....it seems Coyer found it and used several of the rush two or three defensive plays from it. When Indy started to get on a role it appeared that we started to rush only three and sometimes only two players and then play zone behind it. With that amount of time Manning is going to pick it apart (see Lynch getting burned by Wayne).

Heh, what was really cool is that we still got pressure with a 2 man rush.

Sometimes and then other times he had enough time to smoke a joint and recover from it.

Im not worried about 2 and 3 man rushes this year.

Just something else the opponets have to game plan for.

I'd rather he experiment with situational formations now than in 2 weeks. This is probably the first game that he was allowed to add a wrinkle or 2 and he wanted to see how it works out.

Yeah something else for them to game plan for. It's called 7 on 7 when the QB sits back and has all day to throw during practice.

Coyer didn't do a whole lot last nigth Rascal. Im not worried about these 2 and 3 man pass rushes, not because I think we can get pressure with it, but because I do not see Coyer using that except on like 3rd and 20 or something during the season.
This WAS a pre-season game and from what Med said, looked to be only 5-10 different plays called defensively.

My problem with is that we are playing zone behind it. And with Lynch being less then steller against the pass that is going to open up the deep slants and other deep routes.

Shanny always shows something in the preseason that he will never use. During the Mexico City game, where Elway got hurt he ran a 4 TE set. Have we ever seen a 4 TE set in regular season ???

Except that we have run the rush two defensive schemes before and it wasn't shanny who was running the defense last night it was Coyer.

I liked that. Manning is calling all his plays at the line. By rushing two and dropping nine and mixing it up you really give Manning a lot to think about and watch. You want to show blitz Manning gices a hot read for a slant and then you drop nine right into the passing lanes hoping for an INT. You have to keep Manning on his toes and not let him get comforstable.

It doesn't matter what play Coyer calls....if they bite on the fakes and mis-direction the MAnningColts use...it's un-stoppable. It doesn't matter what defensive play is called when the whole d-line is thinking pass and they run it.

Lmfao, I remember Manning faking out the camera on a draw play.
Or was it a fake draw?
not sure actually.

Another thing too...the reason the fakes worked out for the Colts last night was because they got their running game going. They got their running game going because our defense couldn't get off their blocks....On occasion it was because they were being held...but we can't count on refs to call the game right...especially against Michael Jor...I mean Manning. Those bitches need to use better technique to shed those blockers.

I mean to comment on this earlier. It was the third or forth quarter, we dropped 9 into coverage, Dorsett Davis blew up two OLinemen and put the pressure on Sorgi. That was a sick play... Slappy called it... he keeps playing like that and he's not trade bait, he's not competition, he's nothing other than a piece of the rotation and potential starter!
Coyer hasn't showed too much, but he's shown some glimpses. The Corner Blitz from Darrent and the reports we've heard from Khan tell me what's coming. There isn't a player in our back 7 that Coyer isn't afraid to send. What makes this even better is the fact that we can easily drop any of those 7 into coverage... though Lynch is the weakest of the 7..... sad really, LB's shouldn't be better in coverage than your FS!

yea well what i think is that in the beginning of the game when we were rushing mannings ass like crazy, that was our acual defense for this year. after seeing it work out really well shannahan decided to mix it up so other teams we play during the season and if we play the colts in the playoffs this year they will look at this game film and think thats what were gonna do but have it acually be diffrent. many of the defenseive playes had d-linemen droping back into pass coverage which we so painfully saw happen in our first loss to indy in the playoffs. its a just another smoke screen though up by our little hometown mastermind

I'm with Rascal on this one. I don't ever want to see a two man rush again. I don't ever want to see G. Warren attempting to cover a RB coming out of the backfield. I don't understand this "cute" sh!t. They've supposedly got monsters and a hellofa rotation. Line up and meet in the middle. Make it hurt enough that the Colts and every other team has to keep the back(s) in to protect.
Maybe we'll see that with C. Brown back but I really, really, really don't like finesse/tricky D-line play.

Exactly TotallyScrewed. Watching Warren trying to guard a RB is just wrong on so many levels. Pryce maybe...but Warren I don't think so.

I said maybe...didn't say it would work. It might work against San Fran, but I doubt it's going to work against somebody like Manning.

I think it's not a matter if it works or not it's the fact that everytime Manning goes up to take a snap he doesn't know if Denver is rushing 4 or 5 or 6 or if they are dropping 9. So if the two man rush doesn't work on one play Denver might rush 5 on the next where Manning thinks they will be dropping everyone.
This kind of defense can only be worked on teams like Indi who give their QB so much responsibility. Everytime Manning goes up to the line he is in charge of everything. The current play called, if he wants to change the play the alignment EVerything. The more Denver can give him to think about the better. You can't let him get confortable back there because if he knows your blitzing he'll torch you. I believe his passer rating was higher last year against the blitz than it was against a regular base defense. You have to keep him off gaurd and guessing . IMO of course.

all this hand wringing over the best offense in football in preaseason seems to be a little premature.
we are missing 2 starters on D for one........
for another thing, I'm sure Coyer was just trying a few things out to see if they'd work........

Personally I think it's funny than anybody even remembers Ray what's his name. That's almost as bad as missing Greg whozits blitz packages.
Can somebody send a message to Coyer. Just write down the words "Get the ball back." I think he'll know what it means.
