ADVANTAGE POINTS

-The Bronco's forced turnover ratio has shown steady increase from last year and the team's own turnovers have taken a dip; turnovers were a major part of the Bronco's failures in the previous season
-The special teams showed excellent progress after two not-so-great outings, forcing turnovers on kickoffs and punts (including a tip); the Broncos seem to have stopped their unstable punting unit with the addition of P Todd Sauerbrun
-Mike Anderson was the rushing star of the game, limiting Tatum Bell's carries and likewise increasing his chances of locking the top spot on the Bronco RB depth chart
-The Bronco's defensive line transactional efforts in the offseason seemed to have paid off in this preseason game, amounting to a total of 6 sacks for 38 yards, one of which was accounted to rookie CB Darrent Williams and 3 others by DL John Engelberger
-The Broncos were able to control the field position game

DISADVANTAGE POINTS

-Todd Sauerbrun was unable to get hangtime on his kickoffs, consequently amounting to high kickoff return totals for the Colts; the special teams unit could not get their coverage in order before the returns began
-Other than Ashley Lelie outstanding effort, no other receivers really stood out
-Starters Lenny Walls (knee) and Champ Bailey (hamstring) remain slightly injured
-The Broncos had too many penalties (8) resulting in too many yards (86)
-The Broncos had too many missed conversions, resulting in significantly less time of possession than their opponent

GAME NOTES

-Jim Sorgi went 10-for-18 for 99 yards with a TD and an interception in relief of Manning.
-After committing 12 penalties for 89 yards against Chicago last week, the Colts only had four for 35 against Denver.
-Walls left with a bruised knee.
-Broncos tailback Quentin Griffin saw his first action of the preseason and had nine carries for 33 yards.
-Broncos DL John Engelberger had three sacks.

And we won despite of that.

I remember us losing games that we dominated majority of the stats expect the scoreboard

1-5 Red zone eff. 20%

Not good at all. Penalties were bad also, but most were on PI by our rookies.

Looking at that makes me think Denver really needs some work. Maybe the starters should play some in the final game. I know they won't, but it looks like they need to work.

Redzone sucked,,,and 3rd downs sucked. Major problem...inability of defense to read the offense in the second quarter,

Yup. Just what I was thinking. Just looking at the stats you would think we lost, but we won anyways. And on other days when it looks like we won (eg. vs. Atlanta, Plummer's 600+ yards) we lost.

Games like this are going to happen during the regular season we just have to out score the opponent like we did saturday night,i hate the numbers as much as all you but what's important is the W in the end.Going into fin land for the first game will certainly help get the production we all need to see from our offense.

True..it was Peyton Manning...he might be a bitch...but he doesn't suck.

Shows the importance of field position and turnovers. Those are some kinda ugly stats. With the MA run and the Lelie bomb, I knew we didn't own time of possesion, but I watched the game, and I thought we semi-dominated the game. We made some big plays.

Two things that concern me...a lot; 1 for 5 in red zone conversions & 8 penalties.

Same nemesis that kept the Broncos from blowing out some teams (Tampa Bay, Carolina, Miami) & killed us in close games Denver should NOT have lost (Jacksonville, Oakland & San Diego)

preseason. they won. held the offense that embarassed them in indi to 17 points. they did this despite having little offensive production of their own. broncos will be ok.

Yeah, the stats reflect exactly how the game played out. We took advantage of them on two big plays and right after a TO but couldn't really sustain drives. If we had been able to sustain drives we would have blown them right out of the water. As it was we merely won. Boo hoo.

3 TDs came outside of the redzone so not really a bad thing to see the stats. Throw out the 2nd Qrt and....nevermind that brings back some painful SB memories :(

"Manning could have exited this game with four first-half TDs. Wayne fumbled away what would have been a 48-yard score in the first quarter after a 44-yard reception -- the ball bounded out of the end zone for a Denver touchback -- and tight end Dallas Clark was unable to make a diving grab of a Manning pass in the end zone in the second quarter" blah blah blah blah blah COULD being the important word in that sentence
