Good article, thanks for posting. Gotta love Bowlen, says all the right things and backs his coach 100%. In Shanny we trust.

I like quote from Bowlen.
“A lot of guys out there fire their coaches because they want to get to the Super Bowl and they can’t get there with the guy they got. Well, I’ve been there twice with the guy I’ve got.”

Bowlen is one of the few classy owners in the NFL. Way too many are pure slime.

Two more great quotes:
“That’s not in my vocabulary, rebuilding,” Bowlen said during an interview with The Gazette. “Building a football team is for expansion franchises.”
“Are Broncos fans going to be happy if I say, ‘We’re going to win a playoff game this year, that’s our goal’?” Bowlen said. “That’s not the goal of this organization. We’ve been to five Super Bowls since I’ve been the owner and won two, and our goal is to win the championship. If we start out with any different goal we’re shortchanging everybody including ourselves.”

You're absolutely right. The Chargers have a good thing going here in San Diego, but I know Alex Spanos is not giving A.J. Smith and Marty Schottenheimer all the available resources they need. If the Chargers had Bowlen, they would be a serious threat to make a Patriots/Eagles type of run.

Spanos's father was one of the slimiest. He made a habit of building projects, taking the cash and declaring bankruptcy to cheat his subcontractors. Just as bad as the Enron or MCI folk, but not nearly as well publicized.

“He’s my coach. How many times do I have to say that?” Bowlen said. “Mike’s got four years to go on his contract, and he’s my coach for hopefully longer than that.
There you go. I love watching Shanahan football.
You gotta love an owner who's commited to winning championships. I feel sorry for teams like the Browns or the butt-hole of owners, Bill Bidwell.
Thanks Pat.

He not is not only willing to spend but also sit back at let the people he hired to run the football team do their jobs. Thank God he is no Dan Snyder.

There is a reason why Broncos players continue to say that they work for the best owner in sports.
