Hey Guy's I just got done drafting my fantasy football team. I am doing the free yahoo league, and was just wondering your thoughts on how I did and what you would grade my draft. Throughout the week you use 1 qb, 2 rb's, 3 wr's, 1 kicker, 1 defense, and 1 te. Everyone else who has drafted should feel free to post their teams , so we can see who the best GM is. Let me have it!

Thanks, SoDak Bronoc

Al's Boys

2. (12) T. Owens

I don't like your RB's to be honest. McGahee is a stud. Bell is a big question mark for your #2 RB...who knows if he will last and Shanny is the devil when it comes to fantasy. Barlow is a questionable #3 RB and Dunn should be a good #3 since you have Vick as well. I'm shocked you got Barlow and Dunn so late though so they could help you. Other then that I think you are pretty solid. Keep up on waivers and do some key trades later on.

How many teams?

There were 10 teams, i was the 9th to pick, and I was iffy on getting tatum, but wiht the upside that he has I couldn't pass him up. Plus I'm a homer~!

Depending on how your league is set up I would try and move Vick. Bad shoulder on a bad passer isn't good.

IMO you took Vick too high. You will be starting Hasselbeck most of the year.

See if you can get a better RB and QB as the season progresses. You will probably have to trade for the QB as I doubt there is much available after the draft (although I have seen several with Leftwich or Griese going undrafted).

Which QB's and RB's are still available?

IMO the 9th and 10th spots are the worst for 10 team leagues.

Yeah Vick I am not crazy about, and you took Mcgahee 9th overall? I dont like that. Tatum and Andre were your best picks and you got good value at 15 with the Warrick dunn pick. Muhamad I think he will have a very average year. If TO is around he will be a legit #1 receiver, we all know that.

IMO the 9th and 10th spots are the worst for 10 team leagues.

Not in mY league last year. I had the tenth and my friend had the 9th. He took Culpepper with the ninth and I grabbed Manning. I then picked again with the 11th and grabbed Moss while he pick 12 and got Harrison. If you get ninth or tenth you get those two real good players you can basically grab together.

I agree its just not a good spot to build on RB's. I'm not a RB guy most of the time. I think you could do just as good if you land two or three of the top WR's while everyone is getting the good RB's. Take a chance or two on the rookie RBs thats my game.

I love the Hasselbeck pick. With some WR's who can actually catch the ball he might be a top 5 fatasy QB.

I'll side with the other guys about Bell/Dunn/Barlow. Big bunch of ?'s right there.

I'd trade a guy like Owens (who's just pr!ck enough to hold out all year) and get some value. A back like Curtis Martin, Holmes (missed games the last 2 years), or Deuce McAlister could probably be had a lot cheaper than what they produce.

The Cowboys 2nd year back (it's late and I can't remember his name) looked damn good, and knowing Parcells he'll lean on him all season to protect that statue Bledsoe...

Great WRs. Colbert in round nine is sweet. I actually think your RB corps is pretty solid. MacGahee is fine at nine and Barlow might be a mega steal in the 11th round. I think Vick might be good trade bait. Atlanta's schedule doesn't favor major improvement in Vick's numbers this year.

I think its a little too early to draft.

There are always a few injuries in pre-season that drastically affect the draftboards.

For what its worth, i have McGahee frozen for this upcoming draft (Over Ahman Green) so i'll be rooting for the Bills ground game right along with you.

Well Colbert's value just went down since they aquired Gardner. Colbert was drafted as an intended #3 WR and was forced into a #2 role last year. If Gardner picks up the offense he will probably be the #2 and Colbert will drop to #3 being more of a possession type WR.

Yeah i think Muhamad was probably the most questionable pick that I had. for some reason, i don't see him being as consistent with Rex grossman as his qb. BTW, I am amazed at how low they have the Broncos defense pre-ranked for yahoo. I know we don't get many turnovers and sacks, which are obviously how you score points, but we were like ranked 23th or something like that. I know we can't be that low overall. I acutally like picking toward to end of the round compared to pickign toward the top, because it gives you an idea of what way the league is going, and allows you to decide how to setup your team.

