Kiwi is a freak, a pass rusher extraordinaire who has the frame to become an even better player in the NFL. Could replace Browns castoffs that the Broncos signed.

Whitworth is more of a football player than an athlete, and doesn’t grade out as well as you would believe, but would fit nicely at LT for the Broncos, replacing Matt Lepsis.

Some of those combos are awesome. Mario W. and Harris. Kiwi and Max Jean Gilles/Whitworth. Hawk and Harris would be great if we didnt get Gold. Blackmon is a good corner but we dont need anymore. Obviously I hate Leinart. Very lukewarm on Jacobs/Hagan. I could take Hagan but not Jacobs, at least not that high.

I would like the one from Consensus on another post that had us taking Winston and Jimmy Williams in the first. That would be ideal - a tackle to replace Lepsis long-term, and a safety who has the ability to cover more than just his ass, which we still don't have unless Ferguson starts pulling rabbits out of his hat, and quick.

As for later rounds, I see us picking up either Degory or Eslinger for a centre in the 2nd, or the 3rd if neither is gone by the time we pick in the 2nd, and a guard in either the second or the 3rd. Dunno how/when we will start looking more at the D, will depend on how the year goes I guess.

The Broncs are not going to draft a QB in the first 2 rounds for as long as Jake is the quarterback, which should be about five more years. People place too much emphasis on replacing the current QB. Look at the Packers who needed defensive help and took Aaron Rodgers and Favre could still probably play two more years after this one.

I can't agree with this statement for two reasons.

1. In 8 years, Plummer has 20 INT's 5 times. If he continues that this year, I believe the Broncos will be looking at a replacement much sooner than 5 years.

2. It has been since 1991 that we have had a top 10 pick. And I don't see us getting another top 10 anytime soon. If you can get a franchise QB in the top 10, not many teams will pass on that opportunity.

This will be an interesting year to see if either LeSeuer or Browner develop at S. I think one, if not both, might become very good players.

Good points. I was just saying that Shannahan has already committed to Jake. It would suck if we had a so called franchise QB riding the pine for too long behind Jake. If Plummer does blow ass this year/ which IMO won't happen they should draft a QB. I just don't like the idea of using a first or secound rounder when their are going to be some studs at other positions in next years draft.

Yeah, his salaries do escalate but that is the same as every other player in the league. He is erratic, I guess this season will prove people wrong or re-affirm their beliefs about him. Like I said previously Shannahan has already given Jake the vote of confidence and it would not be very productive if we had a high price QB holding a clipboard for more than two years.

Give me Lienart and a stud LT and I will be happy. The back bone of the O is always going to be a stud LT and a great QB. Drafting both in the first round of a draft would rock.

6'5" over 220 pounds. Thats what you want in a QB. A guy who can see the field. Passes won't be knocked down at the line either. Smart player with a good arm. Pete and Chow don't make bad QB's boys. Just face it. He will be the future. :)

I have been impressed with Browner. He was unable to participate earlier but seems to be catching up quickly. Our LBs should be set for 3 years and like mentioned earlier Jake (unless he completely craps out) will be the starter for at least 2 more years. So I would think the 2 picks may be in the trenches at OT/DE or DT.

With this years cream of the crop being OT, I'll be dissapointed if one of our first 2 picks isn't an OL. (That almost guarantees that we won't take one.)

You can call Leinart a whole bunch of thing, but you can't call him a scrub. A scrub is a loser, a guy who plays during the strike years, a no-talent no-heart sob.

Matt Leinart stayed in school, and passed up sure fortune, and most probably, fame to finish his degree and be there for his team. The guy has done what it takes to win 2 national championships on very talent loaded teams. But there are a hell of alot of talent loaded teams that fall short, just ask Oklahoma. ;D

Matt Leinart needs to prove himself this year. Prove that he has NFL talent, and prove that he has top-tier NFL talent. I will be watching him very close...

And I did watch him close last year. He has pocket presence and poise. He has a big enough frame to be very effective in the pro game. The thing that Leinart has, which I believe is his strong suit, is, above all, he has very, very good accuracy. And that, my friend, might very well be the single most important thing to have in the NFL game. Not good accuracy, but VERY GOOD accuracy.

I think Accuracy is the one thing that is missing in Shanahan's (offensive) System. Very good accuracy is the difference between a 7 yard gain, and, if properly led, a 20-35 yard game-breaker. Accuracy, accuracy, accuracy. We Need it. Matt Leinart (*might*) has it.

With all that said, Leinart has to prove it this year. Consistently prove it. Have poise and ice water in his veins. I want to believe he will come through with flying colors. But in this case Seeing is believing. I need to see it first.

Whoever we draft next year, I want it to be the players that make this Broncos team the best possible team it can be, both then, and into the short-term and very long-term future.

Yeah, I think our system is changing, so we don't necessarily HAVE to have a mobile QB anymore. I think what is more important is to have one with very good ACCURACY!!

Id take SOB every day of the week over Leinhart and 8 times on Sundays. SOB is one of the top 10 QBs in this league, Leinart is a system QB who has been propped up by his star teammates all the way back to HS.

I believe Williams is just a Junior but he will come out unless he has an injury or a bad year for some reason. I do think he has the potential to be the best player in the draft this year. There is a lot of love for Kiwi on this board, but I think Williams has the potential to be a much better pro with his size and incredible athletic ability.

Can't really go wrong with Rod Wright, Kiwi, Williams, D'Brickshaw or Winston (if he shows he's healthy) if Denver gets a Top 10 pick from the Skins.

I don't think we can go wrong with any of the choices on the DL or OL. I stand by my Lienart and a stud LT thing though. Most teams search for years to find that and if we can both in the first round of one draft we will be set for years, even more so when you look at the age of our O.

The only thing I can see negatively with Leinart is his mobility. He reminds me of Drew Bledsoe. I don't really see a QB worth the Broncs drafting 1st maybe 2nd rd. The 2 DEs, Wright and or 1 of the OT (Ferguson preferably). And hopefully 1-2 bigger guards.
No Offense, but Leinart and Bledsoe are two completely different type of quarterbacks. I don't really see any simularities whatsoever...

That would be a very good duo. DF would be very happy. I cant believe Wright is projected down that far. And to the damn ratbirds too. Ugh.

Still thats a very solid duo for us although by picking a WR that high, that prolly means Watts didnt come through.

I was waiting for you to holler when Wright and Harris were that low on the list.

I can't imagine all of those USC juniors leaving early. Are you hearing that from the locals?

They are paid well here. Leinart would have been an idiot to take a reduction in salary to go to the league. Ha!

It is expected though that Bush and White will both leave after this year. They have another great back coming up in the program, im forgetting his name though.

Im going to try and keep my eye on Davin Joseph. He was the guy that was a Tackle last year and now is playing Guard right? He could be the answer to our RG problem. The more I read about Nalen it looks like we will need a RG and a LG next year as well.

I'm much more partial to keeping Hamilton at LG myself. It seems that finding a good guard is much more difficult than finding a good centre. Granted we've been spoiled with Nalen all these years, but I think with Eslinger coming out of Minnesota, and Degory coming out of Florida, we would be well-to-do to pick up either one and hope that Nalen can last one more year (even with a reduced load) and tutor them.

Also, Joseph is going the other way - was G last year and is swiching to T - as far as I know.
