A decent (for this early) '06 mock:

http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sub/mockdraft.html

A few comments:
1. Would love Mario Williams at 8!
2. At 24, Davin Joseph would be OK - probably would prefer Max Jean-Giles who they have going to Pitt.
3. Can't imagine that Fins will be #1
4. HATE that Oakland gets Kiwi at #12
5. OL - 4 in top 10, 8 in first round!
6. Omar Jacobs not in first round.
7. I like Nate Sally better than Landry as top S.
8. Ngata at #15 may be low.

Sure you can pick other things, but fun to look at although by next April it probably won't be anything like this!

Nice mock there, thanks for posting it SpringStein.

My thoughts:
Id be surprised if Houston went after Deangelo Williams at no.7 after drafting
morency last year and having Davis (albeit they do not seem to like him too much according
to BMan) and hollings and wells.

I would take Mario Williams at 8, id rather have Rod Wright though.

Certainly i agree Springstein, Kiwi to the Raiders at 12 would piss me off.
Just like Hawthorne in the sixth. Those biatches.

Holy ****, Detroit is going to have the best passing attack ever. Marcedes Lewis at
TE, with Williams, Williams and Rogers at WR, with Jones in the backfield.
That's a hotter lineup than Atlas's avatars.

Jaguars with a nice pick going Cromartie at 21.

Im sure DF enjoys seeing Santonio Holmes go to the Chiefs.

Davin Joseph is OKAY, i wouldnt feel satisfied with that though, especially when
Orien Harris goes with the next pick to the ****ing Ravens followed by Derek Hagen
to the Chargers.

The Colts make a great pick with Ernie Sims at the end of the round.

I think this gives a sense of how "rich" this next class will be. And you know there will be some guys who aren't even on this list who will emerge as top half of first rounders during the upcoming season.

I thought the same about Houston, SoCal. With Davis and Morency, they seem to have much greater needs than RB.

Speaking of Mercedes Lewis, it will be interesting to watch Jeb develop this year. If he doesn't take major steps forward (which I tend to believe he will), could we be talking about Lewis as a possibility next March/April?

You already pointed out how "rich" next year's class is supposed to be. Despite how much Denver uses it in their offense, TE is still a luxury pick in the 1st next year. Go with lineman on either side.

I agree with the linemen theory. I was just bringing up that possibility - seems like the last couple of years there has been plent of Ben Troupe and Heath Miller pre-draft chatter. I never wanted either of them, but a premier TE is becoming more and more of a neccesity to offenses now than say 7/8 years ago.

Not a bad mock for us - I love Williams - but I think he has our second pick a little high. I see us picking in about the same places as Minny did this draft - 7 and 18. With those, grab either Mario Williams or Kiwi for sure, and one of the remaining DTs with the second (would be stoked for Ngata or Harris, not so high on Wright and Watson seems to have limited potential although he is already very good and probably the most NFL-ready of the four). This all depends on how our d-line plays and FA and whatnot, but that would be a solid draft. Also, until we change our blocking schemes for running, I can't see Shanny taking a first-round pick on o-line (I know he took Foster, but I see it as more of an exception as we were in dire straits at tackle).

It's a long time till April, but based on what I have seen so far I would also love Williams here. A true superstar with the outside rush. Would be nice to get Ngata with that second pick but would settle for a premium OT or Hagen the WR.

While I think the QB class is quite weak next year, I am surprised they have only one in the first round. You know one or two will be over valued and get into round 1.

I think this year has a couple situations (Young and McNeal) like Carson Palmer's a few years ago. Guys who are not rated as 1st round picks coming into this season, not because a lack of talent, but because they haven't put it together yet.

Both of those guys have plenty of physical talent. Just not sure if they will ever develop the rest of the package like decision making and leadership.

Possibly, but I wouldn't call the QB class "weak" because of it. They've got the talent, like Palmer they just haven't put it together yet.

Yea - guess we will know better in 4-5 years.
