Imagine my surprise when another moron decides to pontificate on Rice's age. If the guy can play and contribute who are we to decide his life for him. These journalists need to get out more. I've gone from meh, to luke warm, to I want Jerry Rice in there to shove it up this dumb sports writer's ass, on this issue. Seriously, Rice has been good with the media, he's a class guy, he doesn't do dumb sh!t and the same guys who were on his jock his whole career are now using him as a punching bag. What douche bags. Meanwhile Double Homicide Lewis and 8-ball Jamaal are getting rave reviews. One newspaper even pointed out that jail did 8-ball good because he got to work out more....never mind he was participating in a friggin coke deal....I'm nauseated.
PS. Not knocking you dude, I hope it doesn't come off that way. Just Mr. Insignificant MSNBC sportswriter.

And this time last year the media was falling over themselves annointing KC the team to beat becasue of 13-3 and Gunther. Dick Vermeil does not seem to take the heat that Shanny does.
Shanny should cry more.

I agree. It's hard to say how much he will contribute, but the simple fact he loves the game into his 40's has to be infectious. Noone has given Rice a roster spot, but given the fact Shanahan is a loyal person, I bet he sticks. He might sit inactive, or he might give 5-10 plays, who knows. The guy is a legend. And it doesn't make out recieving corp old. That's just media bullshiat. Lelie, Watts and Putz are all young. So is Jackson. If someone goes down, it's going to be nice to pull the old Yoda off the pine.
I must be missing something, because I don't wear homer glasses, but the media has us eating dirt this year. Yeah, our home schedule is rough, but man, most of the division has hard schedules. This facination with Oakland is particuliarly amusing. They have a reject QB, a reject Coach, a backup RB, a Cancer WR, and no defense and they get ranked 4th in a power ranking? On what? Didn't they draft near the top again? Oh wait, they didn't have a first rounder! I'm telling you, Moss isn't going to change his stripes just because he put on the silver and black. He is very overrated.

It is amazing how they absolutely adored Rice for so long and now are turning on him for nothing more than his age. That article was one of the most savage wastes of time I ever read.
I still don't like Rice at all (probably never will) and him putting on the Broncos jersey changes nothing as far as that goes.....but if he can help the team at all, then so be it. Not that he needs to, but hopefully he'll have this article pinned up somewhere for motivational purposes.....I actually wanna read more garbage like it if it'll result in Rice having one of his best seasons in years.

This is a pure opinion piece and you know what they say about opinions. Everyone as a member of this board should know that. ROFL!
Its pretty tough to blaze a new trail. You can only take what they give you as far as information and its a pretty saturated game with a lot of knowledgable people. I remember on CP a guy was complaining because a sports writer was writing stuff he had seen on CP. I was like hmm... do you think there is anything that could be written about the Chiefs; some angle that has not been said on CP? Same things goes for the Broncos and OM. It seems like they use what they get if they go any further its just based on hunches or stuff they cant prove and prob shouldn't print if they are true their craft as journalists.
IMO.

...Ok, but hitting on the same points concerning the Chief's as a team (probobly defensive aquisitions) is one thing, but beating to death the "Jerry Rice needs to retire" isn't even really news. It's some guy's opinon on what another guy should do with his career. Think about how stupid that is, especially for a national audience. You make small comments concerning stuff like that, not an entire column, half of which is total fiction.

I guess, I usually dont read stuff of this nature but I imagine the average NFL fan would give it a read just because he doesn't hear Rice smack on a football BB all the time. Stuff like this is written all the time...
As Mark Cuban says with his business ideas... "If I am right then I get all the credit. But if I am wrong you can call me a dumbass." ROFL!
And lets be honest if Rice was a Chief this would have been posted and laughed at because its ripping on a Chiefs player.

There's pros and cons to both. Rice is a known commodity, but unfortunately that commodity is very old and slow. Mitchell sucks, but is still young, so at least he could get better, even though he won't. Still, you guys do well with mediocre receivers (excluding Tony G. and Priest) so who knows?

We always make things happen with our passing game, I am not too worried. I am really excited for our young guy Sammie Parker. I don't think either team needs Rice or Mitchell but it will be interesting to see how they pan out and what roles they play.

Seeing our offensive production? Nope. Trent and the offense had a rough start and evened out last year to do well again.
But just looking at the numbers and seeing them play I have no concern on the offense.

With all due respect, Rice I've seen quoted twice in the past 2 weeks saying he's not in good enough condition to play in Denver, the altitude is kicking his ass.
I love the Broncs. It makes my winter to see the Broncs win another playoff game. The Broncs are in the top five in the NFL since the merger in playoff wins, Conference Championships, and League Championships.
But, by God, if a player on the roster doesn't have the wind to play every down at 5280, then he shouldn't be onn the roster.
The Broncs didn't get to the top five in playoff wins by mamby-pambying guys that don't have the wind to play at 5280.
I've seen in the last few years that the Broncs don't put an emphasis on conditioning - insisting on being able to do wind-sprints at 5280 all day long - and I think that's a huge mistake.

Actually a bunch of Raven fans here at work are wishing they would go after Rice. Imagine having that bad of receivers on your team.
Shame , just like in Boxing . Hanging on too long ...... I hate Rice for so many reasons , but I hate to see him end his career this way .....
To hell with Rice....He's on the Raiders now, he was on the 49ers teams of the 80's...a team that I couldn't stand and couldn't wait to see fall apart for sooo many reasons that Taco doesn't have enough bandwidth for me to list them all....I despise him and have no sympathy for Rice whatsoever.
Trade him to AZ...Emmitt isn't helping their gate much, maybe Rice will.
Jerry Rice needs to bow out gracefully. I don't think he can "redux" his career a second time.
I like the guy, he's an all time HOF player, but at 42 he has to be gracious and hang them up before he is a Joe Namath. I don't have a problem with him doing a farewell tour, but next year should be his last.
What an embarassment Rice has become... I've never seen two Pros tarnish their legacy any more than Rice and Brown this past year...
This guy has always ben a stat guy. You can picture him running for the stat sheet after every game. Win's and losses don't matter, as long as his records are safe. I bet he plays till marvin harrison gets a major injury.

I'm looking forward to a pretty good season.
There's a good possibility the Broncs can put together a good season. The team has to play hard and the coaching staff has to be on the beam, but that's what is expceted from the Broncs.
Time will tell if Shanny has put together a staff and roster that can challenge for a Conference Championship. The team has floundered for the past few years, had the worst streak for a Bronco team since the 60's.
Shanny, Bowlen and the coaching staff have a lot to prove for the next 3-4 years. They need to stand up and uphold the strong Bronco tradition.
Six consecutive years without a playoff win, without even competing in a playoff game is ugly. That hasn't happened since the 60's to the Broncs.
The pressure is on Shanny & Co. I was doing ok on what they had done in the off-season until I heard they went bowling because it was too hot to practice.
Well, maybe the rules have cahnged since Korey Stringer died (God rest his soul). But bowling? I f you want to have a competition for a football team, make it a windsprint competition, a squat competion, a sled competiition.
