Pretty much the same things they've been saying...he's on the hotseat, he can't win without Elway, he's signing players he shouldn't be signing and letting players go that he should be keeping, blah, blah, blah.

Because he was dubbed the mastermind, I think a lot of people in the media really, really want to see him fail. He hasn't gotten the golden egg in a while, but he puts a solid team on the field year in and year out.

they say, shanahan cant win a playoff game without elway...he will win one, then they will say, well, he cant win a superbowl without elway...he will win one, and then they will say...well...he cant repeat without elway...its all nonsense. the media doesnt play, so their opinion doesnt matter.

we play Miami on our opener, if we win, it's because its a bad miami team that is in rebuilding mode. If we lose, we deserve to be laughed at by the entire league and especially the AFCW...because we gave them a game up on us. We also suck ass in Florida in the first two months.

media used to say vermeil has good success with teams in year three...guess in kansas city time...that should be about now, right? No doubt Vermeil hasn't won a play off game since 1999 and no one bashes him. The media loves Vermeil and hate Shanny.

I mean Shanny is not a guy who will cry at the drop of the dime and he is not some one who will say something funny like Parcells, so they don't like him.

99.9% of sports writers and TV people suck.

From what I've been able to gather, the press, both print & broadcast, tend to frown on the Browncos moves, generally believe Jake Plummer will always be a mistake waiting to happen...and, oddly enough, think Shanahan is a coach who could take a street mob to the play-offs.

There are two more media roundtables before the regular season begins. Denver media, in general, isn't placing a lot of faith in Denver ability to overtake San Diego &, with notable exceptions, Kansas City, but also is hedging it's collective bets (butts) with the same conclusion of many journalists with columns & reports you've read here from around the country...never count out Shanahan.

From what I've learned the last two weeks, the concensus is that Denver will finish third behind San Diego & Kansas City...with San Diego the majority pick to win the division again.

More or less, going with what they think they know.

The western journalists...not surprisingly, differ more realidy than the eastern, or even mid-western writers & broadcasters...or, at least the ones I listened to, give Denver a fighters chance to rise up & take the division.

Personally, I support the Brownco moves & believe Denver will be a player in who gets to the big show.

Denver's defense will rank among the top three & the offense; the top ten.

The schedule is brutal, so 10 wins is a real achievement. It also leaves the survivor as one of the toughest play-off opponents any team will face...and the play-offs are a whole new season, so anything is possible.

OK most of you know I lean toward homerism, that said I am placing a 1000 dollar bet that Denver will win the Super Bowl this season. Why? Because the D will CRUSH opponents lead by warren Brown and Pryce with a great and I do mean great set of backups spelling them. The linebacking crew will be top 3 in the league. We will have more sacks than any Bronco team ever and interceptions will double over last year at least. We will need some luck in the secondary but we have lots of potential players that could step up. The biggest difference will be the kicking game and field position. Plummer will take off in this third year in Shanny's offense just like Elway did aided by lots of much improved talent in skill positions such as lelie Watts Putz and Bell. Q will be a third down factor as will Rice or whoever outplays him if he gets cut. We will need some luck on the O line which may be aided by a training camp pickup. Our coaching will be better as well. My fellow Bronco fans we are going to the Super Bowl and I got a grand that says it is so.

All bets off if Plummer is hurt.
