You were 7-9 last year Bob, you're missing more than just one piece.
Keep drinking the Kool-Aid though, it's Chef fans like you that have kept Carl Peterson employed this long. For that, we're all grateful.

Bah. The last few years have proven the previous year's record gives zero indication of how a team will do in the upcoming season.

I guess we'll have to see what happens when they actually play the games.

What would give you that idea?
When you guys went 13-3, your performance in December told me that you guys weren't good enough to get past round one of the playoffs. Then when you guys had a tougher schedule, it was pretty easy to predict that you guys were going to go 9-7 based on what you had done the year previous. Now you've got a defense of guys thrown together from all parts of the league... One of them an impact player and the rest a bunch of cast offs and role players... Add to that an aging offense that has always had a questionable passing game due to lack of depth at WR, but manages to get by due to the unbelievable amount of time your quarterback has to throw. There are more questions in KC than just defense.

questionable passing game
ROFL!
You cannot be serious! We've been a top 10 passing team every year Vermeil's been here! Top 2 the last two seasons!
Anyway....Ravens, Rams, etc. Just because we went 7-9 does NOT mean we can't win it all next year.

Well they did get Hakim the best slot Wr in the NFL. He RIPPED the NFL a new one when he played with Dick4meal's before. Oh wait this just in he used KC to get a higher contract else where making him the 598 player to do so over the last three years.

I'm dead serious. Indeed you guys have miraculously put up numbers, given your weak receiving corps. But someday the fact that you have no talent at WR is going to catch up to you. This might as well be that year.

By that logic any fan of any team who was within shouting distance of .500 can make the same claim.
The fact remains that the Chefs aren't in the same class with New England, Pittsburgh & Indy. Neither are the Broncos. We're all aspiring to reach that level, but until they achieve that status on the field, it's meaningless banter to claim otherwise. But it is the offseason, knock yourself out.
Spare me the "on paper we look better than (insert team here)" line. On paper there are several teams that have looked better than the Pats over the last 4 years.....yet they've had 3 championship parades in that time span while everyone other than Tampa have had none. So much for teams that look good on paper.

Well thank you 'Bob, although I see myself as only extremely mentally gifted.
I can say, however, I don't depend on my Dad to deliver stat sheets & news and I certainly don't sit around and wonder what Mom is cooking for dinner.
You see, if you look beyond you muddled little world of football books & video games, you might actually understand why others have points of view outside of your own.

As long was we have Green, Gonzalez and Holmes, our passing game will be just fine.

Funny how you completely omit the Chefs O-line, the group that deserves the most credit for the success of said passing game.
I know you need to feel good about the glamor positions, but try to be realistic.

That goes without saying. They've started so many consecutive games together we take them for granted.
And I'd say Gonzalez is more important to our passing game than any other player, personally.

And since the chances of BOTH of those guys going down is about as likely as Jake Plummer making the pro bowl....yes, we'll post 4,000 yards again.

Its not so much about whether any of them goes down due to a specific injury, its more so whether age starts to really take its toll even when they are healthy and playing. Roaf and Shields are in their mid 30s Bob, there is a significant possibility that their game will start to really decline.

My argument is only that you are a frequent annoyance who starts threads empty of any substance whatsoever for the sole purpose of "LOOK AT MEEEEEE"
If you want to continue being the court jester here, that's your business, but in making arguments of any merit, it helps if the one delivering them are right on more than just an occassional basis.

It sure is amazing how our fluke passing game manages to be dominant year after year without a TO or Marvin Harrison. Hopefully our great O-line, great pass catching RBs, great TEs, a very good QB and decent WRs will allow us to slip through the cracks and have a top two passing offense again this year.
Also, "Might as well" is not really a very strong argument. When you consider all the weapons we have on offense it isn't miraculous that our passing offense is strong. You don't need Randy Moss to be able to pass. We "might as well" continue to be dominant passing the ball. We have been for four years straight, so we "might as well" keep it up. Hell, Considering how much talent we have, this might as well be the season we go 19-0 defeating the Eagles 63-2 in the SB.

In order to make that puzzle more accurate, you have to tear out more pieces. Most people would agree that there are three phases of a football game: offense, defense, and special teams. Therefore, you would have to cut out 1/3 of the puzzle to make your point of the defense being the missing ingredient. If you do that, the puzzle looks vastly different. Add to that the fraying, worn, and aging edges of the offensive pieces and the Chefs are in more trouble than you think. Now, run along to the Planet where you can get into deep discussions about certain parts of the male anatomy in great detail...