Yeah Vick's name is prob. what attracted me when the timer was running down during the draft. I actually prefer Hassleback, so I am going to look to ship him off. I love Colbert, i was at the Carolina game at Milehigh last year when he tore us up. He is going to be a star, and I think he will outplay Gardner IMO. We will see, but with Muhamed, i woudl imagine he will be the top receiver?

Denver's D is ranked low because they didn't have any TO's, low number of sacks, and didn't score any points. Your top fantasy producing teams are not always the best defenses for an actual game...look at the Colts D for example. If your league rewards points for limiting yards then Denver goes up, but not many leagues do that.

One comment... leave your team affilliation outside the draft room. Never draft with your heart.

QBs - Hasselbeck is a fine starter most weeks. The loss of Koren Robinson is a good thing, they have a nice stable of "guys" they can count on behind Darrell Jackson. Vick ... trade him to a Falcon homer. Take Vick and Barlow and try to get a top RB.

RBs - McGahee is a great pick and I'm not sure why someone frowned upon him at 9th overall. Willis is a 1st round talent and will have a great season. Bell will be fine if he's the guy, but I don't trust the situation. Barlow sucks and will lose his role as the starter to Frank Gore by week 6. Dunn is a 1,000 yard 6 TD RB that will frustrate you weekly as you try to figure out "is THIS the week he does well"?

You have 1 guy you can count on. If Bell pans out, then you have a nice duo, but this is one time you shouldn't have drafted with your heart.

WRs - I like your 1-2 punch of Owens and Johnson. That's solid and while Owens' antics concern me, he'll play. Smith should be a decent #3 for you early on as it will likely take Muhsin time to get into the role with the Bears and Colbert has some questions now that they have Gardner.

Not a bad group, you have a solid 1-2 punch like I mentioned, but depth is questionable.

TEs - I really think that Clark is going to rock and roll now that Pollard is gone. In that offense, if you can catch you can score and the TE will be huge. Putzier is a decent depth choice here. I'm not as sold on him yet, but the potential is there.

K's and Def... it's all a crapshoot with these two groups.

I think you have room for improvement at RB and a bit at WR, but you also have trade bait with guys like Vick, Putzier and possibly Dunn.

I would get a feel for what other owners are wanting and make some offers.

Ok heres mine, be kind.
Keep in mind I had the 11th pick in a 12 team CBS sportsline draft...

Q.B's: Favre and Hasselback

Running backs: Clinton Portis, Steven Jackson, and Domminick Davis. I then dropped my backup defensive team (Giants) for Thomas Jones.

W.R's: (Worst position for me) Isaac Bruce, and Jimmy Smith. ( backups Brandon Stockley and Donte' Stallworth)

T.E: Putzier and Daniel Graham. Not a steller position either for me.

Kicker: Jeff Wilkins

D/ST's: Seahawks

That's it!

You got Thomas Jones for a defensive team? WOW....

Looking at your team:
QB: Solid group.
RB: Awesome 1-2-3 punch with Portis and Davis and Jackson. I would try to pick up Vorency just to make sure with Dom and then try to get Faulk with Jackson. You never know.

WR: Yeah they aren't that good, maybe later on you will be able to do a trade later on. Watch the waiver line and pickup any sleepers picks that are available (Toomer, Randle El, Gardner now, etc)

TE: Yeah they aren't anything fancy either. Putzier is a good sleepers, while Graham is going to lose some touches to that new guy (watson I think). Getting a trade later on might help you out (WR-TE Combo for a RB maybe).

Gotta love the QB duo - sweet combo.

RBs ... it would be hard to find a better 1-2-3 punch in a 12 team draft. WRs are not dominating, but your first 2 should be 1,000+ yard guys with upwards of 7 or more TDs each... who knows if Stokley will do what he did in 2004 again.

Your TEs aren't the "big names", but that's not a bad thing... picking the week either could rock will be the challenge. You might find the guy with Cedric Benson and see if he has a WR you covet. If so, offer T Jones... a guy like Stokley and see what happens.

Thanks for the analysis guys. I always look for the breakout players, and thats why I took a swing at Putzier, and to a lesser extent Steven Jackson. Your right about Graham, I totally forgot that they had Watson (Yikes)...Thanks again...
