View Full Version : Broncos at Giants Game - Need to hear from those interested ASAP

Meck was planning an East Coast trip to the Meadowlands this October for the Broncos game against the Giants.
I volunteered to try to plan the outing and have put some great plans in place. It could be a real kickass weekend.
But I need to hear from people to know whether or not there is some modest interest level in getting a good outing together. There is a lot of anti New York sentiment on this board, so my gut is this outing may not get off the ground.
I have been working on a Hotel in New Jersey that will likely price rooms at around $79 per night which is a steal in NY Metro. I also am exploring 2 seperate angles for tickets; a NY Metro ticket broker as well as a Broncos booster club.
I also have the Manager of the Sports Bar connected to the hotel, licking his chops over a Saturday Night Broncos fan-Giants fan tailgate bash inside his place. He is planning on printing flyers and putting them up in his bar 2-3 weeks in advance of our arrival.
He also said he will make sure the Hotel will accomodate Orange Force One in the parking lot, for the weekend.
Here is why I need a response. The hotel will only price that way if at least 10 rooms are being booked, and the Sports Bar manager will only get behind the effort if I can guarantee at least 30 Broncos fans will be in attendance on that Saturday Night.
I will be going to stay at this Hotel-Sports Bar tomorrow night and wanted to give my buddy an update on our plans, if any.
So please post here and let me know if there is any interest in getting a Broncos tailgate together.

Meck,
Get some feelers out there too. I don't have any pull around this joint these days so you will need to promote this thing as well.
I am not sure that we will be able to pull off a large group, but I hope there is some solid interest.
I will give it a week or so for response time, but if the response is poor, I will pull the plug on my effort. I just patronize these places too much to get the Bar and Hotel behind it, and then have a poor showing.
Anyway, I'll PM you in a week or so.
Again, let us know of your interest level.

I had originally wanted to do this, but the 51 inch TV I bought this weekend kinda puts the stopper in this. Bummer...but when the time comes I might be able to swing this, but I can't commit now.

Put me and Mrs. Bum down as we are planning on making the trip out to NY. I am planning on finalizing the plans w/ Meck when we go to the Chiefs MNF game on Sept. 26. Bum Jr. has also expressed interest in going. Let me know what you can do about tickets. I'll do the BBQ as I love to cook.

Philly is in for sure. I was in discussions with Meck a few months back. We were talking about him stopping by my house in Philly and chillin in the basement for a while and then hoping on the bus for NY.
Meck sounded up for it but I still have to make sure everything is a go.
Either way, you all will be blessed by my presence yet again! Can't wait to hang with Meck and B-Love again.

BTW, who is anti New York. Chit, Philadelphia and New York have a long standing "hatred" for each other. However, I love the City of New York. Some of the people their are a ph*cking disgrace but New York is everything about America.

We are 100% on board. Infact I just put OF1 in the shop for a full once over.
We finally got those damn broken windows fixed and some other little stuff. OF1 made it thru all the tests! She is in good shape! :charge:
DiscoMan and myself are driving OF1 and I'll probably have a couple guys from the construction crew with me and probably picking up a few people along the way. Blue Damsel and my girlfriend will probably fly. Gsrelyea has a good group coming also and he is renting an RV last I heard.
I plan on making stops along the way Philly. Hell I have to that's a LONG way. We need to backtrack on the NY tailgate thread and flush those people out.
I've been posting on the Broncos board lately and getting to know some people there as well as the freaks. Infact there are plenty of freaks stopping by this season at MH. I'm sure some of those guys would be up for a Broncos gathering in NY.
We have a pretty big East coast Omane membership around here. I cannot see why this won't fly B-love.

Here is the east coaster thread. We need to email these people!
*edit* Well I just tried to email a few people on the first page who said they want to go. Everyone has their email option disabled. I know it's not standard protocal around here but maybe Taco would do an email to everyone and flush them out?
Perhaps he has other annoucements he could make as well? Maybe a switch to "Regular season mode coming soon or something'.
What do you say Taco? Can you help B-love and the rest of us pull this NY trip together?

I'd imagine I'll have 6-8 people with my group alone b-love. We can get 30. Easy. I just hit up the freak board with a thread. Alot of people overlap between here and there these days anyway. The more Broncos fans the better!
I just realized we dont' have a band lined up. Any of you East coast people have a band connection? I'll bring the generator!
Oh hell I forgot to mention this to you B-love. I'm a member of the Broncos Quarterback club now. I ran into some of the old timers at the fan fare and they signed me up!
This is the oldest Broncos booster club around. Their club is doing a BIG trip to NY and I told them about our plans. These are older folks but they are die hards. I'll get in touch with them. They are all flying out but they get around with charter buses. I'm sure they could swing over Sat.
We will blow this up B-love. Have no fear Meck is here!

