let me tell you guys, I've been watching the game...I've had 5 beers, and Watts will be worth Watching this year. I think he'll move back up the roster. Rice looks slow. I don't know if BVP overthrew Rice or Rice just underran BVP. Jackson looks good and should improve. The interior O-line looked just okay, the tackles were being overrun, but a couple nice runs by BVP and the defense sat a little further back and started playing more laterally instead upfield. I'm still worried about O-line depth, but our 2nd string offense gave their 1st defense a lot to think about. A nice encouraging sign.
Anyway OC out.

Anytime your 2nd teamers can come in and compete with someone else's 2nd teamers you have to be happy! It's also good to see what Dayne and Tatum can do against first string talent. We're sitting pretty at RB this year!

1st half impressions:
Up:
Watts! caught everything that was catcheable.
Adams. running hard on returns.
BVP was erratic at the start, seemed to get himself under control. Two nice throws on the TD's
Wattonmade a nice pickup on the blitzes. Overall the whole O-line was good.
All the receivers that played except Rice made plays.
Bell and Dayne. we have a stable!
2nd string O-line was competitve with AZ's 1st string.
down:

I didn't see Putzier on any play, and he was announced with the rest of the starting lineup.
Devoe - hasn't looked great, however he's blocked the heck out of a couple people on some of the longer runs.
Triandos Luke - only saw him in for a play, however, Antrel Rolle played about 8 yards of him, and he caught the only ball passed his way. In fact, counting last year, I haven't seen him miss a single ball thrown his way in game time.
Charlie Adams - he'll be on this team, its up to the other two to show why they should make it as well.
Monsato Pope - I think he makes the team, he tipped a pass, caught arrington in a TFL, and generally looks disruptive.
Palepoi - has looked good of what I've seen of him. He made a great play when he released the OT and came back and made a tackle on a WR when the LB'er (chukwurah??) overplayed him.
BTW...can anyone explain why Coleman (Defensive Lineman) was covering a TE??...result 29 yard pass play...what the FFFF

BVP floats a lot of balls, it seems.
Though it's the B-C team, they look good. I just wanted them to come out looking somewhat competitive tonight and I haven't been disappointed. They're putting up a fight-which is more than I can say for some of the other scrubs around the league that are playing tonight. Ahem - Indy, I'm looking your way. Though it's a meaningless preseason game and most don't care because it's the JV squad, a lot of these guys may be called upon at some point in the season. One of these guys will need to make a name this season due to an untimely injury among the starters.
RB depth is clearer now. Anderson, Bell, Dayne. And I, for one, am quite pleased with that lineup.
Watts may have peeked ahead of Rice after tonight's performance. It's as though Shanahan wanted to test Darius tonight, to see if it was all still in his head. He's pulled through so far and looks like he belongs out there and, more importantly, can be called on.
Back to the 2nd half. Balls.

Well, I respect the hell out of Q. He stepped up in a pinch as a rookie against Indy for Portis. Played pretty damn good until he got hurt last year sans a very costly fumble. AND worked his ass off from an ankle injury and a torn ACL.
Plus Shanny seems to love him and has said time and again that they need depth at that postion. There is now an extra spot that was up in the air... Ernster is gone.

I'm really starting to like the look of the BVP bandwagon. The guy had some good runs early with the option type play and the one where he busted through several tackles for a first down. Although some of early passes were off the mark, he definitely has reset the crosshairs and is throwing strikes.
And he really does look like Forsberg's twin.

Well, I should restate. I definitely respect Q for all the reasons you stated, plus some. Still, he has a hard time hanging onto the rock and I'm just not big on his style of running at all. I'm more of a TD guy than a Barry Sanders guy. Too much dancing from a RB makes me cringe.
