We all know things can get heated on this forum but lately, I have seen more unacceptable and racist language, threatening stances and gestures, and overtones of the worst type that have been used on this forum in the past few weeks that have become entirely unacceptable, even for a loosely moderated forum.

Please, if you cannot control yourself here, maybe its time to move on to another forum. One way or another, these types of posts will cease or we will take steps to remedy this problem.

Politics... and religion... are topics that people feel very strongly about and consequently passions can become heated when opinions contrary to one's own are expressed. Most of this forum's posters are pretty firmly entrenched in their political ideology and it's not all that likely that an argument from the other side of the aisle is going to have the power to result in a "conversion". When all is said and done, however, I think we all have the same goals in mind (the best interests of our great country and its people), we just don't always agree on the means to that end. Still, that doesn't mean that someone with a different opinion is not deserving of the respect that would probably be shown if the discussion were to take place in person. If we all keep that in mind before clicking on "submit reply", I really think this forum could be much more civil and decorous.

Here's a better idea LABF and everybody else: stop insulting each other. Just because one person is a Republican, Democrat, Christian, non-Christian does not make them any less of a person and shouldn't be subjected to personnal attacks because of that. We all know things can get heated on this forum but lately, I have seen more unacceptable and racist language, threatening stances and gestures, and overtones of the worst type that have been used on this forum in the past few weeks that have become entirely unacceptable, even for a loosely moderated forum.

Please, if you cannot control yourself here, maybe its time to move on to another forum. One way or another, these types of posts will cease or we will take steps to remedy this problem.

Every once in awhile, I read something that's so optimistic and well-meaning in it's nature and yet so utterly futile in concept that I just can't help but to smile a bit at it.

Good luck....that's about all I can say.

Shutting down any forum would be counter-productive in my mind. Its just the petty mudslinging by way of language, and racist and threatening posts that have made this place so frustrating. I would hope that we could act more civilized to each other, even if we are divided by our politics. After all, we dont live in a utopia society where there is no friction, but that wouldnt mean that if someone threatened you in real life that you wouldnt take it seriously right? This is why rarely post in this forum. Someone posts their thoughts, opinions or beliefs and are immediatly categorized, labelled and lumped in with one side or the other. You're then, willingly or not, a part of the us vs. them war that goes on here every single day.

There's no real discussion or debate, people just dismiss and discredit the opinions of anyone not "on their side." Threads deteriorate into personal attack zones (see the Cindy Sheehan thread for a prime example) and no matter how interesting the topic once was, the thread is dragged through the muck until it's practically unreadable. I can't remember the last time there was an interesting conversation that didn't erode into another mud-slinging contest.

Nuggets4 has it right, if you despise someone to the point that you simply can't read what they post without feeling compelled to take a shot at them, put them on ignore. There are some truly intelligent and articulate individuals around here who make this forum interesting and informative. Focus on them and not the people you have irreconcilable differences with and the forum will be much better off for it.

I know, I'm new here, and I read the disclaimer on the political forum. I have been slinging it with all the libs, and don't take offense to 99.9% of posts. However, when someone calls you a hitler youth; effectively comparing you to the foulest creep to ever live, would you stand for it? So you can blame me if you want, but you can also thank LABF too.
I joined here to check out the site and because broncosfreak is a little strict on political threads, because they get out of hand. But after hanging in this forum for awhile, I can see why they moderate so tough.
Nobody is going to change anyone's minds in here. It is just a partisan hackfest full of insults and spin. It is a political barroom brawl complete with chairs over the back and flying liquor bottles.
I personally have had enough; if I want serious political discussion I'll stick to those where civility and objectivity are present.

I have tried this area of the site recently and have found it to be unneccesarily brutal and one-sided. I had hoped for legit discussion but got spam and hate speech from several posters. The timbre of the forum is very harsh and unrelenting.

I would love to talk about important issues, but that does not seem to happen here. There is a recurring pattern that I think is obvious to anyone that reads here. Inflammatory speech is the mode of communication.

We all have made our mistakes and oversights, but it's time to move on. Either be civil or go somewhere else. This isnt the ESPN board.

I think that there is some information that you missed in my previous post.

You know, I took you off of ignore to see if you would communicate with people without insults and spun propaganda on this thread. I had hoped that it would have been the case after seemingly been singled out as one of the major causes of tension on this board. I am dissappointed that you blamed everyone else and continued the same behavior in the face of impending punishment from the mods that would affect us all. Please tone it down some so that we can have some decent discussion on this board without having to take imaginary sides in a political war on a message board political forum. I hope that me saying this is nothing new, but you have to have figured out by now that when people complain of the massive unproductive spam sessions on this board that they refer to your posts.

I know, I'm new here, and I read the disclaimer on the political forum. I have been slinging it with all the libs, and don't take offense to 99.9% of posts. However, when someone calls you a hitler youth; effectively comparing you to the foulest creep to ever live, would you stand for it? So you can blame me if you want, but you can also thank LABF too.
I joined here to check out the site and because broncosfreak is a little strict on political threads, because they get out of hand. But after hanging in this forum for awhile, I can see why they moderate so tough.
Nobody is going to change anyone's minds in here. It is just a partisan hackfest full of insults and spin. It is a political barroom brawl complete with chairs over the back and flying liquor bottles.
