Brown didn't play enough, it has to be Ekuban or Engelberger I'd think. Anyone know for sure?

I'd rather start Ekuban and let Brown get into the mix slowly on Sunday. I want to see him fresh and healthy against the Chargers and Chiefs.

I think who is starting will be lost in the rotation. Coyer will go with the guy that is matching up best. Allthese guys have different skill sets and hopefully a couple will shine enough to get constant pressure.

Look at the Broncos Depth Chart and one thing stands out immediately. Denver has Zero Rookie Starters, and Only five Different Starters than Last year. They also have only three Unique Starters in the Browns DL.
This team has a good Familiarity and Chemistry. The Continuity on the OL for sure should help out as there have been no Changes since the final five games of last year. On Defense, Gold, Ferguson, and Walls have all been starters. They Know how Coyer wants to play. The DL has a lot more Penetration and Quickness especially at DT. All Five DE's are Good Pass Rushers.
For Bob or any Troll to fail to address the Fact that this team has improved significantly on Defense is Pure Denial and Wishful thinking. The Defense got the Players it wanted to improve on a fourth place unit. KC got some players to improve a 32cd place unit? So if both upgraded at need positions, who would still be better???
The Offense should be even better at execution along the OL and the Skill position players have been upgraded with having Anderson, Alexander, and Johnson as full time Starters too. IMHO that is also a significant talent Upgrade.

All good points:
The depth on D is amazing and should serve us well in the humidity.

I love all your points and agree with most of them. However, this team always looks deep at this point in the season. Yet somehow it just doesn't translate to wins late in the season. I am optimistic, but I am going to contain my enthusiasm until I see them winning games in November.

He's right folks. Last year it was Luther Ellis, Raylee, Coleman who were supposed to help out along the DL. The year before that it was Gardener, the year before that Washington, Kavika Pittman, Leon Lett etc etc.
I'm not ready to feel good about the DL until they actually start getting results in NFL games instead of looking good during practices.

Ugh....the lack of depth on that o-line is just flat out scary.

Interesting considering that Darrent Williams was the best player in the pre-season (IMO)

We'll be fine if there are no injuries. We're beyond a point where we can hope for someone to beat out Carlisle, so let's just hope the guys we got can stay healthy. If House hits the field as a starting OG, I'll cry.

I think it would be kinda funny if House lines up as G and eligible receiver on red zone or goaline plays and flares out to try and catch a few passes, while we use Gerrard Warren as FB and Anderson in the backfield for the play action!

I like this plan...lets do it. Check this out...we bring in House as a tackle eligible, put in Big Money at FB, insert BVP at QB and Dayne. That would be really amusing. We could blow them out of the water. You get them thinking about all that funky stuff and just have BVP QB sneak right up the middle.

Rotation for week one, week two start Brown with 60% of the snaps and ease him up to 75% by week 6 for the rest of the season.

Ekuban will likely end up the starter, for now. Engelberger is a liability against the run, so we'll see him chasing QBs around on passing downs. Brown will rotate in and will probably be given a chance to start if he shows enough in the first couple of games.
All speculation, of course.

i think they do have better personnel throughout the d-line, even if courtney brown sits out this year for whatever injury he's gonna have. the key to this defense being average vs good is warren. if he plays better this year, we'll have a great year. ekuban and engelberger will not replace pryce if his back flares up, but they are sufficient backups.
to maintain winning streak, we need to have good backups. injuries are going to happen. overall this year's second team looks much better to me than previous years, especially on defense, except the safety position. we'll see how it plays out.

I don't like all the TE's and cutting all those DL. The rest I don't have a problem with, we are thin at OL as well.
I think we are going to run alot of 2 TE this year. 5 wide is stupid. We can run 3 wide, but we have WR's at TE that can protect or go out into a pattern.

Yeah we have a bunch of receivers (6 with Terrell) and tight ends (5 with Leach) and yet we don't run that many wild formations. I mean, our #3 WR is usually in the 30 catch range. Strange....

You points are well made and for the most part I agree. Nonetheless, its all on paper at this point. Until the depth translates into wins, its just another preseason story.
Shanny is famous for talking about the depth of the team in the preseason. And we are deep. Look at the freakn' guys we cut! But, there is deep and then there is deep. Let's say that Smith, Lepsis, Nalen, Al, or Pryce goes down. Could we still compete at a high-level? While most of those positions are "rotational" in nature (as opposed to something like QB), it would still be a huge drop from any one of those guys to the player behind him. Could we withstand it? Time will tell.
