Meck and I have been discussing a potential campaign of sorts on this. "Invesco" shouldn't be there. We were trying to figure out how to put together a campaign to buy back the rights or even just get voters to let us keep the name.
My only problem is the new stadium isn't Mile High. There will never be another stadium like Mile High. If enough fans wanted to call it that, I'd be ok with it, but I'd prefer Broncos Stadium or something.

All I know is that when I go to games there are too many people (new) that don't get into the game. Last year I went to a game and somebody behind me told me to stop jumping up when the Broncos scored, I told them they need to go back to Coors field.

Invesco shouldn't be there, or any other corporate scumbags for that matter. They're corporate season ticket holders for a fickle crowd of white collar wankers.
It could be much worse though.
Just imagine "Monostat 7 Stadium at Mile High"...

The Broncos need to create some memories in the new stadium...playoff memories. People need memories like that to attach and endear themselves to something. There have been some pleasant regular season wins in Invesco, but a deep playoff run involving a few home games would really help. I could look out at Mile High and remember some amazing games over the years...hard to think of a lot of them in Invesco, although there have been some good ones. It does not help Invesco that Elway and Mile High will always be linked whereas Invesco is linked with Griese and Plummer for the most part.

Get a dominant O or D and the noise level will go back up. Knowing your team has red-zone issues is going to dampen the enthusiasm for the offense, and knowing that the chances of a turnover, sack, or even a consistent pass rush on defense are almost non-existant doesn't breed excitement when that unit is on the field either.
Give the fans something to cheer for. Sorry, but I don't believe in the "cheer for the sake of cheering" philosophy that some here espouse. It's on the Broncos to create the reason(s) for the fans to get loud.

This is the real problem and the embryo of Meck's crusade. There is a large group of people who don't appreciate good football. They sit there in their loafers without socks, eat their cheese and wine and maybe lightly applaud when a score occurs. When the game looks to be over they leave five minutes early and swing by a Village Inn on their way home. No passion, no love of the game and no connection to the team. Just a bunch of pansy losers with money to blow.

Just give me one Raiders game, one South Stands reunion where all the old rowdies get in free. Top it off with a dollar beer night.
I guarantee a victory and noise that will shake the cameras and scare small children. Probably lot's of fights too.....it would be great, just like the good old days. Yuppies would be so offended that they may never return if they got out alive.

No doubt. Sometimes I wonder what a few loosing seasons would do to weed out all the pansy-fans. Get the people that want to be there to make noise into the stands. That would shake things up.

They can call it Invesco, we don't have to. It's not important, or usefull to complain about the name. Fans can generate enthusiasm in other ways, like if someone built a killer fan bus and could give live fan reports from the games via the internet. That would be cool.
I just call it New Mile High and don't even worry about it. The talking heads have to use the corporate name, we don't. The Bus can't even advertise, altho I did see an orangemane.com small sign.
I think that the homefield will improve as everyone gets more comfortable with how things are now. Noone can bring back the atmosphere of the Original Mile High, but noone can bring back America pre-9/11 either and the rediculous security. It's more than the stadium IMO, it's the whole deal...it's gotten out of control. Everything is so tainted with corporate sponsors and they try to glean every dime they can from fans. I'm honestly surprised they aren't charging for parking at Dove Valley and checking you thru security, alltho I have heard Fred may be a Federal Agent.
They better find some home field advantage and stop losing to teams like Chicago and Oakland. We have home games against New England, Philly, Baltimore, and San Diego.

To say that they should be cheered for just for the sake that they're on the field is pretty weak. You also again make the assumption that just because the team was 10-6, they played good football or football that's worth the "Mile High" level that everyone wants back. I've said in the past multiple times that people are fooling themselves if they think the '99 and '00 Mile High levels are louder than what Invesco is currently at, but that's not for this thread. There is nothing on this team that causes a large level of excitement. An offense that can score at will? Nope. A defense that pressures the QB or forces turnovers? Nope. How about individual players? Anyone on the offense that brings people to their feet? Lelie doesn't touch the ball enough, Bell's unknown, Rod was never that type of player, and Jake brings just as much frustration. How about the D? Champ? 3 picks is his career high and he's never scored a TD? Al? Nope. Trev? Not since he played DT.

To steal a tired sports cliche:
"It's not the name on the back of the jersey, it's the name on the front that matters.
Well, "It's not the name of the stadium that matters, it's the people inside it."
To think that dropping the Invesco is going to make everything better is laughable at best. A lot of good points have been brought up here. I think the best one is this new generation of Broncos (minus Old Timer Rod Smith! ;) ), so to speak, need to create their own history and own memories.
I grew up with Elway, and loved him just as much as anybody here. But we need to let him go. These guys, here and now, need to write some history. We need to stop clinging to ESPN Classic showing "The Drive" or Super Bowl Highlights of Elway doing that infamous 8-yard run.

