I knew that Al Davis still owes Shanahan money, but I didn't know that the only reason Al Davis didn't pay Shanahan the remainder of his contract after firing him was because he went back to Denver. Shanahan said on NFL Network's In Their Own Words that Al Davis said he would honor Shanahan's contract as long as he coached anywhere but Denver. It's no wonder Shanahan hates Oakland so much.
Al Davis reminds me of Castro. He's an stubborn old man who's own people will suffer as long as he lives.

It's called a "no competition contract" where when your given a release, you get your money but can't go to work for a compeditor. Considering Greasy Al never gave anything, it would of been ludicrous to assume Shanahan signed such an agreement. Consequently, Greasy Al simply assumed that Shanahan broke his contract. We don't need this gray haired Rat on his leg...Shanahan doesn't need the distraction from that scum. Bowlen probably pulled him in the office, gave him the disputed money and told him to concentrate on the task at hand. Of course it sticks in Shanahan's craw, but he's well taken care of here in Denver, and it's almost laughable at this point.
Shanahan fired, wins two SuperBowls. Gruden fired, wins another. Last SB win by Al Davis was 1983, over two decades ago. They even got a first rounder for Gruden, but what did they do with it?
They are very overrated.

I knew that. It was $250,000. I remember after Davis took all of Oaklands tax money when he brought the team back. Shanny said quipped that he didn't want the money and that Al should give it to the Oakland school system since they were going to recieve less money because of the Raiders. It was classic Shanny. He can really deadpan those zingers.

Exactly. We allready all know what a scumbag Al Davis is. It's not worth the distraction except for the honor of it, and it's hopeless. Let Al Davis fight the courts. He's been there, done that. He robbed LA, then he robbed Oakland. What makes you think he didn't rob Shanahan?
It's not even important now. Shanahan has a mansion at Cherry Creek on the golf course and a lifetime contract. Next.
