The baseball versions are groundbreaking and entertaining, but I have never been too impressed with the pro football version. In the past, they haven't been much different from your typical Sporting News, Pro Football Weekly or Street and Smith's preview magazine. Has anybody checked out this year's version? Is it cutting-edge or is it more of the same crap from previous years?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v437/BroncoLB56/ProFootballProspectus.jpgI've been buying the baseball versions of the book since 2000. They're one of the highlights of Spring for me.
I bought the football book in 2002 and was so unimpressed I'll probably never get another one again. I just don't think football lends itself to the kind of in-depth statistical analysis baseball does.
I'd also be interested to see if anyone else reads the football Prospectus books.

I have actually never bought the Pro Football version. I have picked it up at the local bookstore with excitement and then find its not worth my money when I glance through it. However, this year's book has some good reviews on Amazon and I am thinking about going to the bookstore to check it out:

By the way, I agree with what you are saying about statisical analysis in football. A lot of football evaluation is subjective. How do you rate an offensive tackle's performance in terms of statistics? You can watch every play of Matt Lepsis but you really don't know the full scope of his performance if you don't know his assignment. All statistics are flawed. Like garbage passing stats in blowouts or a draw rushing play on 3rd and 21 in which a running back nets 19 yards. Sometimes, its hard to distinguish what's legitimate in the grand scheme of things.
