Parker: Lynch to have it covered as host of football show Broncos Live!
July 21, 2005
Broncos bruiser John Lynch is used to the spotlight on the gridiron, but how will he fare out of uniform and in front of the camera?
CBS 4 is betting that the Broncos safety will successfully tackle his new assignment as the star of his own show, Broncos Live!, at 6:30 p.m. Mondays beginning Sept. 12.

Sports anchor Vic Lombardi will run interference between Lynch and a weekly guest player at the Old Chicago restaurant at Broadway and Mineral in Littleton (public welcome).
The Lynch and company lineup replaces the The Mike Shanahan Show, which moves to 6:30 p.m. Saturdays and repeats at 9 a.m. Sundays beginning Sept. 11 (the Sept. 10 time slot is taken by network coverage of U.S. Open Tennis).
"We worked with John somewhat last year," CBS 4 honcho Walt DeHaven said about his choice for the TV time slot. "He has a fantastic work ethic and is really strong on air.
"After last season, we looked around the league to see what the best shows were," DeHaven said.
"The more we talked about it, the more we liked the idea of doing a recap show, but from the player's perspective."
CBS 4 opted to take a pass on Broncos Saturday Night, the Lombardi-hosted show that followed a Broncos player off the field.
"We all liked Broncos Saturday Night very much internally, but we couldn't get the viewers to really embrace it," DeHaven said. "It was one of those shows that never got traction."
