Hello everyone, It is time again for fantasy football! The Mane is once again having a competitive league and we are taking sign-ups now for the league.
The entrance fee this year will be $35 and payments will be taken via Paypal for this year's league.
This year's Superbowl winner will recieve a
personalized Broncos Jersey (http://store.denverbroncos.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1772024&sName=TACO+JOHN&sNumber=7&step=setCustomJersey&cp=716586)
with their username and number of their choice.

We have once again split the league into two seperate, individual leagues (The OrangeMane league and the Neck Pony Nation league) this year to accommodate everyone who wants to join. Each league will host 12 teams per league this season and will have seperate drafts.
Selections will be made based on seniority on the board (ie. registration dates). However, even if you are fairly new to the board, please feel free to sign up as we do have 24 spots to fill this season. We want to get people who like to participate from draft day to the last day of the season. So only sign up if you are serious about your team.
Formal invitations will be handed out next week via e-mail and/or PM so don't wait to get your name in the league as spots will be limited!
As for the league, we are using Myfantasyleague's flexible website for our league this season and it should be great to use. If you want to take a look over at the site, We have turned on guest access on the site.
http://football14.myfantasyleague.com/2005/home/52942
***Please note that this is only a guest access and that if you do join the league, you will need to set up your own account and password on the site after you recieve your invitation***
The league rules are as follows
(Note - The rules might change slightly over the next week as we finish putting the final touches on the scoring system)
We will have 17 man Roster Limits
and you must have 9 Active Players out of 17
Reserve Players 8 / 8

We'd really like to see the fee paid asap. But as long as payment happens before we draft, it shouldn't be a problem :)

I need to mention as well that we are having our draft dates on Sunday August 21st at 6 pm EST for the Orangemane conference, and Wednesday the 24th at 9 pm EST for the Neck Pony conference.
If neither of those dates work for you, please let us know asap since we will be confirming the dates with everyone asap and priority will be given to those who have already asked for a specific date.

Are you having trouble loading the site at home because you are on a dial-up? I know for draft day, we are stripping down the main page to the bare minimum for speed (for 56k users) Let me know if its a problem for you down the road

I was having problems with the site last night as well during the mock draft. Those were due to lag since I have a 56k modem....although I'm lucky if my phone line lets me get near 36k. But if I have a problem during the draft I'll call shack and complain. ;)

Cool.
Some of the pages I can access without too much trouble, but all those objects on the front page are just too much for my old horse to deal with.

Yeah, we are still working out the kinks on the front page of the site. Mainly we are attempting to implement tabs and drop down bars for easier access to the site's front end. Hopefully by draft day, I'll have a pretty good chance to finish uploading the stylesheet and rss feeds.
We are still tweaking the draft page and hopefully by early next week, we should be ready for the draft.
Lastly, I need to take a sample of what everyone views the page at. Its optimized to run at 1024x768 so if you are running your screen at 800x600, it might be alot more cumbersome to view the entire site...

try the draft page and see how it works.
there were some rumors about possibly using a different site for the actual draft though so I'm not sure if that is the site we will use.

Thanks. I'll have to check it later, 'cause I'm at work now.
My home PC is on dial-up and I imagine the modem is pretty slow. My typing is even slower, so it's never been a problem before.

I just switched to DSL from dialup a couple weeks ago Dude. Alot of sites just asume you have flash and run video without asking. Flash stuff, instant download stuff, it's rediculous. This DSL I just got is too slow, but it can load stuff. Home pages shouldn't be detailed for broadband, when some don't have it. It's discrimmitory.
I'm going to march on Washington. Get Jesse Jackson on the phone...we got issuers here...free access...denied, denied by the man with power, we know who that is...we march today on Bill Gates, the Sauron of the Modern World....Everyone take up your wothless pencils and march to Seattle...

I like the new set up Pez...it's a lot easier to use and not near as herky jerky (that may because I was the only person there or the fact that it was using macromedia flash). Either way it looks good...you've done a good job with it.

Yeah, we installed a much better draft room for the upcoming draft days and I think it should work much better. But you are right, you will require Macromedia Flash to use the draft room.
Whew...we are much closer to being ready for the final launch :)

For those that don't have macromedia flash go to www.macromedia.com. THe download is simple to locate it and will be an easy download even for 56k warriors such as myself.

I hope you love the Wr's, because I think that is all you got!
Are you referring to my team?
Duece, Lamont and DeShaun are all #1 RB's. The only question is Foster and I cuffed him with his backup (Shelton). Either way, I have a starter. Add Travis Henry to the mix (he'll start at some point with Chris Injury Prone sharing the backfield). Fason is a good gamble in the late late rounds and Dayne was just incase of an injury to either MA or Tatum.
My RB's are stacked IMO.
At QB, I like Bulger. He'll throw anywhere between 32-37 TD's. I took McNair because this league weighs heavily on the Running QB. Throwing TD's are only 4 points so Manning does not rate highly in this league. If McNair gets hurt as usual, I have Volek waiting in the wings. We all know how well he did last season.
WR is great for me if Walker doesn't fade. Moss and Walker is as good as any combo in this FF league.
At TE, Dallas Clark should thrive now with Pollard being gone.
Akers is probably the best kicker in the league.
Giants D was the best available when I drafted them.
I'll stack my RB's and WR's against anyone in the league when weighed equally. Not a knock but I would rather have my backfield then your's. Bettis will get little to no yards once Duce comes back. Carnell Williams is a risky start as a rookie. Pittman ran really well for Tampa so any slip up by Carnell and he will be splitting carries with Pittman.
Tomlinson trumps McCallister but my other 2 starting RB's grealty trump your's.

