14. Washington Capitals: Tuuka Rask, Goalie, Ilves (FIN)
The Capitals do not have a premier goaltender in their system that will excite the fans and Rask has the potential for greatness. The next great Finn goaltender is a potential superstar who has the poise and mentality of a veteran. He sees the play development quickly, anticipates well and makes saves look easy. He is tremendously athletic and has the ability to carry his team on his back.
Doubt it. Ouellete is still considered a blue-chip goalie prospect and Stana and Max 2 are pretty decent as well.
C or D for DC

I agree...I really like Ouellete.

How old is Ouellete now? I swear I've been hearing about him for about 7 years now and he's yet to make any real showing at the NHL level.
Though I do have to give the Caps credit, they absolutely raped the Flyers in the deal that landed Ouellete. A 1st, 2nd & 3rd rounder plus Ouellete for Adam Oates (who played for Philly for about 2 months). Ouch.

That sounds about right. I believe I first started hearing about him when he was playing in goal for Canada at the World Junior Championships. The guy's been a prospect for quite some time, any chance the Caps could buy out Kolzig and give him a long look?
It certainly wouldn't hurt them in the Phil Kessel sweepstakes. ;D

I bet he'll be Olie's backup to start the season and then will takeover as the starter if they find someone who wants a goalie around the trading deadline. A buy out won't happen since they don't have enough committed salary to come anywhere near the floor.
It's getting to be put up or shut up time for Max. If Price slips to their spot, maybe they'll take him since he's the #1 rated goalie this year.

Jack Johnson would be a great addition for Carolina.

In Hindsight, maybe. You can say the Caps raped us, but you have to look at all the variables in the deal. At the time, Brian Boucher was our "G O T F" (Goalie of the future. Also, the Flyers felt they were 1 center away from getting to the Cup.
Sometimes you have to give away the farm to get over the Stanley Cup hump.
The Flyers also picked very late in round 1 on the 1st round pick that they gave up. I'm not really worried about the lose of Oullete though. Esche has played great and we have a total Blue Chipper that won the Calder Cup for us in goal this year.

He won't be there, Anaheim will take him at #2. The Flukes have several young forwards but they're lacking in defense prospects. I'll be shocked if they don't take Johnson.

i like raycroft but
22. Boston Bruins: Ondrej Pavelec, Goalie, CZE-87 (CZE) The Bruins do have a tremendous young goalies in Andrew Raycroft and Hannu Toivonen but Pavelec is too good to pass up. He's a lanky, 6-foot-2 netminder who has the athleticism and mobility to dominate games and a series. He is technically sound and is rarely beaten low, even on a 2-on-1. He gives his team confidence in his play and attitude as a battler on the ice.
that kid souds to good to pass up

TEAM: Erie Otters (OHL)
POSITION: Right Wing
HEIGHT: 6'4
WEIGHT: 210 lbs.
BORN: 12/15/86 - Gloucester, ON
NOTES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Selected 18th overall by the Erie Otters in 2002...helped Team Ontario to a bronze medal at the 2003 Canada Winter Games...represented Canada at the Under-18 Junior World Cup in the Czech Republic. (Photo: Getty Images)
BOB MCKENZIE'S TAKE: The assessments on the Erie Otters' late 1986 birth date are all over the map. Some teams have him as a mid-first rounder, others wouldn't take him in the top 30. He's a big, strong power forward type who can skate but there are concerns about offensive limitations. He had off-season back surgery last summer and didn't round into form until late in the season, when he was at times dominant.

15. Alex Bourret i doubt he will be passed over but i like the sounds of being mean lol.

TEAM: Shawinigan Cataractes (QMJHL)
POSITION: Right Wing
HEIGHT: 5'10
WEIGHT: 209 lbs.
BORN: 10/05/86 - Drummondville, QC
NOTES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Represented Team QMJHL at the 2004 Canada-Russia Challenge...was traded from Lewiston to Shawinigan on June 4 in return for Shawinigan's first round selection...scored a goal and an assist in the 2005 Top Prospects Game...tallied 14 points in eight QMJHL playoff games in 2005. (Photo: Getty Images)
BOB MCKENZIE'S TAKE: A fire hydrant on skates, Bourrett plays the game hard and with an edge, often to the point of being mean, and is not without offensive ability. His offensive numbers have consistently gone up, just like his penalty minutes. He was recently traded from Lewiston to Shawinigan.

In other news, Detroit is preparing to buy out Derian Hatcher. It'll cost them $9 million to buy out Hatcher's contract at 2/3 it's total value. Combined with the $6 million they paid him for the 03-04 season, Detroit basically paid $15 million for one season of Derian Hatcher. Yikes, that'll go down as a Krupp-esque signing.
