Broncos' Brown skips pity party

Defensive end glad he avoided surgery on his injured elbow
By Lee Rasizer and Jeff Legwold, Rocky Mountain News
August 11, 2005
HOUSTON - It's no small feat that Courtney Brown can find a bright side to getting hurt. But that's how Brown is approaching his latest injury, a dislocated left elbow he suffered while trying to make a tackle during an Aug. 4 drill.

Instead of feeling sorry for himself, the oft-injured Denver Broncos defensive end was pleased he will miss only three to four weeks instead of the possible alternative. "Thank God I didn't need surgery," he said. Brown wasn't sure what to think when he first went down at the (Gratuitous Plug) South Suburban Family Sports Center. One minute, his arm was outstretched to corral a ballcarrier; the next, a safety was inadvertently plowing a helmet into his arm. "When it happened, I really wanted to know what was going on because I couldn't feel it," he said. "Then, all of a sudden, the pain just rushed in there and I didn't know why the pain was rushing down my arm. I didn't know what was going on. Then they told me it was a dislocation. And when they told me I didn't need surgery, I felt better."

Brown has missed 33 games the past four seasons because of physical problems - 14 last season because of a torn ligament in his left foot.
He also has endured, in six NFL seasons, a partially torn ligament in his right knee, a high left ankle sprain, a rupture in his right biceps and micro-fracture surgery on his left knee. Brown isn't putting a timetable on his latest rehabilitation, which he has continued at Reliant Stadium as the
Broncos practice with the Houston Texans. Making the trip allows him to stay involved with the team through meetings and to observe workouts while working with the training staff.

"I just want to get well as fast as I can," Brown said. When he does return, he likely will wear a brace, but he has been buoyed by the news he is expected to heal fully without elbow problems lingering throughout the season.

Smart move doing rehab in Texas to be with the team for meetings and workouts too. I really am pulling for this guy, he has great desire to be great. I just hope he is not too fragile to get there

This guy just really seems to have bad luck, but I too am pulling for him to make it.

Yeah it is starting to look like Gerard will be the steal of the browns lineman.
Him and a healthy trevor will be such an improvement from last years.

Kaylore said Michael Myers was looking good in camp, as well.

Mock's Prayer: God, We in our Church pray that Mr. Brown will be able to wreak havoc and destrution against our enemies in your name. We ask you heal him, and bring him back to his former self.

Yeah, God, I got pissed when TD went down, yes, it was me that bit your ankle. No, I'm not interesting in touring Hades. When I said God Dammit it wias out of hurt, not contempt. Go back to your seat in row 101.

I am glad Courtney isn't a whiner. I hope he pulls it off. I have always been glad Denver picked this guy up but the depth we have right now is the key.

I'm just hoping God doesn't read my last post. I think Brown can stil contribute. Who knows, he's snake bit. I did put in a sarcastic prayer for him tho.

Seriously, If God didn't mean us to have a sense of humor, why do we have one, or at least some of us. The others I simply pity. I find way to many things amusing which simply piss off other people. It's called the human condition.

Don't worry mock, I think God likes to laugh, otherwise why would it feel so good.

If God repped you I don't think it would count for more than Atlas rep. Atlas has God rep. God...well...he doesn't post that much. Does that mean that Atlas is God? Whoa. Dude!

What kind of avatar would God have? What football questions would you ask God? I wonder what God would think of Tagliabue, Rosenhaus, or Al Davis? Would God also laugh at the Chiefs or would it be only their fans?

Does God count as a Bronco insider? Would he have a weekly column and talk about why the Broncos continue to suck in the red zone?

The good lord clearly has a sense of humor.

After all, look at the Chiefs.

Your such an idiot I Laugh Out Loud. You don't even comprehend a semblence of context. Did I talk about God's Avator? Did I ask God a question about Tag, the or Al Davis, or the shark the comment was not at the Chiefs either. Did I say God was a Bronco insider?

I'm not even going to bother tearing you a new one. Yoiu have no concept of humor, none of context, and are totally uneducated, hostile and probably have dirty underwear. I'm not bothering.

How do you play that down.

Honestly, alot of kids looked that rediculous in the 70's I debated in a purple and yellow leather suit that would make you go ROFL laughing. I cant remember where this thing was found but was a full leather coat, Purple and Gold, in checkers. It wasn't loud, it screamed. It was outrageous when I look back. We had a great attack and won the state championship then another at Iowa City, but I will never stop laughing.

I wish I had a picture. It was so over the top I still can't believe I pulled it off, but was the late 70's. I think I even put the collar out on it. Just crazy. Long Blond hair, checkered gold and purple swede suit, collar out, amartass, it was totally amusing.

Anyone else find it strange that Brown took the trip to Houston to be apart of the meetings and such, while Clarett stayed in Denver. Seems kind of odd to me. Maybe the Broncos think Clarett needs some special attention?

Think the Denver Post wrote that Clarett is spend alot of this team with assistant strength coach. He still needs to get into football shape

I think C. Brown can still do running drills, while Clarett's groin, there isn't much but rest unfortunately.

Clarett stayed behind for a MRI.

Is Warren still unable to practice?

I also heard that Lepsis pulled his hammy (slightly??) and wouldn't be playing in Saturdays' game. Didn't Lepsis just get done claiming the heat and humidity helped a body get loose?

Clarrett stayed to get an MRI and get treatment. Groin pulls seem especially tricky. Take need grasshopper. :b
