:unamused:

Too bad for Sonic fans, I think he's become a pretty good coach. To go to your nearest rival sucks the big one as well. I thought once they resigned Ray Allen that Nate would be a slam dunk to get a deal done. Apparently Seattle underestimated his market value.

Ouch!

Id take 6.5 million over 4 million, too.

Good for Nate.

I don't begrudge Nate for getting his. The Sonics cheaped out and I think it's going to cost them in the long run.

Oh snap. Terry Porter is out of a job then.

Interesting. I also thought the Allen signing would be huge for his coming back to the Sonics.

I have never once faulted a guy for taking more money. The fact is, sports is a business, and it is cuttroat at that. Once you can't perform, you're cut or fired without a thought, so you should get your money while you can. (Yeah I realize basketball is different than football with guaranteed contracts, but you get my point.)

I think the Sonics thought he would come cheaper being that this was the only team he'd ever been with, as a player and a coach... But 2.5 mil more in Portland, well, you can buy new memories with that kind of cheddar.

nah 4 was in nate's range. paul allen has a lot of money, its like when cuban outbids u, doesn't mean u lowballed anyone.

also i think this is a bad movie, portland is a coach killing team. their ego's and stupidity and arrest record in all likelihood this is nate's one big contract and he will have to rebuild his rep after this.

While we're on the topic of Blazers, I'll be honest, since they haven't really been a good team the past few years, I haven't paid them much attention... Are they still the Jailblazers? I mean, is this the same team or did they get rid of the bad guys? Obviously they traded Rasheed, (who is the man, btw) and didn't they get rid of some other guys?

They've pretty much cleaned house. Rasheed was a cancer in the lockerroom here. People here celebrated getting him gone. Attendance shot up for awhile after the trade announcement. Once he left, there were a couple of corkroaches here and there, but they got themselves squished pretty quickly.

We've got a pretty fresh faced young team now with some genuine good guys with some genuine upside... Watch out for Przybilla. I love that dude...

bah... As usual... Opening your yap without knowing the facts.

The fact is, Portland has got a great tradition of making the playoffs. Expectations will be high for Nate to get us back to that level. The organization will be behind him, and the fans definitley will. This is going to be a great situation.

If Telfair's game matures, if Zach Randolph decides to share the basketball, if some of their youngsters develop into contributors, if they keep their heads on straight and if Blazer management is willing to be patient, they could build a nice team.

Uh, then why did you bring up the past?

Like I said... and everyone who reads you will be able to relate... more just opening your yap without actually knowing what's going on. No one said we'd instantly make the playoffs. But we're not the team that you paint us as.

Exactly... Telfair, Randolph, and Pryzbilla are the future of the team... Blazers fans look at this team and say that these are guys that could be real fun to watch develop. Good guys with a lot of potential.

Some of us feel like were just one deal away from being a force in the league. If we could bring in a blue chipper, we'd have a great supporting cast for them to work with...

From what I've read, they're trying to acquire that blue chipper right now. They've got an ace up their sleeve with Nick Van Exel. They have a team option on Van Exel for $12 million this season. If there's a team out there with a high priced star they want to unload, they can trade him for Van Exel and then decline his option. The Blazers get a star player, the team they dealt with gets $12 million wiped off their salary cap.

They'll have to get something done before July 14th (I think, don't quote me on that date) as somewhere around there is when they'll have to make a decision on his option. If they don't make a deal, they'll certainly decline the option and rid themselves of Nick The Quit and clear the cap space.

I heard before the draft that they were trying to get Paul Pierce but Ainge wasn't budging.

Pretty sure you're a moron... Didn't you realize I was already a step ahead of you?

You brought up the past:

What arrest record... Go ahead, moroon. Why don't you post the arrest record of the guys that we currently have on our team... given that's about the only thing of substance that you said there in that wishy washy, no-substance statement.

