This guy did not follow any thing about Denvers PS. BVP has been a surprise & we all knew DK was gone around Monday. The fact that he choose not to lead with the Bears was a joke, it was the whole reason I opened the page...

Baltimore Ravens
Starter: Kyle Boller
Backups: Anthony Wright, Derek Anderson, Darian Durant
Grade: D
Comment: Boller's got a lot to prove ... again. Luckily, there's no threat of anyone on the bench replacing him.
Is MAC alum Charlie Frye the second coming of Ben Roethlisberger? Probably not. (Mark Duncan / Associated Press)
Cleveland Browns
Starter: Trent Dilfer
Backups: Doug Johnson, Charlie Frye, Josh Harris
Grade: D
Comment: Two years ago, Johnson took over for the Falcons when Michael Vick went down with injury. He was absolutely dreadful, and Atlanta missed the playoffs. Frye and Harris were both tremendous college quarterbacks in the MAC. Could either be the next Ben Roethlisberger? Probably not.
Denver Broncos
Starter: Jake Plummer
Backups: Bradlee Van Pelt, Danny Kanell, Matt Mauck
Grade: F
Comment: Van Pelt and Mauck are raw and untested. Kanell's best years are behind him. Great news for Denver fans, right?
Indianapolis Colts
Starter: Peyton Manning
Backups: Jim Sorgi, Travis Brown, Tom Arth
Grade: F
Comment: Sorgi wasn't anything special at Wisconsin and has done nothing of note in any of his preseason appearances. Brown and Arth sound like a law firm, not a quarterback tandem.
Marques Tuiasosopo has barely seen actual game action. (David Paul Morris / Getty Images)
Oakland Raiders
Starter: Kerry Collins
Backups: Marques Tuiasosopo, Andrew Walter
Grade: D
Comment: In four NFL seasons, Tuisasosopo's started one game. That tells you something?
San Diego Chargers
Starter: Drew Brees
Backups: Phillip Rivers, Cleo Lemon, Craig Ochs
Grade: D
Comment: Rivers has tremendous potential and had time to learn from Doug Flutie last year. But he's just not ready. As for Lemon and Ochs — it sounds like a recipe for pie.
Seneca Wallace's preseason has raised some eyebrows. (Chris Graythen / Getty Images)
Seattle Seahawks
Starter: Matt Hasselbeck
Backups: Seneca Wallace, David Greene, Gibran Hamdan
Grade: F
Comment: Wallace has been hyped as the "The Next Michael Vick." Not quite. Rookie David Greene, an NCAA record holder at Georgia, may be the more reliable option of the two. Regardless, neither Wallace nor Greene could possibly lead a team to the playoffs.
San Francisco 49ers
Starter: Tim Rattay
Backups: Alex Smith, Ken Dorsey
Grade: F
Comment: Next.
New York Giants
Starter: Eli Manning
Backups: Tim Hasselbeck, Jesse Palmer, Jared Lorenzen
Grade: F
Comment: One's wife is on The View, another was The Bachelor and the last one belongs on Celebrity Fit Club. All three are terrible. Sign Tim Couch … now!
Dallas Cowboys
Starter: Drew Bledsoe
Backups: Drew Henson, Tony Romo
Grade: F
Comment: Henson's had a rough time since coming to Dallas last year, and rumors leaking out of Dallas say that Romo's jumped him on the depth chart. Let's put it this way — Bledsoe better not get hurt.
Editor's note: We're not even going to mention the Bears.

I'm not as sold on BVP as some here ( I really didn't like him in college or the team he played for, so im sure that figures in ) but i do see some positives in the fact that he is of a very similar style to Jake.
If Jake goes down ..... we really don't need to change anything.
If Kannell were going in, we'd have to convert to more of a drop back passing attack and lose all of the rollout/bootleg stuff that Jake brings to the table.
I'm more comfortable with BVP as a backup than i have been with anyone since Gus.

Um, they're back up quarterbacks. Jim Sorgi has played ok in the preseason. If Peyton's gone, their team will crash, obviously, but he isn't horrible.
He's right aobut Van Pelt, though. He has a ways to go, but a few more years in our system will polish him up well.

that's about right...IMO, there are barely five elite starting QBs as it is...

How many teams would grade higher than a C with their backups. These guys are backups for a reason. Some just never made it as a starter, and others are young and being developed. Any team that doesn't have much of a dropoff between the starter and backup probably doesn't have a good starting QB.
This is a useless story. Is the a new guy or something, who they just gave a BS story to? Does this story tell us anything about this up and coming season?

I didn't like the fact that this was all old news & he didn't care so I got pissed & sent him the following email:
Regarding the Foxsports story: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/4820654
#1 you missed the boat by not talking about the Bears & giving it to Jerry Angelo for not having a capable backup in place for Rex Brokeman.
#2 Did you do any research or watch any tape of these guys? I admit I am a Bronco fan but BVP has moved from #4 to #2 & during Training camp he was pushing Plummer. Sounds from all reports that BVP added energy & made it known that he wants to start someday. BVP has had a solid PS & has been a leader so far. I agree he & Mauck are unproven but to give them an F based on last year is plain stupid.
BTW not sure if you have internet access but Denver Post said Kannell was going to be out of a job on Sunday.
#3 What about mentioning the Chief’s? Collins & Huard are both out they had to sign The Mighty Johanthan Quinn in order to have a backup to play last week & now it appears that TrINT Green is hurting. Everyone at FOX & ESPN loves the East Coast & the Chefs I am sure you give them a A+.
How current was this article? Did you write it at conclusion of last year? I give this article an F-

Where are the Packers on this list? At least most of these guys have a #2 that have at least been in the leage for a year.

I saw that article and refrained from posting it because it really lacked "something".
I guess you could say that every team has either overaged or untested backups. That's why they're backups!

Even Bob will admit that Quinn sucks. At least BVP still has upside. I don't suppose this idiot saw him scamper for 40 and I think 18. If he can keep improving his accuracy, he's got the toughness of a young Favre.
Look at the source..Fox Sportsnet. I can't believe you even go there. It's like scraping the bottom of the barrel with SI.

Please, Denver absolutely deserves an F for their backups. They've got 2 7th round picks who have exactly 0 NFL snaps between them.

Collins is a very solid backup and will be back for the second game, if not the first. Huard and Quinn aren't that great, but they both have starting NFL experience. Killian will be placed on our practice squad.

I have no problem with the rating Denver a F. I mean what has BVP ever done in this league?? It's going to be a scary situation if Plummer goes down for an extended time.

Not that I like BVP, Mauck or Danny K much, but when Bledsoe went down, what exactly had Tom Brady done in the league?

I agree. I would have had the Pats rated as an "F" too. A very young low round draft pick at backup QB is usually not a good thing. Brady was an extrodinary exception. Notice though he really wasn't a backup. He should have been the starter. Even the Pats coaches didn't know how good he was.

And throw Rothlisberger in that group too as another exception. Though he was a high pick, no one expected him to do what he did in the first year.
The bottom line is its tough to know what you have if the player doesn’t have a track record. You just have to trust the coaching staff and their judgement.
Regarding the quality of this piece, remember there’s a reason the guy who wrote it is not working personal for any of the teams in the league. So who really knows what teams are sitting on an Akili Smith or a Tom Brady ???

The funniest thing here is that Anthony Wright has outplayed Boller this summer. No surprise there. Even though Wright is little more than backup material, he's still better than Boller.

We should be able to take down these thugs & end our streak against them this year no matter who is QB. I am looking forward to 12/11
Just wanted to bump this thread after tonights performance from BVP. Eat my shorts, yo expert