Meck, I am very friendly with some folks in the QB Club. They provide me with great tickets every time I visit Denver.
The Club is not quite the same as it used to be as Bowlen has really downplayed their role. They were one of several very active organizations that used to have weekly meetings.
Red Miller used to go to their meetings very often for instance, as did nearly every key player/coach. It was one of the things that made the Broncos so communal.
I am stoked that you are a Member. Somewhere in that Club is a person with a relative sitting on those 1976-1983 Broncos telecasts. Keep the feelers out there.
You the man!!

Antilles, absolutely.
With this QB Club trip, we should have plenty of attendance.
I will contact the poeple I know in the QB Club to see if they are interested in staying at our Hotel too.
As of now, there is plenty of room at the Hotel and we might be able to take over half of the place.
This is great news Meck!!

I am def. in for this game, I have rented an RV and should have 6-8 people with me, plus others that are more local than I am. I think my dad and some friends will be coming up from central Jersey as well. B-Love do you think the bar owner would mind a 31' RV parked there for the night? I have a 3 day rental on it, starting on that Saturday- I am about a 2 1/2 hour drive from the stadium. Planned on just driving back Monday morning- because nobody in my group will be able to drive after the game. Looking forward to this one-thanks for setting this up.

And if there are any stray tickets floating around I could use some. Have some hookups with the Giants, and several beer companies, but I won't know how many tickets they will give me until closer to game time. StubHub has tons of tickets available but they are very expensive for decent seats.

What a great idea. Wife and I will join you all. We will probably drive up from Annapolis unless there is a nearby Amtrack station and reasonable logistics to hotel/stadium. We need more poeple though as I spoke to the QB Club and they already have their own plans. We need to fill up 10-15 rooms and need some bar business in order for them to give us good prices for rooms.

Hello, how are you? I probably will not participate in the hotel activities. I don’t drink anymore, so I won’t be much fun. Also, I have a dog and I would hate to have to put her in a kennel for the night.
When you buy your tickets, can you pick up an extra one for me? I will send payment ahead of time so you will not have to take on any credit risk. The only Bronco game I ever attended was the infamous Tito Paul game, and I sat next to a couple of Joey Buttafuco wannabes who threatened to rip off my fingers and kill me, and the walk back to my car was like the Bataan Death March. The only thing that kept the situation from becoming real ugly was that the Broncos lost. It would be a welcome change of pace to watch the game while surrounded by a bunch of Bronco fans.
Thanks,

Although I am not a Yankee Fan (go White Sox), that weekend of the Broncos Giants game will likely be Games 1 and 2 of the World Series, and since the AL won the All Star Game, and has home field advantage.............
Could OF1 stop by the House That Ruth Built?? The Yankees will find a way to win that division I think. If the Yankees come out of this tough road stretch against Texas and LA Angels in decent shape, I would look for them to get healthier and make a serious run.
A World Series game first pitch would likely not be until 8:25PM or so, especially on a Sunday Night.
Even if we don't make it to Yankee Stadium, any Sports Bar we go to in Manhattan on Sunday Night would have some serious juice with the Yankees playing.

If enough people were into it you can rent out the skybox at ESPNZONE in time square to watch the series. I rented out the skybox there for a nfl draft party. Nice big leather chairs your own tvs and looks down on the wall of tvs in the screening room. Open bar, buffet and you can relax in style while watching the game. Just a thought. Everyone who came to the draft party loved it and wants to do it again next year. Its a nice spot to watch any kind of sports event.

The band is a good idea and I will ask. The only catch I see is if it is World Series time, and this Sports Bar wants to blast the World Series audio over the sound system versus a band? He usually has MNF games, for instance, blasted throughout the place versus music.
I should see my buddy within the next 10 days and will ask.
Here is what I am asking for:
Saturday Afternoon tailgate with OF1 from 3PM till dusk, and then we are heading indoors for the Sports Bar Giants Broncos tailgate party. On October 23rd it is reasonable that it will stay light until 6:30-6:45PM or so.
Just so everyone understands, I am not asking my contact to allow a big Bus to pull into his lot, so we can just drink in the parking lot and not spend any $ in his place. Not to mention to take patrons out of his joint to just come into the parking lot and drink.
One hand washes the other. He allows us to park the OF1 in his lot and we have an outdoor Oktoberfest type Saturday afternoon tailgate from 3PM-7PM, at which time we start to wrap up and head into his place when it gets dark.
Also, we need to book at least 10 rooms, to make it worth their while.
Is that OK??
Also, if the Yankees are not in the playoffs, he may be more inclined to allow a band to play inside during the WS game. He has bands all of the time.