Just admit it. You're shooting off at the mouth again... Like when you tried to sell the idea that Northcutt is better than Rod Smith... ::)

wow you're running around pretty hard here, first u start with "you dont understand facts, fact is blazers have made the playoffs a lot." follow up with "I'm not the one bringing up the past"(huh?). then go right onto "what arrest record, thats the only thing of substance here." haha. whatever man.

and I dont believe those smilies at the end, u obviously have ur panties in a bunch. its not my fault that the blazers are considered to have improved their team when they go from a bunch of ppl w/ arrest records to a bunch of egotistical non-team oriented high school players.

but seriously I'm sure the blazers will eventually make the playoffs and u can have ur gloat, afterall OVER HALF THE TEAMS IN THE NBA MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. so be prepared to return to the dizzying heights of almost above avg! which I'm sure someone of the stature and fortitude of zach randolph can adequately carry u to.

All hot air... Since your original "arrest record" statement gets shot out of the air, all your left with is some hollow claim that they're "egotistical non-team oriented high school players." Obviously, there is nothing to back up your statement that you could put down. So basically it's a matter of opinion. And you know what they say about opinions and assholes: It's everybody's opinion that you're an asshole.

actually having an arrest record has a lot less to do w/ how u play basketball than being egotistical and non-team oriented. but ur right its an opinion, then again I dont see zach randolph and ruben patterson going up for teammate of the year awards. ooo lets not forget darius miles, I could throw van exel in but he's all but gone. face it, u guys still aren't very selective when it comes to actual team players. ur still taking stuckup punks outta highschool(telfair) and just hoping they workout, ur still giving talented but selfish players huge contracts(randolph).

but hey why don't u just throw more insults at me, I'm sure it will make the blazers play better. u know what they say, the team is a reflection of the fans and all i see are kneejerk overreactors screaming to try and drown out the negativity.

haha and wtf is this blazers have no arrest records it took me all of 8 seconds to know that ruben patterson has been arrested.

oh look another 2 minutes and zach randolph has an arrest. this is hard work.

boy u must be a great person to go bonkers over me saying the blazers have arrest records, how dare I say that! they're practically mormon!

Seattle has to be stunned, especially considering McMillan's playing career w/the sonics, but then again money talks, and B.S. walks...

How can we have a Jail Blazers conversation without mentioning the insanity that is Zach Randolph. Remember, this is a guy who's high school coach has been quoted saying, "Every day when I read the paper and see that Zach hasn't killed someone, or been killed, it's a good day."

The Sports Guy sums it up well:

Zach Randolph – After signing a gargantuan extension and subsequently sticking a 37-cent stamp on the season, Randolph should only be making top-40s for lists like "Most Likely To Get His GM Fired" and "Most Likely To Launch the First-Ever 'Should He Still Count Against the Cap If He's Serving Five-to-10?' Debate." But how many reliable low-post guys are there under 25? And what if the FDA green lights a new form of medication for semi-crazy power forwards who should be twice as productive as they actually are? We're keeping him on the list for one more year (but that's it).

As a Sonics fan....F YOU. ROFL! I thought once the Ray Allen deal was inked that maybe...just maybe...the Sonics front office had finally had their heads removed from their asses. Not the case. I see it now...Paul Westphal makes a triumphant return to hamstring the organization with his BS piss poor coaching style for another 5 years. This really peeves me in a big way. Nate was a great player and was really hitting his stride as a coach. The players respect him and play above their potential for him. He got Fortson and James to play out of their asses all year. He got Ridenour to play well and if Nate had stayed I'd have said Luke had tremendous potential. I fear Luke becomes a "what could have been" and the Sonics spiral into obscurity...again...and Ray gets pissed after 1 year and demands a trade. Props to your squad for making a good move. I don't blame Nate, I've been a Sonics fan long enough to know that our troubles begin and end in the front office.

Are you kidding me, Joel Pryzbilla. The Shot Killa (As we like to call him here in WI from his time with the Bucks). He's going into his 8th NBA season. He's not going be improve by much even though he did come up with some hugh games last season. He averages 3.5 ppg for his career and couldn't get much starting time ahead of Ervin Johnson back in Milwaukee. I wouldn't be putting too much hope in this guy.
