Yeah, lets look at some stats. Let's look at two players pimped like ho's by ESPN talkin' heads:
Randy Moss had two catches for 46 yards, one was 40. Randy makes his one big catch per game. Lelie had 5 for 104.
Lamont Jordan? 10 rushes for 23 yards with a long of 16. This means he got 7 yards on his other 9 carries. Mike Anderson had over 150 on 13 carries.
Yes, this was week 3 preseason, where players are supposed to play into the 3rd quarter. I won't even discuss how bad the Oakland D is going to be, but even going into this weekend, Oakland was going to have a standout offense and challenge for the AFC West while Denver was totally clueless, spending billions on outdated weapon systems that couldn't possibly be effective in battle.
If noone has noticed, the conversion process from total ridicule to praise has allready started.
Simms was explaining that Denver's moves might of been the best of any team in the NFL.
Woody is now proclaiming a 14-2 season.
Even Kreiger acts like he's cut and pasted my comments and claimed them as his own.
Why aren't these clowns on Ritalin to cure their ADD? Just yesterday I was reading yet another lame ass article about how Denver's offseason was filled with reaches, and outright stupidity. We have all read the articles. I'm not guaranteing something as stupid as 14-2 like Woody, who seems to have come down from Sinai yet again to deliver his kiss of death.
Denver isn't a dominant team, and until we can gauge the season and possible injuries, it's impossible to make predictions above probabilities. Tatum Bell hasn't looked very good, and Watts continues to look uncomfortable. I still am leery of Anderson as a #1 but with Bell looking rather anemic, that's about all we have. Bell is reminding me more and more of Trung Candidate all the time. Watts, like Tai Streets.
Funny thing tho, neither were hammered by the press whatsoever. Just our FA moves and Clarett, and the CB's were all considered reaches. Now when I saw how small Darrent Williams was, I freaked, but I'm totally past that, especially as a #3 against smaller slot recievers. He hasn't shown alot as a returner yet, but I have no doubt he will. The weird thing is he seems to be making the jump to NFL corner faster than NFL return man. As Martha might say, "It's a good thing...".

Geez there's an insightful post. Care to elaborate on his "FOOTBALL" take?
See what I don't understand is why alot people around here are caught up in what the media has to say. You think they should all bow down to the Broncos when we keep getting torched in the first round and spent years being "led" around the field with Grieseball? :injured:
I think this team has a great chance to prove all these critics wrong. Everything was not perfect in BRONCOS COUNTRY towards the end of Elway's career. Alot of these "experts" hinted he should hang it up and that he doesn't have what it takes to win the big one. John didn't listen to them then and this team isn't going to listen to them now.
To all those media people who read our posts on here I'd suggest you jump on the bandwagon now because ALL OF US HERE are going to be calling you out when you start kissing the Broncos asses later this season.
I want to make this final point. THE ORANGEMANE is a media outlet. We the members of Orangemane spend thousands of hours a week analyzing the Broncos. You think one jackass who runs his mouth about the Broncos who made it to camp one day is some authority on Broncos football? Hell alot of the "Media" guys don't even get out from under their tents at camp. Makes me wonder how they can even comment on camp at all when they can't see the freakin field. BTW...I think Kaylore has finally recovered from his massive sunburn he got from covering Broncos camp. I noticed he's gone back to his natural white skin tone instead of lobster red. :notworthy
****. I live in Denver and I don't even look to our local media for Broncos news. Sure I read the articles, watch the news etc but to be honest everything I usually hear is old news! That is NO BS.
Infact where do you think the news in Denver get's alot of their ideas/takes/tips etc. That's right. They get them here.
We'll know what this team is made of fairly early in the season I don't need ESPN to tell me.
I am by no means suggesting we don't have plenty a people talking smak like the media but with almost 4,000 members around here somebody has to know what they are talking about which means the OrangeMane has all the right answers. ;D

Darius has been disappointing... I'll grant you all that. But biggest disappointment..... not hardly! Tatum Bell not showing the good is disappointing. Courtdawg going down early in camp is disappointing. Watching John Lynch in coverage vs Reggie Wayne is DISAPPOINTING! The most disappointing thing so far... knowing that I have to listen to Mock talk about his 80% locks and how national writers "steal" his posts for their gain.......ALL SEASON LONG! That's what I call disappointing!

We don't have time to wait for Watts. He needs to step up and play this year. Our WR depth is horrible. When you have a 42 year old as your #3, who has two catches in the pre-season, then you have some issues. Watts needs to step up now.

