Yeah...I went surfing yesterday, and the day before...I was fine in the water but when I made my way back to the beach my left shoulder felt like it was being stuck from several highly unlikely angles by red hot rusty needles. Very unnatural.

I wish someone would have told me this years ago. Probably would have saved me 3 surgeries and all those embarrassing moments I thought I was being cool sittin like an Indian :yep:

Soak it in Epsin (sp) salt. Also if there is any swelling make yourself this, 1 cup of OJ and 2 shots of Vodka.

Okay. Put your knee on the screen.

All better.
You probably tore some cartilage, which is normal wear and tear as a person gets older. Scope surgery for a normal person will set you back about 2-4 weeks. Besides that do R.I.C.E. Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. Hope you feel better bro, knee injuries are a bi!ch.

All I can say is guys...If you have not done free weight squat press in five years you should seriously consider not doing it because I have been sore for three days.

Traffic not bad on the weekend, there might be some slow spots but nothing to long to sit through. 95N/S bound are problem.

it's not that bad but they are doing work near the mixing bowl so you may want to avoid it.....
with your knee, ice it and takes some alleve. Rubbing cocco butter on it helps reduce the chance of scar tissue if you did tear some miniscus...

Don't worry Garcia, I have that guy from canada with his chainsaw on his way. We can get that amputated right away.
Soak it in emson salts and then get an MRI if it's bad.
And stop whining.

A description general as that it could be a lot of things.
Always.........
Doctor > Internet Board.
It could definitely be from the squats. What kind of squats and what type of routine?
High intensity or high reps?

I blew the ACL on my right knee about 14 years ago. I had five operations, but I still get around great. Its also nice being able to project precipitation 24 hours in advance.

The Squats were High Intensity I guess...but not too much weight, but I haven't done them in a long time.
Thanks for the advice folks...it's nice of you to take your time and respond.

We've had more than normal rainfall the last three years, after a decade of drought. And I'm tapped out until September.

That seems to be the problem and you probably put a little too much stress on those knees. You're 30 after all.
If you plan on squatting continously, for the love god, get some Glucosamine and Chondroitin. It will help your joint flexibility.
Plus try to keep it light and in the high rep range. You're getting old and your knees will receive alot of stress from squatting which is probably one of the most brutal form of exercises out there. Not only that you haven't squatted in a while.
High reps build endurance, tolerance to lactic acid, and help strengthen the connective tissue.
It help or delay you from getting those creaky knees.

Sadly, this is true. The extra rainfall the last few years has given some of these numbskulls a little practice, so they're making marginal improvement.

I have terrible knees. I thought I was going to have to have an operation by now... But then I started doing Tai Chi, and things seemed to stablize and even get better. Two snowboarding and three hiking seasons later, I feel like I can beat the operation if I just keep it up.

Yea low intensity body weight exercises are great for getting stabilizers, joints and connective tissues stronger.

Ah, the gifts of age...and you youngins don't know how we do it...run hard, get busted up, and when it's going to rain, we know it. You don't think we lived this long to work do you? We are weather forcasters. :blowhorn:
Noone really knows why cattle will pack before a storm either, but they are more accurate than any weatherman.

Good for you. But don't worry, all that working out will just take the pressure off the joint and spread more of it to the tendons that surround your knee.
Once you get older and lazier, the old damaged joints will be there waiting for you. Fortunately the price on nice titanium knees has come down drastically in recent years.
Of course you could actually keep up with the exercises, but if past experience is to be any guide hardly anyone does.
