Chokeland loses 19-17 to Houston.

Chiefs lose 24-17 to the Cards. And Arizona was penalized 160 yards! Sounds like they had a CB with a tough game. 3 Interference calls. KC managed a couple scores off those gifts. The Cards logged 4 sacks.

Looks like Elam had company tonight. Tynes continued his erratic ways by being SHORT on a 38 yarder adn wide right on a 46 yarder.

Good thing preseason means nothing.

I watched the Chief game, I live in Missouri. Priest got stuffed when he played but Johnson had a pretty good game. Something looks awkward with TrInt Green the way he is releasing the ball. Looks like his shoulder is bothering him. The CB you were referrring to, got 3 INF calls all in the 1st 2 drives. He go toasted all night. The Chiefs offense can't complete drives.

Their back-ups were god-awful. Defense and offense. I mean, it was ugly.

I will give props to DJ Johnson, Surtain, and Knight. They are players without much of a supporting cast. Avoid Surtain and throw at McCleon. He got toasted quite a few times tonight.

Chiefs were up 10-0 at halftime. It should have been 13-0 or 16-0, but Tynes continues to suck. He missed a 38 yarder, again, but also missed a 47 yarder this time. The Chiefs' starting defense looked better then last week with the exception of McCleon. He got burned by I think Boldin for a 40+ yard TD, but it was called back due to holding by the Cards' offensive line. That was really the only bad play made by the Chiefs' defense in the first half.

With Todd Collins out the Chiefs backup QBs were something like a combined 6 for 31. The Cards' first string D-line going against the Chiefs' backup O-line had something to do with that, especially Berry going against Brett Williams, but I don't think poor blocking can really explain statistics that horrible.

Damon Huard basically gave the Cardinals 14 points in the third corner. He had one interception returned 27 yards for a TD. He another INT thrown in the Chiefs' territory that was returned to around the 20 yard line. That also resulted in a TD. He ended up going 1 for 12 with 11 passing yards and two interceptions. It was pretty horrendous.

Priest basically got shut down, but LJ came in and had 9 carries for 49 yards against their first string defense. Other then Priest doing poorly our first stringers dominated theirs so it was a good night. It would have been much nicer if our 3rd and 4th string QBs could have at least vaguely looked like they belonged in the NFL, but you can't win them all.

I concur with all of this. The new guys had a fantastic game. Macklin of the Cardinals may not have a job after the screwups he made in this game. If I were a Chefs fan, I would worry about the depth on that team. The Arizona backups were clearly superior to the Chefs backups. I know it's only preseason and it doesn't count, but it still feels good that Denver is 2-0 and KC is 0-2...

Oakland dominated Houston during the first half (17-7) when they played their regulars. The choker goes to Fatheadkowski who shanked two FG attempts badly in the second half. Those six points were the difference between a W and an L.

I was pleased to see KC's first team defense kick some butt. And it was nice to see Samie Parker grab a TD.

Actually, it was nice to READ about those things. I'll see them Monday morning on NFL Network.

And Indy got beat by the Bears to go 0-3. Yup Chicago will clearly be more succesfull this season than Indy.

I watched the game. There were some bright spots for the D. The offense still seems out of sync. Priest got manhandled after that 1st run. Outside of the drive that resulted in the only TD (2 Int Calls) the Chiefs offense didn't look all that great.

Our offense is going to be fine. I am not reading anything into preseason this year.

The D looked good but they looked good against the Rams last preseason as well.

You don't want to watch the 2nd half. You really don't. That was some of the worse football you'll ever see played.

The preseason does mean something. It means who is going to make the team and who isn't. When it's scrub time is when you want to see some hard playing. Hopefully as mistake free as possible. I know I'm pretty sensitive to, (and sick of) injuries to key players. Not seeing a dropoff the size of the Grand Canyon between the starters and the backups is something I want to see. Not expecting super stars at the second or third level, but at least adequacy.

What everyone fails to mention is that the Chiefs played without 25 guys who didn't even suit up last night. Most of whom are starters. Everyone should be available for Seattle next Saturday. Hard to make the statement that "The Chiefs offense can't complete drives." when Roaf, Shields and Sampson are taking it easy on the sidelines. What I'm most worried about is lack of playing time going into the regular season from the starters. Vermeil babies the vets waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much.

The downside of the Chargers' outburst today:

Missourians don't know how to play defense.

I don't know the faide dominated. Watched the first three drives this am. The Texans got stopped by hitting carr late out of bounds. Dunta and Phillip Buchanon look pretty shaky though. And Jokeland's oline looks awfully good. I'm not sure their d got much of a test.

Sarcasto nailed the chorfs - cards, but either DeKnee is making that team better or the chorfs suck worse than I thought they would.

I was in and out of the SD game. But it looked like Martz was playing his third string dline. Maybe it was his first, but they were playing like stiffs.

I think our depth is pretty good. Did they put Browner on IR? Is Eric Brown signed? I thought he was released again. Except for OL Depth and Safety depth, we are fine with depth. We will grab a few players on the final cutdowns, hopefully. Usually there are some kids the Broncos had an eye on that hit the street. I doubt the roster is set just yet.

Watch the game. Those weren't "gift" PI calls. Parker burned Macklin every time.

Without Todd Collins, our QBs sucked big giant balls. Especially Damon Huard. The rookie Kilian gets a break because he's a stupid rookie, and DID throw for a TD in the 4th qtr. Huard was something like 1 for 12 with 2 INTs, one of them returned for a TD. And to watch him play was painful. He overthrew a couple screens for crying out loud.

Macklin and Parker got tangled up on one of the plays that I saw and the ball was "uncatchable" IMHO. Still got the flag though.