Meck,
I have a semi crazy proposition for you, but you may be into it. If you were to do this for my boys (Pee Wee Broncos team), I would reward OF1 with a nice B-Love Broncos history library collection. We can agree to that; every playoff tape ever or the whole 97 and 98 seasons, whatever; we can figure that out later. I'll reward handsomely.
You have said that you intend to be in the NY area for 4 days or so, so I got to thinking. I know you want to hit Greg's Pad (philly basement), but I wanted to see if you'd be interested in heading out to my home for something as well.
Check your PM's for my proposed agenda for the weekend.
PM me back after your consideration.

It might be a little faster that way, we want to go through K.C. and St. Louis. We have some time to get it straight.

OK, here is some of the news after meeting with the Ramada Inn Sportz Bar Manager, as well as Ramada Inn Hotel Sales Manager.
1. Hotel - They have agreed to a room rate of $69 (damn good for this location), which will be able to be called in within the next few weeks. I am meeting my buddy again at his place on Monday Might, after he returns from Canton (he is a Dolphins Freak). He will either give me a promo code for the room rate or he will just inform the reservationists to give a $69 rate to Broncos fans that call for rooms. They want 10 rooms booked minimum, even if it is just for the Saturday Night stay over. The room rate will be good for Saturday and Sunday Night stays. I'm sure he'll honor it Friday Night as well.
2. Outdoor Tailgate - The Bar Owner has agreed to rope off an area for OF1 in the parking lot of the hotel for what will, hopefully, be a Broncos fan-Giants fan outdoor tailgate the day before the game. We are being allowed a 4 hour outdoor parking lot tailgate on Saturday October 22nd from 3PM-7PM. It should get dark right around that time, maybe a little prior than 7PM.
3. Sportz Bar Bash - After our outdoor tailgate, we are all asked to attend a Giants Fan - Broncos Fan party inside the 10 West Sportz Bar, from 7PM till close. This place has over 40 TV's, but he has agreed to put on Broncos highlights DVD's on three of them. He also will show old Broncos Giants games from the past that I supply him, as well as alot of hockey, college football and of course World Series action.
The above two events (outdoor tailgate and Sports Bar bash) will be advertised in his bar with printed flyers, for several weeks before the bash. I will promote this event to all of our Broncos friends as well as several Giants boards. I will also notify the Quarterback Club people that are coming to the area to see if they want to join us.
4. The Band - The bar manager is psyched about the idea of a band coming along and has given his full approval. There is one little hitch. Because Saturday October 22nd is scheduled to be Game 1 of the World Series, he said he cannot allow a band to be playing while the Yankees are playing. So if the Yankees don't make it to the World Series, he will let your band take the normal stage spot in the bar, and they can crank away.
If the Yankees are in the Series, he said he will allow the band to play a seperate back room, which is adjacent to the bar. He said that if the Yankees are playing, the patrons will not want a band, as they will want to hear the game audio.
5. Tickets - The best broker number I could get right now is $165 per ticket. He can get large numbers next to each other though, versus all of us being completely scattered around the Stadium.
All of the tickets are extremely high priced now as Stub Hub and Ebay, etc., are much higher than $165 right now. Plus if you add up the Hotel and ticket charge, it's really not that bad. Share a room with someone else and your at $200 for Hotel and Ticket.
6. Sunday Morning Breakfast - As a small throw in, we will all be given Free Breakfast vouchers for the Sunday morning hangover meal, before departing for the Meadowlands. Since it is a 4PM ET kickoff, we should have plenty of time to get some AM food, and then head over to the Meadowlands between 11AM or 12 Noon.

