Ex-Duck arrested on assault charge
Former Duck football player Junior Siavii was arrested after an alleged altercation with a woman at Taylor's Bar & Grille
By Hank Hager
Sports Editor
January 12, 2004
Former Oregon defensive tackle Junior Siavii was arrested for assault early Friday morning after he allegedly struck a woman at a Eugene bar.
Eugene Police spokeswoman Pam Olshanski said officers responded to a complaint at Taylor's Bar & Grille at 894 E. 13th Ave. at about 1 a.m. and found the woman with redness and bruising around her eye.
Olshanski said Siavii was at the bar with about 10 Oregon football players and was not cooperative with the officers at the scene. Olshanski said the woman allegedly spilled alcohol on Siavii, although officers found no indication of alcohol on the former Duck.
Siavii, 24, was freed from Lane County Jail on $255 bail.
Oregon spokesman David Williford said it is hard to comment on the incident until the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics learns the particulars.
"It is certainly unfortunate; however, something occurred and it is certainly not condoned," Williford said. "It is difficult to impose sanctions on someone who is no longer on the team."
The woman who filed the complaint, Jennifer Hegstrom, could not be reached for comment. Williford said Siavii was on his way to Hawaii and was unavailable for comment. Oregon head coach Mike Bellotti was on a recruiting trip and unavailable for comment, as well.
Bellotti told the Emerald in early November, when asked what he expects of his athletes, that "they are perfect gentlemen and they recognize their responsibility as student-athletes."
Bellotti said student-athletes are trained on proper conduct, which includes discussions with lawyers, judges and police officers.
"I think we have very positive peer pressure on them to do things right and live up to the responsibility," he said at the time.
The altercation is the second such incident involving an Oregon football player at Taylor's in the past year.
On May 11, 2003, according to a police report, then-Oregon free safety Keith Lewis punched track athlete Brandon Holliday after a brief verbal altercation.

Siavii was reported to be very drunk and roughing up someone in their hotel lobby in downtown Minneapolis. When the police showed up, Jr. began throwing objects, shouting profanities and then proceeded to spit on the cops as they were cuffing / stuffing him.
Wesley must have tried to block the door to the hotel as the cops were trying to get Jr out of there. He was maced and arrested.
Jr is charged w/ 5th degree assault and disorderly conduct, Wesley w/ disorderly conduct.

Sh!t at bars and getting kicked out. I went around with one of my freinds brothers and a couple players one night and we were all kicked out of 4 bars that night. They get all there alcohol for free then go around starting fights i dont know how but they always seem to find people to try and fight them its realy entertaining.

Being kicked out and having the cops come and arrest and mace you are two completely different things, IMO. Also I have a hard time believing the woman was trying to start a fight with him.

Moss was far from a God up here. He was tolerated as a way to get to the SuperBowl but he was far far from worshiped, at least by most, and certainly not me. He could break open a game, or break your heart with sloppy play and childish behavior. Good riddance. McCombs gone, Moss gone, two down, one to go with the Meathead.

Minnesota cops are an odd bunch, but they are not thugs like LAPD. They have judges that set rediculiously low bond at times. I'm surprised tho, not if they were acting out after a humiliating asskicking up here, but they resisted arrest, a much more serious crime. I have always been amused when idiots fight with cops or run from them, or the other assorted idiotic behviors criminals exibit. You get busted, it's yes sir, no sir. You try spitting on a cop looking like this guy in Mississippi he might of simply vanished. They probably just wanted the creep out of town and let him fly off. He will have some tinhead lawyer plea it down. They are so used to Moss' antics, just kinda let the boys play. Spitting on a cop and reisting arrest deserved ten times the bond tho.
Minnesota has always been rather footloose and fancy free regarding drinkin' Eh. But it's usually beer. However, when I was young, we would have the U. of Okoboji homecoming, and they would have a huge BYOB party at Loon Lake just over the border. Bad enough it was 30 miles from Okoboji, but BYOB meant BYO mixer. Bottles of Vodka were everywhere, set out for anyone. Probably 20 of them. Big ones on every table, set out for free. Plus all kinds of suds were hauled right in. This was back in the heydays of the late 70's, but even I was amazed. Absolutely no age checks. Just a drunken band and crazy people. I was fairly buzzed before I even got there, but this place was rediculous, besides the fact it was an accident waiting to happen. Well it did, and two died, and one other was crippled. It was a long time ago, but looking back, incredibly irrisponsible. 100 cars racing back with BAC of .30. Those days are over.

August 15, 2005 CHIEFS0815
A Kansas City Chiefs football player allegedly got into a drunken confrontation in a downtown Minneapolis hotel early Sunday and was being arrested when his teammate allegedly charged police officers.
Both players, Saousaolii P. Siavii Jr. and Gregory L. Wesley, were ultimately arrested.
According to police reports: Siavii, known as "Junior," was "extremely intoxicated," throwing objects and yelling obscenities at a 21-year-old man about 1:15 a.m. in the lobby of the Graves 601 Hotel.
As officers attempted to arrest the 6-foot-5, 336-pound defensive tackle, Wesley blocked the exit and charged the officers. The 27-year-old Wesley, a 6-foot-2, 206-pound safety, was sprayed with a chemical irritant and arrested.
Siavii, 26, refused to get into a squad car and spat at the officers. A hood was placed over his head and a van was summoned to transport both players because of their "extreme size," the police report said. The incident in the 600 block of 1st Avenue N. lasted 10 minutes.
The men were booked into the Hennepin County jail and later released.
Bob Moore, director of public relations for the Kansas City team, said that he was aware of the arrests but that the team would "let the legal system take its course" and likely wouldn't take disciplinary action against Siavii and Wesley.
The team has a training camp in River Falls, Wis. They lost to the Minnesota Vikings 27-16 Friday at the Metrodome.
According to jail records, Siavii was booked on suspicion of disorderly conduct and fifth-degree assault. Wesley was booked on suspicion of disorderly conduct.
The case will be presented to the city attorney's office for possible misdemeanor charges, said Minneapolis police spokesman Ron Reier.
Hotel management refused to comment on the incident.

Find a post where I ever defended or said that MoC will do anything in the NFL. MoC was pretty much a 4th round pick while KC traded out of the first round and drafted this 27 year old thug that beat up chicks and lived with his mother still. Heart warming stuff. There was countless articles about the tuff times that Junior went through. You know the ones where they lied to him about his college scolly and all that heart breaking stuff. I didn't see any of that crap about MoC. As bad as MoC has been in the past its safe to say that he doesn't have a temper and he has never hit a chick that I know about.
