[Palm Beach Post] Unless the Dolphins go on a ticket-selling spree this morning, Sunday's 1 p.m. game against Denver will not be broadcast on local television.
"Several thousand tickets" were available as of Wednesday afternoon, according to team spokesman Harvey Greene. The game must sell out by 1 p.m. today to avoid a local blackout.
The last home opener that didn't sell out was in 1992 against the Los Angeles Rams, when 55,945 tickets were sold (capacity now is 75,540). The 1997 opener against Indianapolis was blacked out but the game was sold out by kickoff.
The Dolphins are giving more than 4,000 tickets to military, fire and police personnel.

Like many NFL franchises, the fan base is soft, with great attendance prompted by a great team, and/or a great opponent

Nationally, the Dolphins have one of the stronger fan bases.
However, South Florida takes them for granted. With the exception of last season, the Dolphins generally have put out a good product for 35 years running. There's no excuse for their fan apathy.

You know its not just the Dolphins, look at the Marlins and the Lightning, relatively poor attendance yet A quality franchises.

Even when they had Marino, I remember a playoff game that they couldn't sell out. Talk about sad. People rip our fan base for being soft or fairweather, but we still sell out every game consistantly and have one of the longest wait lists for season tickets.

That will probably give them another point against the spread

They don't seemed worried, most posters say the tickets are always bought up before the deadline.

As long as I see the Broncos I could care less if the whimpy Fish fans see their team or not. They probably won't enjoy the game anyway.

Maybe they could sell more tickets if their team wasn't too busy playing doctor with each other ....