Why exactly do you think Jerry Rice only has two catches in the preseason? Do you think maybe he's already proven himself to the point of the coaches feeling confident in him. I mean, I doubt he's forgot how to run a route, catch the ball, or score a TD. He has nothing to prove! If Rod Smith didn't have a catch all preseason would you worry about him?
Darrius Watts needs the 3 year plan and he will get it. He'll get better and better as the season rolls on. People are tougher on him already than what he deserves.

Uh...Practice??? If you're not getting the job done in practice you're not getting the chances.
I think the final preseason game is for Bell and Dayne to duke it out for the #2/3. As for Bell not getting the carries last night?. I don't know what to tell you, other than he must not be getting it done in practice.

Do you really consider last nights ball a drop?
Seriously, he was bent over, or on a knee and he trapped the ball against the ground. It's a 4 yard toss for crying out loud. If the QB can't get the ball to him 4 yards out, how the hell to you blame the WR? Even if he would have caught that shiatty pass, what was he going to do with it. Considering he would have had to lay down to catch it...not much!

Why is everbody wanting Bell to beat out MA. I was the biggest Bell homer at the end of last year, but I like what MA showed last night. People never talk about him as a homerun threat. His 93 yard run beat Portis's career long by almost 30 yards and Terrell Davis's by 20 yards! I know, it's preseason, so I'll post their regular season career longs.
Mike Anderson - 80 yards
Terrell Davis - 71 yards
Clinton Portis - 65 yards
MA looks like a homerun threat to me.

It's common sense and very well stated that Watts has been moved back to the #4 spot and has dropped some balls. You can spin it any way you want but the fact is he is not catching the ball like he should yet.
You say wait till his 3rd year and he'll come around. Well, he's needed this year. Do you think Shanny is sitting there and thinking well we'll give him one more year to learn how to catch the ball, we don't need him this year.
Come on man. He gets paid to catch the ball.

Based on last night's game, this defense looks the best we've had in a long, long time: mean, fast, and opportunistic. And much of that appears to come from the Brownies and rookies and Engerberger (or however you spell it). All of which is pretty exciting, given the last few years. On the other hand, our offense looks as if it is slightly thin, and a bit erratic. If shanny can keep the unit healthy, focused, and inventive, it isn't that far a reach to see us taking the division, and perhaps getting a home game. From there, who knows?
All of which to say that this team could be better than anyone, me included, had imagined. Let's hope so.

Then you doubt that Tatum is getting it done in practice? Look, the GOAT has proven over 20 years that eh can do it, but he is 42 years old and trying to make a team too. Tatum getting 1 carry last night is more than just "not getting it done" in practice. Kaylore has reported some fine things from him during camps.
That and coupled with Q getting the bulk of the mop up work last night makes me believe that Tatum AND Dayne are both solid locks as #2 and #3. Q is being shown off for trade value.
Quit knocking on my boy Tatum.

Khan also reported some pretty good things about Darrius Watts... on more than one occassion. The flip side is he had several days in a row where he said Tatum didn't do much to move ahead of MA.
Honestly, I like all three guys about the same. Maybe a little bit of favoritism for Dayne b/c he's had such a tough road, but for the most part I like em all. It wouldn't hurt my feelings to see MA start the whole year... or Tatum or Dayne! Whoever starts though, I hope that they are the starter and that's that... I don't want to see RBBC, or our starter watching over his back all year. If its Tatum then great..... I expected it to be honest!
Why wouldn't Shanny give Darius three years? He gave Rod, Shannon, and now Ash the same amount of time and they all turned into players. Like many have said already, Ash couldn't catch a pass to save his life his first couple years. To the point that many people wondered if he would ever get it... FF a few years and look at him now. If Shanny doesn't give him the time to develop I'll be pissed!

As far as the Raiders go I may have been wrong about their offensive line being a better friend to Collins than Moss. I watched about 10 minutes of their game today on the NFL Network and Collins was sacked 4 times in that period. He overthrew Moss because of pressure. Either that offensive line is bad or the Cards D is looking very, very good.

It's tough to give a roster spot to Q when, IMO, in order for him to be an impact guy, he has to be fed the ball by pass at LB depth. He CAN be an impact guy, maybe as much as 6-8 TD's/yr if he gets fed the ball where he can smoke DB's and the occasional LB. Q is an awesome open-field runner.
However, to make that impact, he has to be on the field many times where he does not get the ball, in order for the plays called for him to be effective. So it's tough to hold a roster spot for him. But handled right, Q can have quite an impact on a game and a season.

Lamont Jordan? 10 rushes for 23 yards with a long of 16. This means he got 7 yards on his other 9 carries. Mike Anderson had over 150 on 13 carries.
Coversely lets look at the Raiders starting defense allowing 2.1 yards per carry. Did any of the talking heads think that was going to happen>
IT'S FRIGGIN PREASEASON! Don't read so much into it.
