The Broncos passed on Steven Jackson, Kevin Jones, and Julius Jones for Tatum Bell. Would you have done the same?

We didnt have a shot at Stephan Jackson or Kevin Jones un less you are implying that we should have not takin DJ. I still think Bell is a better fit for us than Jones.

I still would. I'm not giving up on him. He can be very succesful in this system. MA wont be around forever. Hell the season hasn't even started yet. TB could still get his chances this year.

Did the Cowboys draft Jones in the 1st round? I remember them trading the pick to the Bills?

Who else does Dallas have at RB? Bell showed he can run in this league as is evident by his 5.3 ypc...it is the little things he needs to polish like blocking and catching.

I don't know, but can you imagine Steven Jackon's size and speed in the Broncos system? :o

Yeah, but is Bell an every down back? I think MA gives Shanahan that option.

Ditto!!!

Hindsight being 20/20 wouldn't it have made sense to give up a couple picks to move up and grab Kevin Jones. I think it cost the Lions a pair of 2nd rounders to move up... I would have given up both 2nd rounders and taken my chances on Watts being there in the 3rd.

I think if Bell was in Dallas he would be outperforming JJ. MA earned the spot, Bell can either challenge himself to get better at blocking or not, but he has the talent to play.

Sorry. I mean, when did the Cowboys select Julius Jones?

I disagree. Dallas is okay when it comes to run blocking, but the yards are coming from Jones' physical ability to run between the tackles as well as his eye vision. Julius has Emmit Smith-like vision. I don't see the eye-vision or power from Bell.

Ok so we disagree, Bell's ability to run with the ball has never been a problem both inside and out.

I admit he exactly doesnt have TD vision, but he has power and explosiveness.

i was screaming for JJ on the draft day. but i won't compare him to emmit. having said that, bell hasn't gotten enough chance with his injury last year. with m anderson playing so well, we may not see bell play much this year either.

Unfortunately, yes. However, I was impressed with MA. He does run with power and amazingly, he looks faster than he did before the season-ending injury of last year.

Julius jones was drafted 2 picks after tatum. Personally I thought Jones' all around abilities suited us better than bell, but bell is more of the big play threat and Shanahan probably saw a bit of portis in him.

I believe Julius Jones was drafted a few spots after we took Bell. So yeah, we could of had DJ and JJ.

You are an idiot. Did you watch him in College? OSU didnt exactly have a dominating Oline moron, he had vision enough to grab Shanny's eye.

That's what I was getting at. I think Shanahan had Julius Jones above Tatum Bell too, but he probably was so focused on drafting a "homerun" threat in the backfield.

You really have to look at next year, is MA going to be on the team? or if he has a great year is he worth something decent to another team. And is that where Bell steps in,maybe shanny is looking ahead?

If I was going to change anything I wouldn't have drafted a back and waited till next year to draft Bush. I'm happy with Bell though.

in 2004, i wanted us to draft will smith over dj williams. will smith was drafted a pick after dj. as good as dj is i think will smith could have been a good fit for us, especially with ian back. i also wanted us to pick j. jones over t. bell. the verdict is still out on bell, because he had injury problem and really did not get enough carries so far this year with mike being #1.

Tatum hasn't been able to see the field since the Marine came back and took the top job. It's too early to tell whether Bell will pan out. He hasn't had the reps to be classified as a bust or boom. I trust Shanahan's judgement in regards to drafting RBs.

A strong argument can be made that if either Julius Jones or Stephen Jackson were on the Broncos right now, they'd be backing up MA. Let's give Bell a little time to see if he develops, which I thinlk he will.

Hey, stupid, Jackson and K Jones were off the board for hours before the Broncos pick @ 41 came up.

You've completely lost your edge as a troll, Waffle. You didn't actually find a girlfriend in college, did you? That will wreck your game, even if it clears up your complexion.

At the time of the draft I fully expected them to draft Steven Jackson. I was shocked that they didn't. Now I'm very happy with DJ, and I think Bell has the tools to be very effective. Bell appears faster/quicker to me than Portis. He also appears to have the body frame to add quality weight while retaining his speed/quickness. As long as Anderson plays like he did against the Colts for the rest of the season I'm happy with what we have. Give Bell time to add mass and continue to learn. He'll shine.