Mile High Stadium had the fans pretty close to the field. It had that old school NFL feeling to it. Even on a bad weather day it was the funnest place to be in DENVER. It still to this day is the loudest place I had ever been (Raiders games-the best).

I have read that overall, the seats are actually closer to the field and the line of sights are better. Now that's probably debateable for the nosebleeds. Yes, the stadium is much bigger, but that's alot of bigger concourses, clubs and other stuff. I have read it's steeper steps. They used steel risers, so they intended to make the place thunder. It's up to the fans now. I bet we have had the old stadium creaking with it's own voice, not just rumbling, but groaning. She WAS old. It's a fine mre stadium. I'm tired of it getting bashed. It's up to the fans to bring it alive.

Dollar admission and dollar beers might work at Coors field and get a few fans in there, if they have fireworks. You don't hear alot of anger about Coors having the naming rights of the baseball stadium. Having an ugly name Invesco, along with the classic fraudulent ripoffs so typical of investment firms, coupled again with all the crap advice where people lost their asses in 2000 doesn't make for a good stadium name.
As was mentioned, things aint going to change, they can just be improved.

Sorry Herc but you and I are going to have to agree to disagree. I grew up with the Broncos. They are like family to me. I come from a place where you root for the team because they're your team, not because you aren't getting your "value added" out of your ticket. Maybe your support of a team is conditioned on their quality of play. That's fine. Mine isn't.
I don't always agree with my team's offseason moves. I don't always like their draft picks and I don't always think that they play up to their potential. But when the Denver Broncos take the field, don't look at me to sit in my chair and sniff my nose at my team demanding "X" amount of production before I feel they've sufficiently "earned" my support. I'll cheer for and support the Denver Broncos because I love them and I love football.

The "old home field advantage" is history. That time has passed. Although quite a few of the "old timers" remain. The "New crowd" doesn't back the team win or loose. It's a fair weather stadium, in more than one way. If the Broncos are sucking it up, they ccould'nt by support, and if it's a bit too cold outside, all of the "pansies" head for the comfort of their suburbian neighborhoods.
What is most disturbing to me is the goon squad (appropriately dressed in yellow) which is charged with the task of keeping the crowd from becoming to loud (supportive of their team).
I was brought up to "raise hell for the team", but now when I attend games I get "stupid a$$" looks from "neighbors and the goons" when my wife and I are the only ones in our section making noise!
The old "Mile High Magic" went away with "Old Mile High", and although I applaud and support any effort to return that magic to the stadium, I realize that those are days which only exist in wonderful memories!

Well, the new stadium coupled with 9/11 was a double punch. I hadn't heard about the yellow jackets.
Quite honestly, I think alot of hardcore fans just don't want to deal with the bullshiat at this point. The hoops you have to jump thru thru at this point are honestly, rediculous.
How Meck77 puts so much effort into this is beyond me. I commend him. I just run the remote. It's such a circus even to get a seat, I would probably just hang with the bus than go to the actual game. I'm sorry, but it's gotten so rediculous. It's like when there is a computer mixup and the computer says to strip search some 86 year old granny or 86 month old baby. I saw something from Geraldo, and it was amazing. He has a triple SSS on his boarding pass because of all the times he's been to Iraq or Afganistan. Don't we all know who Geraldo is? I think so! He said that if some terrorist sees SSS on the bottom right of his boarding pass, he will get auto searched. So any terrorist can just turn around and walk away. You think about it. it's not even in a scanned boarding pass. It's printed. I get my boarding pass, it's sss, I just turn around and leave.

What? You don't like Jake? What? You think it's his fault? Bring it on! I once argued in his defense (sort of) without sleep for nearly a week! Can you handle that? What? I can't hear you? You talking to me? You sure you are talking to me? I don't see anyone else here so you must be talking to me!
Props to all guys in Europe representing the Broncos.

Faider Fan telling us about homefield advantage. Half the stadium empty and the other half with Drag queens on crack? This has been happening all over the NFL as teams build stadiums and displace fans to put in club seating. Add in the whole experience has gotten so expensive Joe 6-pack will just sit at home than go thru the grief of the parking, the congestion, the 5 dollar warm flat beer, the security, blah blah blah. My cousin has club seats, and he says it's totally lame in there. When Taco couldn't go because business had come up with the Oakland game, I called my cousin. He said he wasn't going. I begged him. He said he can get club seats free for any game, but wasn't even going. I couldn't believe it and called him a p***Y. Then I found out that he divorced his wife of one year so she could start getting alimony again but still lives with him. How screwed up is that? I didn't even know he had gotten married, yet alone divorced. How amusing. That witch is sucking about 2K a month from the poor bastard even tho she has a full time, good job and a total spoiled brat daughter. I just shake my head. You never have seen such a brat. I hope he's not lurking right now. ;D
