Read down a ways in the article.
Another plus for NBC is that no one, including ESPN, will be able to air any NFL highlights until midnight or after on Sunday. “So people will be tuning into NBC for highlights,” said McCarley.

I don't get it. If no one can air the highlights, why will people be tuning into NBC for highlights?
Or is the paragraph supposed to mean that no one BUT NBC will be able to show the highlights until after midnight?

NFL Primetime is the most comphrensive and in-depth highlight show out there. Tuning in to watch Chris Berman at his finest has been a Sunday tradition for twenty years. I doubt NBC will do a better job of showing highlights.

Lame. No more Berman is great, but that's BS if the only place I can see Denver highlights that Sunday is on the local NBC affiliate.

So we are going to have to trust NBC to give us highlights?? That sucks. They won't offer anything that is even half of what Primetime did.

As long as Inside the NFL is still on HBO...I'm not that mad...I'm mad at the fact that we wont hear the NFL Primetime songs anymore...

They (ESPN) will probably have a show starting at midnight.

You gotta be kidding me! Berman is one of the best in the business. I love his frequent nostalgic references. During the highlight clip, Jake Plummer will be scrambling and Berman will say "looking like Marlin Briscoe" to compliment him. Berman respects the game of football and its proud tradition and history. That's something lacking from many of the commentators today.

My guess is that ESPN must have agreed to this as part of the deal to get Monday Night Football.

Berman hasn't been funny for years, I'm talking late 80's. Come to think of it, Berman wasn't that funny in the first place. The nicknames were funny for about 15 minutes. All he is, is another one of ESPN's sportscasters who believes that he's bigger than the sports he covers. You can add Kilborn, Olberrman, Patrick, and Stuart Scott to that list too. All are unwatchable IMO.

I think Craig Kilborn is funny.

I have a feeling that 12:00 a.m. restriction doesn't apply to the NFL channel.

I'll take back the Craiggers is unwatchable part. His ego got too big, but he's still damn funny.

I think his ego is part of what makes him funny.

Regardless of whether or not you thought he was funny, the Boomer/TJ pairing worked....it'll be interesting to see where they go from here.

This sucks. The only thing worth watching on ESPN was Primetime. The only two people I like in ALL of ESPN are Berman and Jackson. So now I have to listen to Madden tell me that the key to that last touchdown was "These guys up front here (draws crappy circle with telestrator) did what they were suppose to do, allowing the runningback here (crappy arrow on telestrator) to do what he was suppose to resulting in a touchdown." Oh freakin yay. :bs:

I could care less who hosts that damn show! I NEED my postgame highlights! I doubt NBC will have anything close to what ESPN has as fas as highlight shows go.

This is BS. I don't like it at all. Local stations always have a post game show, but not anymore. We won't be able to turn on Fox Sports in Denver and get a review of the game. I don't see how Fox or CBS can't show highlights from their own game, but NBC can. NBC must have paid a lot of that. We, the fans, are the ones getting screwed.

Somehow, I'd expect CBS/Fox will still show halftime highlights, etc. By the time you get to the Primetime show, we will have already seen many of the highlights.

Does this mean that Sportscenter will suck on Sunday night/monday morning? They film at 11 est. and then we get about 10 hours of replays. If this is the way it's going to be, we'd have to wait for the 5 o clock sportscenter just to get highlights of games from the previous day. This might be the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of.

I have a feeling this has a lot to do with forcing viewers over to the NFL channel.

Absolutely agree! There is no better highlight show and there won't be one.
Berman and Jackson compliment each other perfectly and both have the upmost respect for the game.

Though I used to be an avid fan of Primetime, I guess having Sunday Ticket has jaded me. There wasn't anything on I hadn't seen several viewings of by the time PT started. It used to be if you lived out of town that was the only way to get news of the homie team. Now with the internet every halfway unremarkable play can be viewed almost instantaneously. So an exclusive highlight package seems like not such a big deal. -- Would've been worth bargaining for 20 years ago, I guess.

I agree with this pretty much. I loved Primetime because it was low key and pretty much BS free, after the circus they turned Countdown into, as well as the other networks "flavoring up" the pre game to a fault, Primetime was refreshing...sure Berman's nicknames get old after awhile, but when compared to the schitck of Irvin, Sharpe et. al. he's about as mild as you can get with that "entertainment" stuff.
I will miss it.
