I remember reading the scroll at the bottom of the NFL network where it said Brandon had just had a B-day. It doesn't sound like it was a good one.

Safety Brandon arrested on a charge of assault
By Patrick Saunders
Denver Post Staff Writer
Broncos backup safety Sam Brandon was arrested early Monday morning on domestic violence charges, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Department.
According to Lt. Alan Stanton, Brandon was arrested between 1:30-2 a.m. July 4 and charged with third-degree assault, a Class 1 misdemeanor. He also was charged with criminal mischief for causing $100-$500 in damage.
It marked the second time in the past 13 months Brandon was arrested for domestic violence. The first time was June 2, 2004, but misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief and child abuse were dismissed.
Because the current charge is classified as a domestic violence case, Brandon was required to appear before a judge before posting bond. The incident occurred on a holiday and no judge was available, so Brandon spent
Monday night in the Douglas County jail. He was released Tuesday after posting $5,000 bond.
According to Douglas County court records, a temporary restraining order was issued against Brandon. A pre-trial conference has been scheduled for July 20.
Broncos spokesman Jim Saccomano said the team was not aware of the arrest and had no comment.
Denver drafted Brandon from Nevada-Las Vegas in the fourth round in 2002. He played primarily special teams last season. In 2003, he started 10 games at free safety.

Exactly, we can't afford to lose anyone at safety

Man we are hard up for news. When I first heard this I thought they would cut him immediately, but if its a misdemeanor, forget it. This is really no big deal. I know Denver was hopeful they could pull a deal for Brandon last offseason, so maybe somone will give us a late round pick for him during the preseason.

Pretty scary that this and today's "story" on Saurbraun are the only new Broncos articles in the Post in over a week. Even when Schef was on summer vacation, there'd be more action than this. Unbelievable.

Agree with comment about depth, but Brandon has done nothing here and safeties of his ability are a dime a dozen.

Sam Brandon is simply the latest in the line of horrible secondary draft choices. I'm not sure if Eric Brown or Deltha wouldn't be upgrades. Maybe Kenoy Kennedy as a coverage safety. Our secondary looked like a three ring circus against Indy two years in a row.

Every year we seem to search for the next Atwater, and we come up with Brown, Kenndy and Brandon. Maybe it time to move on and look for next Ed Reed. The game has changed.

Eh, I'll withold judgement until we know more of the story.

Maybe Brandon Browner can step up. I actually hope they do something to him (Sam Brandon) just so it sends a message right before pre-season for everyone to behave. We have several that could act up and we don't need anyone setting a disorganized tone.

I didnt think he was going to make it either way Khan. But this prolly seals it and provides, as you said, a chance for Shanny to make an example out of him.

I talked with someone(Clarker) that was listening to 950 the Fan and said that Sam Adams was talking about the situation regarding Brandon and that he thinks the Broncos might be signing a defensive back of note in the next few days.
Maybe Lance Schulters?

Sounds like it's another one of these Bronco players that can't leave the girlfriend or wife alone after being told by the court not to approach them.

We still have Young don't we?? Hopefully he gets some serious time in preseason this year. I like what little I've seen of him.

Between House Arrest Carswell and Slamming Sammy we have a lot of character guys.
Nice touch that the charges from 2004 included a child abuse allegation. Glad that one was dropped. Harder to spin that as "some mouthy ho, getting what's coming to her."

Young still is there, and Browner, but neither are ready to step up to the plate yet IMO. Could move Roc Alexander to safety, Lord knows that he seemed to like running Reggie Wayne down, maybe this time he could be tackling from the front and not trying to catch from behind. Anyway you slice it Brandon is so gone.

LeSueur is getting his oppurtunity. Doors are being opened to stay on the roster. He's been moved to his projected NFL position. Brandon is out the door. Kenoy has left. Time to make the ball club and contribute, son.

Amen SoCal,
Lesuer had better kick some ass, because everytime I hear his name, I think about all the other players that went just in that round, especially Randy Starks and Darnell Dockett. I still remember everyone in the chat room screaming to trade up and draft either, and the silence when Leseur name was called.

Denver should sign him to come in and compete against Walls for the starting CB. Either way Denver will then have a great nickle package.

I would like to see Ty Law on the other side of Champ (Even though Law is a Michigan guy) but I don't think we could afford it. This team is still to far away from a Super Bowl to use Law, it would be a waste of money for a guy whose time is almost up, I think he might be to much CB than a FS.

There was a lot of buzz about this today.
I wasn't aware that Brandon was...and, at this stage I use the term 'was'...in the Bronco plans as much as he was.
The coaching staff apparently had very high hopes for Brnadon breaking out this year, and he was, or maybe still is an important cog on Special Teams.
This is a second offense as I understand it, and that could lead to some jail time considering that it is a class one misdemeanor.
The team might forgive transgressions, and has...even serious ones (see Dwayne Carswell), but I'm betting missing training camp...or game days depending on a trial date, to serve time isn't an acceptable reason to keep a roster spot open.
Not good news at a thin position.

He won't get any jail time for a misdemeanor. I would be suprised if this went to court or if it lasted longer than a single day.

Under Colorado statutes, ordinary citizens face a minimum of six months or a maximum of 18 months imprisonment if convicted of a class one misdemeanor. Obviously, as a celebrity, Brandon's punishment will be minimal or non-existant, though. He certainly won't face any team sanctions whatsoever.

I was being facetous about Roc being burned and how they Broncos tried Willie Middlebrooks at safety at the same time. I wasn't really being serious about moving him to safety. They could also bring Jarious back to try for safety again. Hilarious!
