As you guys know Disco Man ran into George Foster and his girlfriend the other day. Well we just got a call from George's girlfriend and they asked if the Omane and OF1 would help with the relief effort. You see there are over 4,000 people now in Denver that lost their homes because of Katrina. Ms. Campell has been helping organize this event and they have teamed up with several local charities who will be distributing food, clothing, money directly to the thousands of people who have migrated to Denver.
We'll be @ 19th and Blake @ 6:00am. The donation drive will go until 6:00pm. Some local radio stations will be broadcasting live on location all day to give the people of Denver the information on where to donate.
Below is a list of some of the players from the Nuggets and Broncos that will be attending. This is not the complete list as Ms. Campell said more Broncos players are expected to show after practice which ends @ 5:00pm. The Nuggets will be on scene all day. Also Mayor Hickenlooper will be there helping out.
I'm not 100% certain on what she said but I believe Kenyon Martin has pledged to match funds up to $1,000,000.
I've contacted some of the local Omaners here in town and they agreed to help out! If any of you guys want to come down to help out Ms. Campell said they could use all the help they could get.
Once I get on the scene I'll be updating what's going on and try to find a link where you can donate if you want to help out!
OF1's BBQs will be running all day for the volunteers so come on down!

Great job getting this together. It so happens that Topeka will be having an all-day fund raiser Thursday, as well. As long as people pitch in something to help, it's all good...

These are going to be some happy refugees, considering others who are packed in like sardines. As usual, you never fail to amaze me Meck. Well done...I mean the sausage...hold the mustard.
This is where you can be a hero as a sports star. I have a feeling there just might be a few more people pop in. Have fun, I wish I could go.
Kenyon Martin offering to match up to 1 million makes Deion's little speach sound contrite doesn't it, as well as the NFL pledge of a whopping 1 million.
Combined, I expect 100 million from the teams. Any less, will be dissapointing.
Anyone know if that media baron Murdoch has done anything yet?

Hey that's great. I hope they all find jobs out there and rebuild. Not that I don't want NOLA back, but just that it'll be months if not longer before NOLA is open.

Way to go, guys...you are doing a great thing! The OrangeForceOne team never ceases to amaze me :)
Unfortunately, I do not think I am going to be able to make it. My thoughts and prayers have been and are with the victims of Hurricane Katrina - give them all a "shout out" for me tonight and have fun!

Don't forget AK1971 helped out as well. Thanks for helping set up. What I was told was something like $12,000 came into the buckets! Kenyon Martin matched that and Greg Buckner(Nuggets Player and founder of the Buckner Foundation) is kicking in 10K. So that's $32,000 going directly into the pockets of the estimated 4,000 new members of our community.
It was an incredible day. People were coming from all directions delivering food, water, clothes, toys, and cash. I'll try to get some pictures up this evening. There were Nugget players standing side by side with Omaners collecting cash. Everybody was the same yesterday. There were even kids from NO that relocated here that were helping out. One of our fellow tailgaters "Pete" the little guy with the beard worked all day and most of his family lived in NO and lost many homes. He has to move from Denver now to go help them. Pete we'll miss you buddy.
I cannot say enough about the efforts from the Buckner Foundation Group. Buckner is a class act along with the members of his team. They worked their tail off.
Mayor Hickenlooper dropped in on OF1 also. We gave him a quick tour and sat him at the bar for a bit. We should him the Hooters Magazine where they listed his bar as a great place to go before tailgating...lol He loved it.
What was real cool was he signed the bus right above the door. It says Mayor Hickenlooper "Mile High Forever!!!!". :militia:
I know there are alot of things going on in other cities but I'm just proud to be resident of Denver, Colorado. There are many other things going on for our local hurrincane victims also. There were similar events around town and more scheduled. I even heard an apartment complex is giving some of the people free rent for 1 year!
Oh almost forogt. Shout out to Club Rise http://www.rise-nightclub.com/?www.thedjlist.com for providing their store front for the event to take place along with donating supplies to the Donation Drive. Also to the guys at KS107.5 for pimping the event on the air waves all day.
Denver is stepping up to do it's part!

We sure do. He's actually done a pretty good job IMO. He bascially is the guy who started the lodo renovation with his bar businesses. He's an entrepreneur at heart and also happens to be a die hard Broncos Fan. Infact when he was running for mayor part of his platform was to save the name MILE HIGH. He forked out alot of dough out of his own pocket to try and save it.
