Nothing too much but i bought the pfw 2005 season preview and when they talked about how champ bailey had a down year last year they said " a much improved pass rush should help him". So an indirect compliment to the d-line but at least they admited it. Almost not worth posting but i thought it would be nice for you guys to hear what eveyone knows and dosent want to admit from the media.

I don't see why people don't see this. Who was on that D line last year? Hayward was the only one that was worth anything, but he wasn't as good as people thought. A banged up Titans O line gave him 3 of his 10.5 sacks late in the year.

This line has question marks, mostly health. But they are better than last year's line. There is no question about that.

Here's another thing lets asume that Brown stays hurt. That still leaves Ekuban who had 8 sacks. And what about Warren. We got Mario Fatafahi, Luther Ellis, Darius Holland, Monsanto Pope and Anton Palapoi to proform above their market value at the time.

The line is a wild card. I could see it going either way. In the perfect situation, Brown and Ekuban are both healthy, Warren breaks out, Pryce is fully recovered and adjusts to the RDE spot...Andre Patterson has 'em all bringin' their A game.

It could also go terribly wrong. We don't exactly have a great track record in recent years of bringing in guys from other teams that made an impact here and the ones we home grow we get rid of. Leon Lett, Chester McGlockton, Kavicka Pittman, Raylee Johnson...the list goes on. This unit will make or break us this year.

I'm sure this is before we added another 6 plus sack end as well. A well rested Dline is a scary Dline.

Let's admit the obvious here... this line could be better and still not be good enough. Last year's d-line was simply not a factor. There is no other way to say it. The d-line had reasonable stats, but was not an impact unit. This unit needs to take a quantum leap (at least in the pass rush dept) in order to be at a championship level.

Players that didn't play for Denver last year that do this year
Pryce
Davis
Ecuban
Brown
Myers
Ellis

These players are healthy and going to compete for starting spots

Players Denver lost on the Dline
Hayward

How can people say that this won't be a better D line?

I must also point out that despite all the problems last year The Dline played pretty well. They did a good job against the run and finished middle of the road in sacks.

I look for big things from this group. I really do.

Ellis played in roughly half the games last season, right?

Nonetheless, I see what you are getting at. I don't think anyone would argue that in terms of talent and potential we are better, but its about production. Scouts, Inc had it right; its about finding the right mix of motivated and healthy players combined with chemistry. I hold out hope because there are like 200 of them to choose from. Until that mix is found, people will be doubters. What's worse is that C Brown is one injury away from a bunch of people saying "I told you so".

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Darius Holland hasn't been on the Broncos roster for over a year, and he wasn't even that good the one year he was with us. I don't understand the fasination. I guess it's because he played at Boulder...that alone makes me GREAT!! Yeah right...

I don't see how that's bad news. Darius Holland was maybe slightly better than Jelly.
