I thought Darrent Williams was brought in to do some kick returning duties. I can't remember him doing it since pre-season game one. Adams seems to be kicking ass at the job. Anybody got the background info on this? Is Williams now strictly a starting CB and ST filler? Has Walls fallen back on the depth chart? Are the Bronco starting CBs going to be Champ and D-Dub? ???

No he's been doing it since yesterday with the first team returners. I took it as them only going with back-ups yesterday to include special teams... I think thats why Ernster and Adams both got so many looks.

Moral of my last long, boring post: I think DW is still our starting return man.

I didn't watch the AZ game, however, it seems like Charlie is the more physical player, contributing also on ST's.

Adams is adept at the punt return, enough that it would provide less wear and tear on Darrent Williams if he assumes the nickle-role.

IMO Darrent Williams should be starting, or atleast work him into the starting position.

He has more skills than anyone of our defensive backs (not including Champ). I say by week 3 or 4 he should be starting. If he's not, It means Lenny Walls is playing good and Darrent Williams still needs NFL PT, Although i think He's ready.

Every time Darrent Williams is on Special Teams, There is a defender in his face or it's deep into the endzone.

Maybe my memory is going sour, but it seems to me that Charlie was doing the job against the Niners too.

Adams had a pretty fumble on a return last night. I could've sworn he was going to get cut for it, but he didnt.

Might be true, I was at a concert for that game. In the Colts game he was returning kicks for sure though

Charlie Adams made this team by his physical play on special teams punt and kickoff coverage and returning punts, IMO.

Lucky kid.

I think Shanahan would like to protect his new playmaker #27, by having someone else return punts.

Just a thought.

I think it has more to do with Shanny being mildly paranoid about our STs. If we can get above average ST play and excel in turn-overs, with the talent on our team there will be no stopping.

It's a matter of putting D-Will in a position for success and getting him in the right match ups. Right now Walls provides better NFL matchup problems in favor of the Broncos.

Shanahan said in his press conference that he's not going to reveal who the return guy is until the day of the Miami game.
