us go to work everyday knowing that we cannot be fired?
It's just a big complacent shiat sandwich and meanwhile the Orangemane spent 8 months disecting ever possible scenario for this team and we rolled out with the same product this year........ an inconsistent offense that can't even get a first down to save it's life to start the game. :nono:
I've cut this group alot of slack but not anymore. It's getting harder and harder to remember the glory days of the superbowls. We were extremely lucky to have been able to taste success and now that we got it we want more.
I think was is frustrating for me is that Shanny and Bowlen continue to say we are 1 or 2 players away from the superbowl and we are never even close to a superbowl caliber team. I'd rather just hear that we are rebuilding instead of the same ole line of BS every season. What's scary is maybe these guys really think we are just one or two players away. The talent is definetly around which is also frustrating. I can see losing to Miami but not getting embarassed by them. There is no excuse for that gameplan and not being able to have 1 yard passing by the end of the 1st quarter. None.
We flat out abandoned the run and Jake looked like a chicken with his head cut off the first few drives. There were some plays on defense where the team looked so tired that I think I could have had better coverage down field carrying a coors and a cigar in my mouth. :charge:
Alot of us that went to camp were frustrated at how many times practice was cancelled or called short because of a little rain or thunder. Randy Gradishar flat out told us "Traing camp is a country club these days". Well it showed on how prepared and fit this team was.
I can take a loss but I can't swallow how sad this team looked. We got beat down in every phase of the game and to end it like we did was flat out pathetic. Shanny could have atleast given BVP some reps and spared Plummer some embarrasement on behalf of all Broncos Country when the game was already over.

Now that I'm calm, here's my two cents. We seem to have these type of games against more physical teams. It's quite evident (or should be) that the only good thing left about the offensive philososphy of the running game. And even that doesn't work when the OL is being dominated by a more physical and motivated team.
As many have said, there's plenty of blame to go around. My concern is that we are having more and more games like this over the last 4-5 years. If this holds true we can already chalk up losses to Baltimore , NE, Jville, SD, Eagles, and possibly the Skins.
Someone earlier mentioned the play of the OL. These guys were flat out dominated! Not one, but two goal line stands by the Miami defense. Not taking anything away from how well the Dolphins played, but finesse just doesn't work when you need power. How I long for the days we had physical guys like Zim, Jones, Stinky, etc. Guys that had a physicality these OL don't seem to possess.
Sorry about the soapbox but this team is becoming so predictable. Let's identify 4 significant areas we fans and other teams already know about this team:
1. With Jake at the controls, it's all or nothing. He can't and shouldn't be counted on to carry this team.
2. We can expect the team to play flat and be seemingly unmotivated when we need just the opposite.
3. Teams with physical DL's create the most problems for our offense
4. Shanahan is one of the worst coaches at making adjustments during a game. If the original gameplan doesn't work, he's seems to be at a loss on what to do to counter what the other team is doing.
I could bash the team more and complain, but it's moot at this point. The game is over and our weaknesses from previous years are still present. Until those are addressed, expect more of the same....mediocrity!
I understand that it's only the first game, but I'm willing to wait till the season is over to see if all that I've said here still holds true.

Lelie's woes can be just as much placed on Plummer as Lelie.
Smith typicall gets Plummers shorter, more accurate routes that lead to more catchable balls.
Plummer couldn't hit Lelie 20 yards downfield if he was wide-open and standing still facing him.
Wrong, watch the tape yesterday and watch the pre-season games. Lelie is being sent on comeback routes, slants and many shorter variety routes..... he just can't run them. As for Plummer hitting Assley 20 yards down field... he did, The Assman just ran backwards into the DB .

six pages.
i dont have the energy to read them all.
come on guys.
stop looking for one or two players to blame.
this game was a COMPLETE disaster, and the blame is endless.
the gameplan was awful on both sides of the ball.
the players werent prepared for a morning game.
the coaches and trainers didnt have everyone hydrated.
the line couldnt block douglas county high schools defensive line.
we sacrificed coverage for blitz's all day even after it was apparent they were prepared.
we had a multitude of dropped balls (remember lelie was the most sure handed guy on our team last year)
we had jake throwing 90 mph heaters from ten yards away (probably scared not to get it there in a hurry since no one was open the first half)
we had one of our most anemic ground games in the shanahan era.
we had VERY questionable playcalling in the redzone (can someone tell me where the qb draw went? where 3 or 4 wide inside the ten went? where power running went?)
the list goes on.......and on.......and on.
it was an atrocity.
all we can do is hope that the team learned from this collapse.
that they can USE it to propel them through the season, much like new england used their early season thrashing a couple years back to their advantage.
we HAVE the talent on this team.
we can crumble, or we can take what we want.
win the next two games and we are in first place with tiebreakers.
lose and we are in severe trouble.
lets judge this team after these next two games.
clearly this one was an aberration, and clearly EVERYONE is responsible.

I can not believe how everyone is so down on Ashley and Trevor..
1) Ashley had a bad game, no denying that. He had a fantastic year last year and he showed that he is more of a complete receiver in the Colts game (granted it was preseason) than last year. I'm thrilled Ashley is on our team and he will come up huge this year, mark my words..
2) As for Trevor Pryce, man the guy was out all last year with a severe back injury. Before that, he was our best d-line by far. This is his first game since injury, so when was the last time he came up big you ask, well the answer is the game before his injury. Give him some time and he'll perform. He is solid. Our DL did a good job I thought given the circumstances. I mean come on, our offense went 3 and out so many times that our defense was constantly on the field and in that weather it is easy to get drained..
Agree on Adams, and even Watts has shown better route running... just shaky hands.
As for Pryce, think back and tell me the last time he could even be spotted in a big game.
Opening day... road game.... time to set the tempo for the season... I swear, I never even saw Pryce in camera view. I'm not joking when I ask if he suited up. He's a disgrace.

As for Watts, he's in his second year... was drafted lower (and we even took him high) than Lelie... and shows MUCH more in the way of physical talent.
lmfao!!!
Another rant by the blind expert. Is being able to catch a football part of neccessary physical talent, for a WR specifically? bwaa haa haaa haaaaa.
lmfao!!!!

This pretty much sums up my opinion on the whole franchise right now. Thank you for putting it in words while I continue to bash the crap out of the team. Rooting for them hasn't worked, so bashing them will have to do until things are changed. Good post meck.

look at it this way, all 11 guys on offense got their butts kicked yesterday. Let's see what that "bad taste" in their mouths does for their game against the bolts.
"Broncos beat the Chargers" -I guarantee it .....and I will also paint any car for 99.95!

That was a haymaker. I'd like to argue with that, but I can't. I'd have no solid ground to stand on.
So let's see what the team brings Sunday. Too much playing on the heels from what I've seen. I'm a happy guy living in possibly Championshipville if the team attacks with glee and abandon at every opportunity. Football isn't a chess game, it's who can kick ass.
