I was bored so I came up with my all-time NFL team. I picked them on how dominate they were in their prime. Not how they would fare in today's game.
Quarterback-John Elway :homer:
Running back-Jim Brown
Fullback-Marion Motley
Tackle-Anthony Munoz
Guard-John Hannah
Center-Dwight Stephenson
Guard-Larry Allen
Tackle-Art Shell
Tight End-Shannon Sharpe :homer:
Wide Receiver-Jerry Rice
Wide Receiver-Don Hutson
Defensive End-Reggie White
Defensive Tackle-Randy White
Defensive Tackle-Merlin Olsen
Defensive End-Gino Marchetti
Outside Linebacker-Lawrence Taylor
Middle Linebacker-Dick Butkus
Outside Linebacker-Bobby Bell
Cornerback-Night Train Lane
Cornerback-Rod Woodson
Safety-Ronnie Lott
Safety-Kenny Easley
Kicker-Adam Vinatieri
Punter-Ray Guy
Special Teams Ace-Steve Tasker
I left out alot of great players because I only could pick one for each position.(Thorpe,Grange,Baugh,Graham,Unitas,Montan a, Payton etc) Who would you guys put in?

It's actually a job well done. Good mix of old and new players. Anybody that puts Marion Motley, Don Hutson, Night Train Lane and Gino Marchetti on an All-Time team knows their football.
Three disagreements:
- Ken Houston or Larry Wilson at safety over Kenny Easley.
- Randy White is not even the greatest DT of his franchise. That distinction belongs to Bob Lilly. I would go with Lilly or Mean Joe Greene at DT over White.
- Rod Woodson had a Hall of Fame career as a defensive back but I don't think he mastered the "cornerback" position for a long enough period of time to be considered one of the two greatest ever. I would replace him with either Darrell Green, Michael Haynes or Willie Brown.
I have to admit though, I have seen many fans attempt lists such as these and you did close to a flawless job.

Dwight Stephenson is the Sandy Koufax of centers. His peak seasons are unmatched, but he lacks longevity.

Excellent job. Tough to argue with any of your selections.
I agree the Mean Joe Greene should replace White at DT. I think I would replace Woodson with Deion Sanders (with this defense I don't need him to tackle).

No Deacon Jones ?

I have to agree with BroncoLB52. That was one of the best all time teams I've ever seen. I have a few minor quibbles, but they're based mainly on my own personal preference.

I'm gonna have to agree with you on Bob Lilly. He should be on the team

Call me a homer but didnt howard griffith block for 4 different 1,000 yard backs and a 2,000 yard back?
Id have to say he has to be mentioned as one of the top FBs :homer:. Maybe my memory is screwed up, but I seem to recall him just blowing LBs up 24/7.

Nolan Cromwell is an interesting addition. He was a great player and one of the best all around athletes of his era.

Looking back on it now, it's amazing how many great players were on those Rams teams of the 70s and early 80s (Harrah, Saul, Slater, Mack, Youngblood, Cromwell, Olsen, Ellard, etc. etc.) (I'm guessing Slap is the only guy on this board who remembers Jack Snow). It's a biatch they couldn't win a SB. Of course, they were up against the Steelers, probably the best team that ever took the field. The Cowboys and Vikes were no slouches either. I still carry a smoldering hatred for Staubach.
I still appreciate seeing that little bit of Chuck Knox in Shanahan: "We will run the ball at you at any time, in any situation." I've always liked that kind of football.

I edited my FBs but Griff still didn't make it.

Wasn't snow with the roman gabriele crew, rather than the parade of qb's that came through a bit later?

I'd like to see Nitschke and Lambert cruising bars for chicks. Why do I think they would just hit them over the head with a big club and drag them back to their caves?

It's not fair, but they would probably do better than I ever did.