I felt sick during the draft because, except for the wild, senseless homer reach I made to get Mike Anderson, almost everyone I got thru round 14 I would have got on the autodraft function anway.

Thanks bro... I was third pick overall. I aimed toward balance... I picked up three runningbacks in a row, (Alexander in one, Martin in two, and I'm of the opinion that I stole Bell in three), and then went to fill out the rest of my team. I have a pretty heavy Broncos investment, though none of them were drafted as starters, save the Broncos defense... But having the Pats defense on deck is pretty sweet.
I think I've got a team that can make a serious run.

Overall I was pretty happy with my draft. I waited a little too long to grab a wide receiver and have a couple injury concerns, but all and all I think I did ok. Picking 11th is kind of hard because after the first 7-8 players go off the board the next 20 players are kind of clumped together.....

I'm pretty happy with my team. Sure the RB thing could suck but I will have to wait and see. My Fav pick was Heath Miller. I think he will win the ROY this year. Also without Plex he should get some love in the RZ. The main problem though is Gonzo is going to have a even bigger year because KC has pretty much unproven guys for Green to through too. The one guy that I think is getting no love is McNair. So he was hurt last year big deal the guy still is one year removed from his MVP season, also he does rush for TD's on the goal line as well. I was pretty surpised to get a guy that caught 8 td's last year with the very last pick. Right now is the time where we all think we can win it all though :) so I guess we will have to see how the cards fall.

Good potential but you need some help at WR and TE.
I think I'm fine at TE..Chris Cooley had 6 TD's in the 9 games he started....if Gibbs utilizes his H-back like in times past. I'm golden.. As for WR..I'm weak, no doubt. I'm loaded at RB though, and with WR, you can play the waiver wire game depending on matchups.

I don't know what you're worried about. In LT, you have the best RB in the NFL and you stole Mike Anderson in the 9th round. I spent a 6th round pick on the guy. Shipp isn't a bad player, and could see a lot of time if Arrington isn't "all that." Curtis Martin could go down at any time, so Blaylock's not a bad pick either. Same with Rhodes in Indy and Williams in Minnesota. You have vultures circling people all over the place.
Andre Johnson is a great wide receiver and Ashlie is sure to be the Broncos #1 guy ... Rod Smith has slowed down, and we don't have a legit #3 or a decent TE, so who else can Jake throw it too? Ash is not a bad pick at all.
McCareins & Calico are perfectly legit gambles. I'm not optimistic about Calico's health, but who knows?
Graham might not be the hottest TE, but he'll get some TDs.
You might have gone for Brady too high, but this league penalizes sacks and he's got a pretty good line.
With a little luck and some fine tuning, you could win a lot of games.
Sassy

I think it was a pretty close game, actually. If I remember right, it came down to a Monday night finish of some sort, and you just fell 4 or 5 points short. But I can't remember too much about anything these days. I know Shack slapped me around once in the regular season and destroyed me in my only playoff game. I split with Pez. I lost another early game but can't remember anything about it, excet that I had Droughns on the fantasy bench while he was racking up 150 yards on the field. I got lucky when the Fat Bastards had everyone on bye the week we played. And I got a break in the schedule and never had to play the Evil Head Brigade.

Pretty sure RB's get a 3 point bonus for going over 100.
I think it's stupid that QB's lose points for sacks. I do however like the fact that they knocked the QB's down a notch so that they are the final authority in games. Last year w/Manning hardly anybody had a shot at beating me when he was throwing 4 and 5 TD's a game. He was scoring 45-50 points a week for like 8 weeks! It was a good move but losing points sucks! Atleast I'm picking some points up from my kicker... in the mane league anyhow!

Johnson, Rudi CIN RB
at Browns Sun 1:00 p.m. ET 6 1 Rushing TDs
0 0 Interceptions
1 12 Receiving Yards
0 0 Fumbles Lost (to Opponent)
12 126 Rushing Yards
19 Subtotal
He got me 22 in the geek league with the 3 point bonus.
From the scoring page...
Number of Rushing TDs 0-10 6 points each Test
Rushing Yards 0-999 1 point for every 10 Test
Rushing Yards 100-100 3 Test
Rushing Yards 200-200 6 Test
Rushing Yards 300-300 9 Test
According to this, the only way to get the bonus is to land exactly on 100. Looks like someone fvcked it up.

I had that happen to me as well. It'll get fixed...not that it matters for me this week anyway.
I am getting killed in every single one of my fantasy leagues. My list of disappointments:
Delhomme (thanks for the 4 points), Favre (thanks for the -3 points), Green (thanks for the 6 points), Alexander (thanks for the 7 points), Martin (thanks for the 7 points), Stover (for the current -3 points), Horn (thanks for the 6 points), Burleson (4 points I think), Driver (6 points)....the list goes on.
My highest scorer on one team was E Kinney with 8. OUCH!!!!
