But Norv Turner is still their head coach and Chiefs fans know how well keeping the same players and changing the scheme works for fixing a defense.

Yes. They are a real threat. I have been impressed by their first stringers this preseason. Young but very talented line with Gallery, Grove and Walker. Skill positions are very strong. Collins has looked really good so far. Defense still quite problematic on each of the three levels but not as awful as people think. LBs are gonna really struggle though. Overall, it is a team to be reckoned with.

As I expanded on my point above, their offense will cause great problems even for good defensive teams like us. And if they play more 4-3 this year and reorganize their parts a little better rather than forcing guys like Brayton to be a LB, the defense wont be god awful. It will be still be below average to be certain but not dead last or anything. Maybe around the early 20s.

Wrong again. The Chiefs were in every game. In some cases the defense kept the offense in the game.

We were inconsistent, and lacking a runningback. We infused a decent amount of youth into the lineup last year and cut ties with just about every member of the Super Bowl team so some inconsistency was to be expected.
Moving back to a base 4-3 and ditching No Play Ray Buchanon were two of the best moves this team could have made.

All we have to do is blitz Kerry Collins anyway.

Bob just because a team gave up few passing yards does not mean that it has a great secondary.
There are many inferences that can be drawn from this fact.
a. They have a really good pass rush.
b. Their LBs are good in pass coverage and shut down alot of the TE and RB passes and WR routes that are run in their zones.
c. They are really weak against the run and thats what teams did to them instead (This was Bill's alternate inference).
Dont just assume there is only one inference you can get from a fact.

A. The Dolphins had fewer sacks than the Chiefs
B. Can you name any Dolphin LB that strikes you as "good in pass coverage?"
C. I don't think the Dolphins were THAT weak against the run. They gave up alot of rushing yards because their time of possession was really low.
Really, do you have ANYTHING that proves Miami's secondary wasn't dynamite?
And like I said, yards per attempt is also a greater indicator than total yards allowed...just like yards per rush attempt. The Chiefs were ranked 12th in rush defense, but we know their run D was not that great.

Yes. How does that in any way make the pass defense anything less than stellar? The passing yards per attempt were similarly low. Look at the passing yards per attempt of the other top secondaries.
How else do you define a good secondary? Don't say interceptions, because the 2003 Chiefs had a buttload.

Well I know one thing Bob Sir Tan sucks at covering Moss
Surtain had to be given true double team help from Brock Marion . In the Fins/Vikings game in Week 16 of '02, Marion was lined up about 7 yards from Surtain pre-snap, as the 2 formed a tight bracket around Moss wherever he went (of course this coverage scheme was dictated after Moss easily blew by Surtain early in the game - despite Surtain being lined up in man-off about 10 to 12 yards off the LOS).
And by the way, it was no small issue that Marion was tied up on almost every play double-teaming Moss because on numerous 3rd and short yardage situations, the Vikings ran the ball for the needed yardage to maintain possession --- and this was a big reason why they pulled off an upset over the Fins (who at the time were in the running for a 1st rd playoff bye - but as we all know ended up losing again the following week which eliminated them from playoff contention).

Do you want to know why I'm a Denver Broncos fan? I grew up in Buffalo New York...and yes, this directly relates to this topic.

So, I picked up some cheesy Raiders gear, one of those cute throw over STARTER jackets that were popular back in the early 90's or late 80's...and my pops scored tickets to the Bills/Raiders playoff game, back in 1990?-1991? Half of Oaklands problems stemmed from 3rd down and No Play Ray's struggles at free safety. Schweigerts play thus far is a huge upgrade to anything Buchanon did..
We have a decent DT rotation going on where Ted and Sapp won't be playing so many snaps.
P Burnt played horribly, if Asomogha is terrible it's a wash. If he's steady and unspectacular it's an upgrade. Being a safety in college he at least attempts to defend the run. I saw PBuc whiff badly on a long td run in the Hou Dallas game.

Precisely why I'm going to San Diego for an away game rather than 90 miles to my northwest. Bills fans are animals, especially if they're anywhere near contention for anything.
I have never been to the Ralph without having some drunken fools feeling it's their duty to get into the face and try to start crap with me. Anyone who has met me here can tell you I'm no "smack warrior" at these things so other than wearing my team's garb, I do nothing to provoke them. After 1990, I vowed never to return, no matter what......and I haven't.
Strange thing about Buffalo is if I go to a Sabres game in full Flyers regalia, nothing is ever said to me and I'm treated fairly well. Going to shows in the clubs/bars there, same thing...never encountered a problem at all. They just freak out @ Bills games and go on the warpath for some reason.
To those going to the game there in December....be careful and stay safe. That's the best advice I can give you and the best I can hope for you.

Although we will be a strong team this season we would be wise to have a healthy respect for every team we play, doubly so for a division rival.
Healthy respect, yes. Fear, no! After the last several seasons I wouldn't take Bear Creek High lightly, let alone any one of the other 31 NFL teams. But, somehow, the team seems to do so at least once or twice each year!

Depends on what you mean by "scared". If I had to beat them in one game, then yeah I'd be worried. They are the type of team that could win on any given week with their offense. However, I don't see them as being a division winning type threat.

Buffalo is a madhouse. It can easily be one of the most hostile crowds going. My friend got a beer thrown on him for wearing a jets jersey in Ralph Wilson.

The chiefs barely squeaked by the raiders last year. Has KC's shiny new toys on D offset Norvie's shiny new O toys? From the outside looking in, it doesn't appear so.

W 31 - 30 12/25/04 Oakland Raiders 4:00 PM CBS+
L 17 - 24 01/02/05 at San Diego Chargers 3:15 PM CBS
What? Why doesn't it "appear" so?
They add Moss. We add a corner and safety to handle him.
They add a RB. We add two linebackers.
How are those moves not compensating?

I have sported other teams jerseys in there and I definitely will during the denver game. The denver game is dec 15 so if anybody wants to start with me thats fine because it is a night game in dec and I will have at least 10 layers of armor/clothing. BUt the diehard fans will be especially pumped for this prime time game not to mention it is late in the season and the game will probably mean something for both teams.

I've seen an entire section get on a little kid in Steelers garb...complete with thrown drinks and a section-wide Azzhole chant. Oh, I suppose they had to "represent" or some crap ::), whatta classless bunch they are.
Security was non-existant for this (as usual unless an actual fist fight breaks out). Yup, it's a real fun place.

No...We already went over this with Raiders Rock last week. Nobody here fears the Raiders. Only fear around here is RR fearing the Broncos.
Eat sh!t and die fatboy, your obsession with me is disturbing