Next message will have an agenda to follow.
I proposed something to Meck and he has agreed to it. I promise to provide OF1 with a nice video library addition to make future road trips a little more enjoyable.
phillybroncosnut(G), I know you want Meck and the crew to check out your place, and I'd love to do that myself.
But what I proposed Meck would have him coming to my house for a bash Friday late afternoon and night. Is it possible that we could come to your house and visit on Thursday Night?? What I would do is try to spend a working day in the Philly Metro area working on Thursday and then grab a hotel ovenight in the area until Friday AM. On Thursday Night we all check out your Orange and Blue palace, and then the Bus heads out to my house on Friday Noon time or so, trying to arrive by 3PM or so.
philly, if this agenda is workable for you and your wife (Thursday visitors), then I would go ahead with this agenda in the next message. Your basement has to be seen sometime during that visit, but Thursday would be a good fit if possible.
If that is OK here goes:

The below agenda would be based on Meck coming out to have OF1 be a great photo-op for all of my Pee Wee Broncos kids, on my team. I asked Meck if he would bring his bus out to my house for my Pee Wee teams annual party. Instead of having a end of season party in November, I would just move it to Friday October 21st, for all of the parents and kids on my team.
In addition, Meck will drive my entire team on OF1 to their Saturday morning game. How cool of a thrill with that be for a little kid??
Also, whatever Broncos crazies make it on OF1 the better!! Hopefully by the time Meck hits Philly and Long Island, he's got a decent crew of Orange Mane folks with him. All of you can stay over Friday Night.
Here is my proposed agenda.
Thursday October 20th
Thursday Afternoon – Arrive near Philadelphia, to party with in the “Philly’s Basement” overnight. I am going to try to get down there as well.
Friday October 21st
Friday Mid Morning – start the trek to Long Island to my House, arrive Early to mid afternoon and relax/chill for a few hours.
Friday Night 5PM – 9PM Pee Wee Broncos team party with OF1 at B Love’s house – kids get photo opportunities with OF1, Meck and Disco Man, and whatever other OManers, etc. We can grill for the kids and parents as well as party ourselves. I've got a good party yard for all involved.
Team Parents and Kids go home to get their game rest
Friday Night 9PM-Whenever – Broncos fans party in my house and backyard, I also have a great Broncos Sports Bar basement, that we could party in.
2AM – Shut Eye, hopefully! I can give lots of floor space and some couches as well as people can sleep on the Bus in my Driveway if they choose.
Saturday October 22nd
Saturday 8AM-9AM - Team breakfast for my Pee Wee Broncos back at my house. Can you grill bacon and cook eggs, etc.? Maybe some pancakes?? Team breakfast with the kids in full uniform.
Saturday 9AM – 9:30AM – My team boards the OF1 Bus to go to their Pee Wee Saturday morning game. Orange Force One drives a Broncos team to their game!!!!!!! 15 kids on team.
Saturday 10:30AM-12:30PM – Pee Wee Broncos game
Saturday 12:30PM-3PM – travel to New Jersey to our designated Sports Bar/Hotel arrangement.
Saturday 3PM-7PM – Sports Bar sponsored Parking Lot Broncos Fan-Giants Fan tailgate Party, Oktoberfest BBQ.
Saturday 7PM-2AM – Sports Bar Saturday Night Bash w/ Broncos and Giants fans; possible live band as well as Broncos videos showing.
Then catch some sleep at Ramada Inn East Hanover
Sunday October 23rd
Sunday AM – prepare for Meadowlands tailgate, free breakfast at Hotel
Sunday 10AM – depart for Stadium, can arrive in 20-30 minutes from Hotel.
Sunday 10:30AM-3:45PM – Meadowlands Tailgate bash
Sunday 4PM-7:30PM Broncos-Giants game
Sunday 7:30PM – 9PM – head to Manhattan for a Sunday Evening hang with an open agenda. Disco gets to Studio 54, etc. We can cruise down to ground zero, etc., or got to a famous club??
Let me know what you think.

B-Love, I am okay with ANYTHING that involves, OF1, the Broncos, hanging with Meck and Disco again, hanging with B-Love again, Messing with good old NY fans and watching a Broncos victory.
Let me send a PM to Meck. I have an idea I want to run by him but I don't want to put him on the spot on the forum. I'm hoping to make this a 4 day event for myself.
Actually, I'll send you a PM as well Bri. I'll run my idea by you.

Yo b love, we need to know how to get to where studio 54 used to be! Can you hook it up? I need a pic in the disco get up in front of that place!
As you pass through St. Louis on the way you need to take a bathroom break at the Edward Jones Dome, Home of the Rams and take OF1 to PT's in Sauget where the DiscoMan got his first lap dance !!! The little lady said
"You are the Man and that definitely feels like the legend is growing." ROFL!
Disco is more popular there than Tequila at a Sammy Hagar party.
