In the bizzaro world of Terrell Owens, black is white, up is down, and yes sometimes means maybe. Even as the Eagles' wide receiver was telling one reporter yesterday he will be at training camp on time, his agent was telling another nothing's been decided. "I spoke to Terrell a few minutes ago and, no, we have not made that decision [to report to camp] yet," Drew Rosenhaus told the Daily News last night. "He and I are definitely still kicking our options around. I always said it was 50/50 [that Owens will be at Lehigh]. I still feel that way. After talking to Terrell, this thing is still very much up in the air."
Barring a dramatic turn in negotiations, the Packers won't have tight end Bubba Franks, either. "I guess you can never tell until the 11th hour," Franks' agent, Gene Mato, said Friday. "But unfortunately, it doesn't look like he's going to be there. However, he really wants to be there. To this point, I don't believe the team has stepped up."
Anticipation continues to build for Ricky Williams' return Monday to the Dolphins. But the running back already has adjusted to his old surroundings. Williams, who has reached out to some former teammates, has been to the Dolphins' training facility at least twice since returning one month ago to South Florida. He was examined by Dolphins trainers in one instance. He bumped into a draft pick Friday. "I was getting in the elevator, he was getting off," Daniels said. "I was like, 'How you doing, I'm Travis.' He's like, 'I'm Rick.' That was about it, but it was cool to see him. I never got a chance to see Ricky in person before."
The Saints released linebacker Derrick Rodgers on Friday, ending his two-year relationship with the team. Rodgers, who experienced a season-ending back injury last November, was waived injured, which entitles him to an injury benefit. It is unclear if Rodgers, 33, plans to sign with another team this season.
Eagles punter Dirk Johnson underwent surgery yesterday to repair a sports hernia, which means he will not be ready for training camp when veterans report on Aug. 1. The Eagles still hope Johnson will be ready to return by the season opener, Sept. 12 against the Atlanta Falcons, but they will probably bring in a veteran punter to training camp. It's possible that 43-year-old former Eagle Sean Landeta will get a call to join the team at Lehigh. Landeta, a veteran of 20 NFL seasons as well as three seasons in the USFL, last punted for the Eagles in 2002.
Kirkland authorities released Koren Robinson from jail Friday after the former Seattle Seahawks receiver posted $25,000 cash bond, police confirmed. Robinson, 25, has an Aug. 4 date in Kirkland Municipal Court after police accused him of violating Judge Albert Raines' order to abstain from alcohol. According to police, Robinson's breath smelled of alcohol Wednesday morning when he arrived to serve one day in jail stemming from his conviction Monday on a DUI charge.
Dolphins General Manager Randy Mueller will make an upcoming appearance in the new reality television show Super Agent, which debuted Friday on Spike TV. The show chronicles the courting of Detroit Lions defensive end Shaun Cody by nine agents until he ultimately chooses one for representation. As part of the process to weed out agents on a weekly basis, Mueller is believed to conduct a faux contract negotiating session regarding the deal Cody would receive after being drafted.
The Eagles said that both Terrell Owens and agent Drew Rosenhaus contacted the team to tell them the wide receiver would indeed report to training camp. Rosenhaus, who did not return phone calls, said in two television interviews that it was not 100 percent that Owens would report to training camp. "We haven't made any decisions yet that are final," the agent told ESPN and Comcast SportsNet. "Things can change. It's not training camp yet. There's no question that Terrell and I are thinking very strongly about reporting to camp... . We've gone back and forth on this a number of times. I don't think a final decision will be made until the day of." The agent suggested that an unhappy Owens would be a major distraction in training camp.
Jacksonville Jaguars fans can cool off a bit this summer with help from the team's Cool Catmobile ice cream truck. The Catmobile will be appearing all over the community, distributing free Lemon Freeze cups, magnet schedules, temporary tattoos and more.
With an assist from the NFL, fans wanting to see the last week of Jaguars training camp are likely to receive a reprieve. The league decided this week on a formal media access policy "to be implemented immediately" that overrules the Jaguars' previously announced plan to close the final week of this year's camp to reporters.
There is uncertainty about the future of NFL labor relations as well. Negotiations between the league and the NFL Players Association are ongoing, with both sides optimistic about a resolution that would extend the collective bargaining agreement. The deal expires after the 2006 season, which would leave the 2007 season without a salary cap. In that case, teams could spend what they please, likely altering what has been an extended period of competitive balance because of the cap, which limits teams' payrolls. Already, this possibility is affecting contract talks with top draft picks, several NFL executives said.
The Patriots are the league's model franchise, with three titles in four years and the opportunity to become the first team to win three straight Super Bowls. In an era of supposed parity, with the game designed to allow teams to quickly rise from the dregs to the playoffs, New England is a dynasty. The loss of the Patriots' two top coordinators -- Romeo Crennel and Charlie Weis departed for head coaching jobs -- and Pro Bowl linebacker Tedy Bruschi, who is out for the season recovering from a stroke, could make the Patriots vulnerable.

It's fun to have the comedy of Ricky Williams and T.O., but it's time to get down to business.

Must be great to be Packer fan these days. That knucklehead conerback, whose name escapes me, forces his way out of town last year. Now you've got Walker and Franks holding out. What a mess.

Mike McKenzie he held out long enough to force that trade. Seem like many in Greenbay are over the hype of playing with Favre and now want to get paid what they feel is their value.

I'm curious, does Madden still have Favre ranked as Superman?

I'm sure Andy Reid is just tingling with anticipation about what Terrell Owens is going to do
...meanwhile, at the team BBQ five defensive linemen were slightly injured fighting over the missing Owens food share.
"The pig was especially good today" Coach Andy Reid was quoted as saying; "This stuff is worth more than money"
Owens sat, watching longingly from a distance in his car;
"I could afford that...I could BUY that...I just want what's fair"
Owens' agent Drew Rosenhaus denys Owens has demanded rose pedals layed by young virgin women along his path of entry into camp
"That's just not true...no-one said a damned thing about roses"

There doesn't seem to be an end in sight to dumb ideas for reality shows... Hilarious!
