View Full Version : How important is home field for the Broncos?

Let me ask you O maners....how many playoff games have the Broncos won on the road all time? Two of them came in 1997 at Arrowhead and the next week for the AFC title at Three rivers. The only other road victory was the drive in 1986. So do we as fans have an impact on the game? I think this is your answer, would recent games in the post season at Indy or at Baltimore have been victory for the Broncos if we were at home? I know some of you are going to say that we had no shot vs the Colts the past two years however I tend to think it would have been a victory or at least a game. So how about a home playoff game this year..who's with me? Three wins on the road all time, think about it.

I would think that's pretty much the norm in the NFL. That's why you want home field advantage. I would imagine if you look at other teams, it would probably be the same. I'd be curious to know what each teams road playoff record is. I have no clue.

That's what I said when Disco and I were just Bsing about 15 minutes ago. He asked me the same question. Right off the top of my head I figured we had surely won some on the road but not really.
We can break down all the teams post season records with this link 9798. Just click on the team.

I just got down watching the history channel and it said the two most important things in life are air and homefield advantage.

With all the history of the 49'ers they are 3-9 on the road in the playoffs.
I think I counted that right.

I don't think the Broncos have nearly the home field advantage they used to. Old Mile High used to shake and roll like thunder through an old steel ship.
Does anyone here still think the advantage is as great as it used to be before the Broncos disovered their lack of revenue in sky boxes?

The fans suffer from the financial and buisness side of professional sports unfortunately.

Home field is huge, but the team that benefits the most is Indy.
The Broncos have a great home field advantage. I don't see them needing it as much as Indy does.
However, if we're talking about recent history then it's the same thing.....meaning it's important for the Broncos to get home field just to get the Colts out of that stupid dome.
I hope that makes sense. Either way, I'm going out for a beer. :)

I'll have a beer, too. Doesnt seem to matter where the hell we play, we'll get ass-pounded when it counts. This sucks. I want Johnny back!

Of course, home field advantage is huge for the Broncos. They have the best home record in the NFL since 1973. Do you think opponents like traveling to Elevation 5280 and sucking wind?

That's hard to say, I think Home Field advantage has diminished over the last few years all over the NFL. You would think that Indy and other domed teams would have more of a advantage, turf,no elements, enclosed crowd noise but no dome team has ever won the SB until the Rams did a few years ago. I think it is another thing free agency has done to the game, fans are less "rabid" players change from year to year, fan favorites are discarded in favor of more cap friendly players and rising salaries/new stadiums=higher ticket prices, so it starts to even out the crowd noise thing, Home Field advantage is dying out league wide.

We almost beat Buffalo on the road one of those times during their 4-peat.
